  1. I wouldn't cut Brown off at the knees for Christian. You can do plenty without giving Christian the title. He can go over several guys for several months and get screen time without getting a title shot.
  2. You're paying for a name not skill. Chris Leben will bring in more buys and viewers than a Joe Riggs should so he should make more money. Why spend that 12k on someone that will bring in a few hardcore fans or spend that on an TUF fighter and drag in several thousand from people that watched the show. It's smarter of the UFC to spend on guys that will give a greater return. Lindland is solely to blame for his firing. Had he not worn the shirt he'd still be employed. If you disobey the boss you're going to get canned. As for Salaverry, it was in his contract that he was gone after a loss. Considering it was their first Fight Night he needed to perform and he didn't. It doesn't mean that he won't be back. As far as how much the money the owners have. Business is about the bottom line. The UFC's highest buyrate ever was 150,000 buys and that was several years ago. They aren't going to flush their fortune on the UFC. They have to pick and choose or you end up like WCW.
  3. Opps, double post. Read below.
  4. Good. This could open the floodgates to TNA gaining a lot of talent in a short period of time. Hopefully Jericho, Benoit and Heyman are on the way before the year ends.
  5. UFC doesn't have the financial resources of Pride though. They pay what they can but at the end of the day they've got to make a profit and have been a niche sport until recently. If they can build a solid fanbase and add buyrates you'll see fighters make more. I'm sure they'd love to pay their top fighters six figures per fight but it just can't happen. No one has said it here but the hate that the TUF gets is absurd. A lot of people act like these are just guys they grabbed off the streets. Most of these guys were coming to the UFC sooner or later. They just choose a way to make them bigger names.
  6. No one's saying Mir is as good as any of those people. But he's good by UFC heavyweight standards. Frankly they need him back pretty badly right now to get some talent in the division. Arlovski will beat him though.
  7. The sad thing for them is Styles is a whore for money so they'll probably never get rid of him as long as he's getting a check. He sounded really disgusted with Coach by the end of the night. Lawler seemed to be too.
  8. Part of me thinks they're doing this to try and get Styles to quit. He was awful. Lawler is pretty bad but I don't think he's ever touched how bad Coach was tonight. It wasn't a bad show but Coach just drug the whole thing down.
  9. The announcing is a total trainwreck tonight. There's no chemistry going on and I'd go so far as to say Coach is trying to sabotage things. He's been awful tonight.
  10. I think Shelton's getting booted in next year's house cleaning. If they really want Joey Styles doing PBP then everyone else has to go and they need a new color guy. They have Foley under contract, give him another shot.
  11. I think he could get O'Haire and Waterman for his heavyweight division.
  12. I would guess Heyman's big idea is worked MMA and that would bomb horribly.
  13. Some guys have better ones than others (Frank Mir snapping Sylvia's arm like a twig for starters).
  14. As far as UFC goes he fizzled out. The times I've seen Leben he hasn't impressed me. He's too careless but that will get better with experience. But he's a total headcase and I think he'd be gone if he ran into a couple of losses because of how he freaks out.
  15. I was watching the Unleashed that had Lawler/Diaz. Robbie Lawler reminds me of Chris Leben. A great striker with no ground game and Leben will probably fizzle out like Lawler did.
  16. It seems a lot of the firings over the last couple of years have been more based on if Steph likes you.
  17. Yeah, OVW has been a sore point for awhile. The front office managed to give Jim Cornette a breakdown by fucking over all the talent after they left and the whole Boogeyman thing. Actually managing to drive Cornette away from wrestling even for a short while takes a special kind of idiocy.
  18. I don't currently have a sub but yes it's 99.99999% likely to be true. When has Steph ever gotten along with anyone with a wrestling background on the writing staff? I think once Vince dies she'll chase every wrestling person out of the fed.
  19. There's one I've seen, not sure from where. The guy breaks his shin on another guy's leg and it just collapses under him and he falls back on it.
  20. I think my first reaction was to grab my arm. Just thinking about it makes me want to rub my forearm a bit. I don't know which I'd take for sickest moment it or the Marvin Eastman cut.
  21. That reminds me. I had UFC 49 in the other day and they had a replay of Mir snapping his arm. Sick....
  22. So where does the UFC go next for the heavyweight division. Arvloski doesn't appear to have any challengers left until Frank Mir's ready and that could be never. Do they serve up a TUF loser like Mike Whitehead for him to destroy? Do they go to him and the Maniac or just import some talent for him? I guess I shouldn't bash Sherdog too much. I've bounced around all the bigger MMA sites and all are just as bad. I'm also thinking about getting a few UFC DVDs when I get the 1st season of TUF. Are 50 and 51 worth my time?
  23. Actually it has more to do with being on tv. You can't bring in advertisers when your fighters are giving away freebies on tv. That just one of those things, they probably still allow it on PPV. As for Sherdog. I mostly go there to laugh at the posters. A lot of them are exactly the same type of smark that I can't stand where they say they want something and then when it's done they go and complain about it again. When I call them trolls it's not referencing an internet troll. More that you can't call 3/4 of them human. I was thinking the same thing but the more I thought about it I think the ref made the right call. The first time Brad immediately grabbed onto Rashad and I think he did the same thing the second time. That shows that he wasn't hurt that bad and the fight probably would've been stopped had he just covered his face. But like I said it's a nightmare for the UFC because Rashad will drop to light heavyweight immediately.
  24. I thought it was a great night. Diego proved himself to be a real contender in the welterweight division and it'll be interesting if he ever locks up with Stevenson. Luke and Brad both showed a lot of balls during their fights and I hope the UFC offered them contracts after the show. Brad has limitless potential as a fighter. Stevenson will make a great addition to the UFC. He's a very experienced fighter. I have to think Rashad winning is a nightmare scenario because he'll probably drop right down to 205. They probably wanted a guy that would remain a heavyweight. Florian was impressive. He looked a lot better than his previous fights. And if the rumors are true they probably want him around for when they bring the lightweight division back. If you want to see the worst MMA has to offer, wander over to Sherdog and see the trolls there at work.
  25. If he works 14 hours a day and has taken one vacation in the last decade. I'd say the guy has sacrificed a lot.
