Watching Chikara High Noon. I really liked the Green Ant/Tursas match. It felt like a satisfying grudge match. The visual of Green Ant not being able to turn Tursas for the Texas Cloverleaf and kicking him in the back until he turned was pretty cool.

They don't own Memphis, and likely never will, as most of those tapes are gone. They also don't own smaller territories like Continental or Portland. But they do own all of the major ones, and even some not-so-major ones like Smoky Mountain. I thought the biggest obstacle to Memphis was that no one really knows who owns what anymore.

Headbanger Mosh was on the Art of Wrestling this week and touched on this a bit. He talked about how he thought Vince liked to make guys his own and didn't like guys coming in with a gimmick he didn't have his hands on. Thought it was funny considering this thread had popped up just recently.

It was kind of sad when they were making a huge deal about Bob Lurtsema like they had scored a big celebrity name.
-
I think they mentioned it on the Biography episode about Andre. They said they pretty much exclusively talked about cricket on the drives.
-
Yeah, they got like 4-5 months of television out of Nikita Koloff working like 3 dates for them.
-
As a sidenote. It amazes me that RoH has him on the roster and he's so forgettable. They really do suck all the life and fun out of everyone.
-
I think it's just Peck leaving for the time being. This is Mike Quackenbush, he's not going to let the nerd lose to the jock at the end of the day.
-
No, that's hilarious though. Evans has really become one of my favorite Chikara wrestlers though.
-
Shit like this is why I love Chikara.
-
Does anyone else feel like the Dasher/TD version of the Throwbacks just isn't as interesting as Dasher/Sugar were?
-
I've given the RoH tv show multiple tries over the course of it's run. It's just tedious as fuck. Richards is just a bore. Honestly, watching that youtube video of Kevin Steen stuffing his face with cake after winning the title made him more interesting than Richards was for the entire year as champion. Also Kevin Kelly sucks. He managed to single suck all of the fun out of that Chikara trios match with how he played it and Nigel is barely better. Honestly, after hearing Ultramantis Black on commentary, he would be a huge upgrade over both guys. As for TJP and the Bucks. I think both are a loss for the mid-card. I think they were good for changing things up on shows that were otherwise tedious with guys all doing the same act. I usually looked forward to the stuff they were involved with the most. The Bucks especially are a huge loss since that cuts the roster down to 3 tag teams. I would've seriously considered cutting Mike Mondo and Rhino before I would've ever touched the Bucks or TJP.

Chikara DVD is out already. I think it is room for concern when you look at these factors: 1. They're losing money on a ton of their live shows. 2. They've completely poisoned the iPPV well with the constant technical issues. And kind of an a point to this. They're putting on which is essentially a free iPPV coming up this month because of how badly they've botched the last 3 shows. 3. The company was in the red when Sinclair bought them last year. So they aren't hitting the numbers in their new markets, they've destroyed their iPPV business and they were already losing money before all of this happened. To be 9 months in with your new owner and to have him already pulling back on talent is a bad sign for a company in RoH's position currently.
-
Well then, guess I'll just grab the DVD and a few others.
-
The Chikara iPPV sounded fun. I'm torn between buying the replay today and watching it or just waiting for the DVD to pop up in a few weeks.
-
Yeah, he's one of the few guys on the roster that is of interest to me too. RoH is 9 months into their new television deal and they'e already cutting costs. This is going to be on top of essentially putting out an iPPV this month that's going to do a zero buyrate due to what happened last time. This really seems like the end is on the horizon for them.
-
RoH told the Bucks and TJP that they won't be on upcoming shows because they want to cut costs. That's a really bad sign if you ask me.

Nah, I loved Hillbilly Jim. The lead up to him "becoming a wrestler" was great stuff. Jim was a "fan" in the crowd for months on Saturday morning TV. At first they didn't acknowledge him, then they'd occassionally say "Oh the big guy doesn't like these tactics!", to him getting so upset at heels being evil that he jumped the rail to help Hogan, I think. Then they had Hogan train him to be a wrestler. Hillbilly Jim was over as fuck, and then he broke his leg I think? I've been watching the 1985 Championship Wrestling shows and saw those vintages. Honestly, Hulk training Hillbilly was absolutely brilliant stuff. Hogan getting pissed off at Hillbilly for always having his hat on got some laughs out of me.

Don't forget all the divas that were "fired" because he was sexually harassing them.
-
No. I could write a fucking novel about how much a failure he is as a worker and a top level guy and how there are probably 50 people that have gotten fired for less than the shit he pulls. I hate the double standard bullshit in companies and he is the prime example of how you can do no wrong when you're a HHH buddy.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Mad Dog replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
The sad thing is I think they could play dubbed episodes of Ring Ka King and do better ratings and PPV buys than by keeping Impact. -
Is it wrong that this actually makes me happy? Is it wrong that I won't be happy until he's fired?
-
I agree. It's just obvious that there was no faith in him when you really break down how he was booked on a weekly basis. I think stronger booking would've made him less of a disaster. He really just looks like a dope on a weekly basis and he never really gets any revenge on guys. Hell, he didn't even get to out Mantell away with his finisher to end their feud. If you can't beat the color commentator then who can you beat? And did Paul Orndorff really need to be protected in the final of the Heavyweight Title Tournament? Like I said, he wasn't suited to the role but the booking completely exposed him and undercut him at almost every turn.
-
I kind of feel bad for Brian Lee. He wasn't suited to being the ace but he got fucked by the booking a lot. You can really tell they didn't have faith in him the way he gets booked. Just a lack of decisive wins in key situations and not being treated like he was the guy.
