  1. Well I guess it's a good thing I was looking at the very bottom of that list of names anyway.
  2. No, Russo is not booking TNA. He is busy working with IPW:UK and offering to help book E-Feds on twitter (and blocking me for making fun of that fact....bastard) It's too bad he blocked me I could have probably sent him $20 and got him to read all my Southwest stuff in the 1983 project and give me hilarious feedback. I would have also liked to hear his take on my Sunshine plans "Bro she doesn't even get knocked up by Joe Blanchard!?"
  3. I don't think the uncatalogued discussion was really Tharpe not giving a straight answer as much as him just legitimately not knowing.
  4. To me it seems obvious he isn't winning either but I'm so tired of battling the "OMG WHY WON'T VINCE DIE SO SOMEONE OTHER THAN CENA CAN GET OVER!?" crowd on other boards I haven't bothered to point it out here.
  5. He worked out with HHH a few times the son of a bitch can NEVER EVER be forgiven for that!
  6. I just watched this and enjoyed it and it really was all action. I think it probably would have benefited if they'd have slowed down just a bit and down more to work over Bobby Fulton but this is still a fun match.
  7. El Grim Apollo is a cute shot. Not as good as the character I've been doing since my very first TV episode to mock WWF, but it's a nice start. I've gone the more subtle route however.
  8. This reminds me of Pat Rose working as Mr. Wrestling II in Southeastern when the real Wrestling II came in and said he should only be known as Mr. Wrestling from now on and that he had found someone else to be Mr. Wrestling II. It was after he did all the heel stuff in Mid-South so it was kind of a direct copy.
  9. Jake Roberts vs. Terry Daniels - 3/22/85 Jake Roberts dominates Daniels in the early going with the crowd rooting Daniels on. Interestingly enough though Daniels is booed when he throws the first punch at Roberts who had been pretty much wrestling clean up to that point. This is pretty much an extended squash but an enjoyable watch although I did not care for Terry Daniels selling of the DDT.
  10. Kevin Von Erich vs. Chris Adams 1/18/85 Another match that made the Mid-South set. I distinctly remember that I didn't like this as much as everyone else and clearly there was something wrong with me because this is an AWESOME fight. It's a short match going only a little over 6 minutes but it's all action. Just two dudes who hate each other who and want to inflict punishment. Check this one out for sure it's well worth the 6 and a half minutes of your life.
  11. Rock N Roll Express & Jose Lothario vs. Hector & Chavo Guerrero & Buddy Landell 1/18/85 This match was on the DVDVR set so I'd seen it before but that was a long time and many...well never mind but there are reasons I have forgot it. I seem to remember it had pretty rough VQ on that set but that's obviously not a problem here. This is so much fun and the crowd is HOT. I loved seeing the heels stooge and bump for Jose's punches early and Jose can still throw a nice punch which is good because that's about all he has left in the bag. Lots of fun double & triple teaming by the heels and a really good false finish that I totally bit on. Just another match building a case for Chavo & Hector as an all time great team.
  12. Did The Fabulous Ones actually work Mid-South proper or were they just guys Paul Boesch was using in Houston?
  13. I watched this a while ago so it's not 100% fresh in my mind but I feel like people need to seek this out: Perro Aguayo vs. Sangre Chicana - Cage Match Monterrey Early 90s - I do not know the exact date on this. This is a Cage match which seems to not be that common in Mexico especially from this time period. There is really nothing fancy here just two dudes beating on each other with punches and trying to climb out of the cage but with great selling and drama. Eventually they get tired of the referee trying to stop them from beating on each other so they attack him, and rip his clothes off and send him out of the cage! Then they wrap his tattered clothes around their fists and go back to beating on each other. There is no finish as eventually the ref comes back with new pants and throws out the match but it's a really fun spectacle.
  14. Just watched the Guerreros vs. Doc/Dibiase Cage match and man that was great stuff. I love the Guerreros more with every match. shoe already said what the finish was but I don't like to do that so I will just say that shit got heat with me even if it is 30 years later. Now I want to see The Guerreros get their revenge! But none of that is up yet I've been keeping track of what I've watched so far and I've seen 37 out of the 90 matches that are up right now. That's a pretty rapid fire pace for me when it usually takes me close to a year to finish a Best of the 80s set.
  15. I enjoyed Bruce Tharpe's interview with Dave Meltzer but Bruce is still very much a promoter at heart. I couldn't help but smile at him saying "Every match that we've got up there is a main event that people are gonna love." I thought it was interesting that he said he had a few people reach out to him with libraries to sell after the site launch but he didn't really have the time or money to dedicate to anything but the Houston library.
  16. I was just naming Brock for this thread. I know nothing about Volk Han. I think Lesnar also totally defies the "needs 10 years of experience" deal that Parv is talking about too. Gino Hernandez is another name for this thread.
  17. Brock Lesnar.
  18. Jules Strongbow is in WWA and Jay Strongbow is in Mid-South. I don't know who Robert Reed is other than pure 100% jobber.
  19. This isn't even true. Ambrose wasn't on Battleground but Roman Reigns wasn't on the KOTR special or the Elimination Chamber. Ambrose main evented Elimination Chamber & MITB even if he lost. Ambrose has been given more to do since Mania than Roman really. The only match Roman has won on PPV since Mania was a match against Big Show, he lost at Payback, MITB & Battleground. If I wanted to waste my time looking up who has had more time on Raw I'd imagine it would probably be Dean Ambrose.
  20. They just uploaded a Guerreros vs. Fantastics match that has me wishing I didn't need to head out the door right now.

    WWE TV 7/27 - 8/2

Everyone got all up in arms the last time I said it, but Roman Reigns getting the IC title would feel like a big step down for him. The U.S. title would be one thing since Rusev and then Cena have really built it up but the IC title hasn't meant anything in years.
  22. MVP didn't get fired he quit.
  23. Bruce Tharpe tweeted that they had a ton of new subscribers today, which I would assume is due to word of mouth going around at the Charlotte fanfest which is only good news for those of us loving the site so far.
  24. It might be a few days before I post my 2 house shows, I'm feeling a little burnout right now so I'd rather just wait until I feel like writing something rather than force it.
  25. Why would you hope that DOESN'T happen???
