I'm happy to see Fuller & Golden together. I'm a big mark for both those guys, especially when they're teamed up.
-
I mean just go to wrestlingforum.com and look around it's not a few posts I'm talking about it's the prevalent attitude of the board. I've never seen the word buried (mis)used more anywhere else.
-
Maybe. But the majority of the time they invalidate any point they might have by being ridiculously over the top about it like saying that Kevin Owens was buried by Cena and is now just a jobber and should have quit rather than agree to tap out, Roman Reigns/Sheamus are TERRIBLE and should be released, saying damn near every loss anyone ever suffers to John Cena is a BURIAL even when it's guys like Zach Ryder or Stardust. Almost anything that includes the word burial just makes my eyes gloss over at this point. Along with your generous helping of essentially wishing death on Vince McMahon while acting like HHH is the messiah who will lead us into wrestling's promised land.

EDIT: I apparently haven't figured out the difference between the edit and quote button yet.

I feel like you are totally creating a strawman out of my post. I specifically stated where this stuff exists and none of them had anything to do with people here so I can't "name names" other than wrestlingforum.com, Wreddit & the wrestling section of SomethingAwful forums which is where I have specifically seen people say that they watch Raw live so they can make fun of it in the Gameday Thread. Are we really going to act like hate watching ISN'T an internet phenomena that also exists outside of wrestling fandom? http://io9.com/is-hate-watching-bad-for-you-1654143313

I did pick up a couple twitter followers by making jokes about The Undertaker breaking his hip in the pull apart and WWE officials freaking out backstage over needing to find a new SummerSlam main event so that's probably true. But the stuff I read on twitter is almost never even close to as bad as some of the stuff on the boards I mentioned. Outside of Dylan I don't follow too many people who live tweet Raw though so I could have a skewed opinion. But there are still a bunch of people who tweet about what they like when I check out the hash tags. The casual fan reaction is more likely to be captured by twitter more than anywhere else.

And Wreddit and Wrestlingforum.com and probably some other cesspools I haven't waded into. I was just accused of being a "white knight" for WWE on WF the other day because I pointed out how ridiculous someone's "I think WWE is going to put themselves out of business soon" thread was and brought up the fact that people have been saying the equivalent of "WWE is going to go out of business because they aren't booking the way I want them to" since about 2002.

I have found that most of the time the habit thing is used because it sounds better than "I watch it so I can shit on it with all my internet buddies" especially since it usually comes up after someone is asked why they watch a show they seem to really hate. There is a definite subsection of people watching Raw to try and find the best zinger or most poignant criticism which I feel has started to leak over into the smarkier live crowds who still shit on guys like Roman Reigns despite them having a killer year in ring. Because geez look at how much awesome material would be lost if we couldn't make jokes about sufferin succotash or "MAKE ROMAN LOOK STRONG"
-
Well I'm in total agreement there. Which is why I don't understand the "habit" excuse of watching Raw. I can see wrestling as a habit but why is Raw a habit? You can just as easily get your "Monday night wrestling fix" in a myriad of other, better ways.
-
Maybe not here but there is a large number of people on the internet who do. And force themselves to watch the full 3 hours live so they can all get together and circle jerk about how awful it is in a chat or forum.

I liked the Buddy/Madril match but Madril doing the ol "tap the guy on the back to make him think the ref is telling him he won" spot was really stupid. Buddy Landell was so great in that match though. EDIT: Just watched Buddy/Jose and liked it despite how short it was. I really dug that missed overhand followed by the uppercut that landed at the end from Jose.

I hope youngster Moose Cholak can find the experience that Lord Alfred Hayes thought he lacked and maybe come back to San Antonio in 2-3 years when he's more polished. Poor Samu. Two Samoans together always seem to be much tougher than one on their own. Seems like Sheikh can't buy a win. I wonder if he'll have any better luck in San Antonio.

Good thing you had David and not his partner, Tully wouldn't have been so respectful to his elders. I'm secretly hoping for the day Billy Two Eagles does a reverse Al Madril and turns heel by saying he's not really Native American he's Mexican. Relampago Leon!

Nice to see my guys in the Sam Houston Coliseum. Can't wait to see some mixing of the Mid-South & Southwest rosters for unique matches only for the Houston fans.

Dory isn't a very charismatic promo. I wonder how much of Gordy's interview was actually translated properly when it aired.
-
A run in to cause a title change? That's a big change up. Too bad Tiger Mask is gone I wanted more Tiger promos.

I admit to not watching Raw this week because they baited and switched me on getting an El Torito match. I may be the only person who quit watching Raw over that but I still matter and fuck them for getting me all excited about it.

So I said 48 hours but since I don't think anyone is going to top Flyin Brian's Fortunate Sons stuff for Tully I'm going to go ahead and call it in his favor. Tully will be in ICW from August 23rd - September 10 Assuming my Brody dates for September are confirmed I also have Saito on the table from September 1st-September 24th. I'm looking for 3-4 future Sunday dates on a top heel in return although I'm willing to give him up for nothing if you have an idea for him that I really like.
-
Can I get Brody for the 4th, 11th, 18th, 19th & 25th?
-
Tully is available from August 23rd - September 10 and I am going to follow the Beast model of best pitched idea gets the dates. You can pitch it here or in PM. Not really looking for anything in return. Everyone is eligible for this even if you think I don't like you. Obviously excluding the WWF. I'll make a decision in 48 hours.
-
I think this is now accurate as of the August draft & the Central States merger.

I watched a short clipped up episode last night but I was drunk and on the couch so there is no usual in depth write-up on it, I hope you will find it in your heart to forgive me. The show started with highlights of an arena match between Jimmy Golden & Jerry Stubbs and I wish I could see the whole thing because the closing moments looked pretty good. Jimmy Golden's stock goes up with me pretty much every time he's got a mic in his hand and I know that this is headed into the Golden/Fuller feud that made me a hardcore mark for this territory so there's nothing but good things ahead for Golden. Most of the promos on this show were hyping a one night tournament for a brand new 1980 Corvette which is one of those fun old school things that we'll never see again. We also found out that John Valiant turned on his buddy Ron Fuller due to a large sum of money from someone that Valiant didn't want to name. I'm not sure who paid him off and I'm intrigued as to where that goes. They are still hyping the arrival of Paul Orndorff this time with a video from Mid-South of him beating Ox Baker in an arm wrestling match. I kind of forgot some of the tournament matches but the ones I remember were Brad Armstrong vs. Dennis Condrey, John Valiant vs. Ron Fuller, Jimmy Golden vs. Jerry Stubbs so I think it was probably a good night at the Boutwell Auditorium. Join me next time when we hopefully don't skip a week so we can find out who won the car.

There's no need to overwhelm yourself trying too hard to keep a "real life" schedule. I'm just going to do my TV and the HemisFair shows from now on.
