  1. I agree and disagree. A failed test is a failed test and Rey should get off of whatever he's on if he doesn't like it. But I think it's shady as fuck that they sat on the results for 10 weeks and would've happily let Rey work Mania without telling anyone he failed the test. And from there I have to question if he would've been suspended at all if he came back. This makes me question how loosely they play with their test results and if lower card guys and guys that piss them off are the only people at risk of failure.
  2. I follow NWA Anarchy and NWA Hollywood regularly now. And really, I only do that because I can watch the television on my tablet in bed.
  3. Is there any reason that Butch Reed had the same managers as the Horsemen but was never really associated with Flair and Windham in 89? It's kind of weird to watch. He seems like he would've been a natural fit for them.
  4. Nice, Gangrel sighting as he's doing job duty for Abdullah in 1989.
  5. I think Robocop was more about the limitations of the suit or whatever Robocop was more than anything.
  6. Nothing really surprises me when it comes to wrestling.
  7. Isn't pointing out Hayes' racism kind of like pointing out that leopard has spots.
  8. This is a trope I miss but I miss the fat man wrestler trope with the generic fat man offense.
  9. Usually watching WWF Television is like pulling teeth for me but the 1985 show has been really watchable. I'm kind of excited to dig a little deeper into these Championship Wrestling shows.
  10. Watching 1985 WWF Championship Wrestling. There's a segment of Hulk Hogan trying to get Hillbilly Jim into shape and it's fucking brilliant.
  11. I don't have any interest in tag matches that don't have a FIP situation. That seems like a needless reinvention of the wheel. Now, poorly done FIP I could do without but when done right it's a formula that works every time. But the key is the teases, the heels using blind tags and the little things they do to cheat while beating the shit out of a face. Hell, I didn't even know who the RockNES Monsters were the first time I saw them in NWA Hollywood and I instantly latched onto them because they worked the FIP well despite being a couple of spot monkeys. Here's the link to the tropes listed: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main...sionalWrestling I think out of the ones listed on the site I'm most tired of the glass jawed referee.
  12. I stopped watching when Russo came back in 2006 so I'm trying to remember things that I haven't watched or thought about in 6+ years.
  13. I think they only locked up once during the weekly PPV era and that was the highly anticipated one in March or April of 2003.

Let's see, I was a late finder of wrestling so this would be my first show ever live. The Goldberg/Giant match was essentially move for move from their Nitro match a week or two later. Seeing Goldberg hit the Jackhammer on the Giant was awesome live. My friends and I were stuck behind some dumbfuck kids that brought signs to a fucking house show. Yeah, still bitter about that shit. The matches on this show were pretty good. I remember Psychosis/Tokyo being pretty good and Guerreros vs. Wright/Inferno were good. Inferno came out with a Tennessee jersey on and went on some big tirade that pissed off the crowd really good. Kidman/Iaukea was good. The crowd hated Bret Hart. The tag team match got tossed out when Bret Hart got involved and Sting came out and convinced them to do the second match. Wrath manhandled Davey Boy and I imagine this was one of his last WCW appearances. There was a lot of energy and excitement for the show. It was at the Convention Center. I bought a Sting mask and a Wolfpac shirt. I might've bought my Monday Night Jericho shirt here but that might have been the Nitro a couple of months later.

This was my only ECW experience. The Newport Music Hall is this complete shithole on the Ohio State campus. The building literally feels like it should be condemned. The ring was set up right in front of the stage where bands would play. The show started like an hour late and it was standing room only. So my friends and I were crammed in this shithole with a bunch of sweaty smelly guys, I've said before, I don't think there was a single vagina in the building. It was a fun and crazy experience. I had wandered up to the balcony later in the show and the Sandman almost ran me over for his entrance. I saw Dawn Marie up close when she was signing autographs and New Jack actually wandered around mingling with the crowd and signing autographs. I should mention a final time that this place is an absolute shithole of a building. I remember Whipwreck dragging a pretty good match out of Credible. RVD/Guido was disappointing from what I remember. Chilly Whilly was crazy over but they announced him as studying Pimpology at Ohio State so that got him over with the crowd pretty good. EDIT: Forgot, the crowd shit all over the first two matches as no one had really heard of any of the guys involved. Hellraiser was liberally giving the finger to people in an attempt to get heel heat and the crowd just fucked with him instead. He used a Jackhammer for the finish and the crowd chanted Goldberg for like 5 minutes after that. Balls Mahoney also led a sing-a-long to Big Balls by ACDC after he won his match.
  16. Yeah. His match with Jarrett was good. The Abyss match was good. I'd really have to revisit his run though.
  17. There's a good Jarrett/Brown match from late 2004 Impact. The two Killings/Jarrett matches from 2002 are good. The LAX vs. Styles/Daniels matches are good. There's a 2006 garbage brawl with Jarrett and Raven that is amazing when you consider the fact that Raven can barely walk. Waltman had a string of good matches in the 2005 dark period. There's a good Styles/Sandman match from 2003 too.
  18. Still running shows here and there I think.
  19. Also, Goldberg hitting the Giant with the Jackhammer was a cooler visual than anything HHH has ever done.
  20. I have to defend Goldberg on his ego. Yes, he had an ego but if he had gotten his way more often he would've been less damaged in WCW and the WWE. When it came to his character, Goldberg's instincts were usually correct on what would and wouldn't hurt him. Also, the Goldberg/DDP match is something HHH could never do. That match worked because it was the first time that Goldberg showed some cracks in the armor. You weren't used to seeing him sell and he did such a good job of it that when DDP caught him with the Diamond Cutter it was a holy shit moment because you thought he might actually pin the monster. I also think Goldberg had a far better moveset than HHH. Better finisher and having been in the building, Goldberg's entrance whipped the fans into a frenzy with anticipation. HHH's entrance is just boring as fuck.
  21. The TPI shows from the high points of the company are probably a good place to start.
  22. I'm really kind of amazed by RoH's complete indifference to how pissed off their fanbase is over the PPV feeds. They really need to hire a PR person for these situations. Someone with common sense would be offering something to people that dumped money into shows they couldn't watch.
  23. I watched two Big Daddy matches and that was enough for a lifetime.
  24. Oh man. Trytan might have been the worst wrestler ever if Nathan Jones didn't exist. I remember he had a really awkward offense and his finisher was brutally bad. I did like the gimmick though, kind of a shame they wasted it on such a bad worker.
  25. That would explain the second half of the book being less enjoyable.
