  1. The pic of the new layout of the F4W newsletter looks exactly like the Torch looked when I subscribed (for all I know, it still looks like that).
  2. Lister dug up the "Big Daddy" Bruno Beefcake article: http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/s_137454.html
  3. Dave is aware of the board and has read stuff here, nothing's behind his back.
  4. Oh, and your post reminded me that it was based on an email asking if Dave would ever re-evaluate and re-rate matches that don't seem to hold up anymore. They did also mention wrestlers saying "we didn't work X match in 1994 for someone on tape in 2009" and such.
  5. I don't even remember how it got brought up, though it segued into Bryan rewatching Hogan-Warrior II and noting that he didn't think it was close to -5* anymore.
  6. Well, it's wrestling so it's obviously not some sort of employer-related retirement account. It's probably something like a CD (maybe that he invested in w/ Beth) that has a big penalty. Figured it might be Madden that you quoted but I wasn't sure if "cornettefan" as username was sarcasm...
  7. Not familiar w/ the Torch board so just tell us
  8. They also went into how they think you can only rate a match on the day it's held unless you can get into the proper context of where the promotion was at that point in history. Dave's noted that things could change based upon moves being invented and moves being ruined, among other things. In those aforementioned cases...maybe. Something like Liger-Dragon from the 1/4/93 dome show (and I know it was never held in especially high regard, but I don't think people crapped on it, so work with me) is horrible now. It looks like the forefather of generic indy junior matches now because everything in it is played out. Plus, a match that's largely spectacular spots is going to look different based on the fact that flyers are so much more spectacular now, and in general, context is always important. Otherwise...I don't know.
  9. Well, Ronnie P. Gossett wasn't blackballed for selling 50% of Nick Gulas's promotion when he owned 0%, just convicted...
  10. What do you expect from a guy who spends money like he does, loves to get recovering addicts drunk, runs around naked in public while spinning his penis, looks up skirts to check if women have pubic hair so he knows whether or not to proposition them, etc.?
  11. Flair defrauded Highspots.
  12. And from the same Observer...
  13. From the new classic WON: I had no idea that NOW had Tanaka funding. I get PWFG and SWS/WAR being separate promotions because one was shoot style. I don't get funding a indy that wasn't on a lot of people's radar on top of the "traditional" and shoot stlye groups.
  14. It also doesn't make sense that Patterson would stay secretly employed and then come back if he was involved with the Cole stuff given that Phillips and Garvin never came back for that very reason, even if Patterson was closer to Vince & Linda. Also, when talking to Meltzer, Vince kept defending Patterson long after he gave up defending the other two.
  15. That Bob Bradley is the RVD tag partner and not Superbad/Battle Kat II.
  16. Maybe I never read the full version of the Penthouse article, then. Was Cole's claim about Patterson supposed to be from after he turned 18? Graham was the only one who was calling Patterson a kidtoucher and he was discredited. It doesn't make it good if he groped Cole, but it would clear some things up. All of that said, Dave Meltzer, who has the best grasp of the scandals, hasn't mentioned Patterson w/ Cole in recent years, just Garvin and Phillips.
  17. Tom Cole claimed Patterson inappropriately grabbed him. And Cole was apparently believable since he got paid off. Did he say that? I remember Superstar Graham saying that he saw Patterson grab a ringboy's crotch but everyone seems to think he was lying. I don't remember Cole saying anything about Patterson, just Garvin, and Phillips.
  18. http://www.cagesideseats.com/2009/10/14/10...odcast-10-14-09 I'm joined by Rob Naylor and Colt Cabana as we discuss midget wrestling throughout history. Lots of fun stuff including whether or not it's okay to find midgets adorable, Cabana on his love of using comedy spots borrowed from midgets, Little Beaver's appearance in Meatballs III, Billy Barty and Lou Albano in Bodyslam, a green Cabana missing his shot at being (a) Doink, Ninja Turtles, Roger Ebert's dirty mind, and much more. An action packed 80 minutes!
  19. No, but I've encountered enough people on the internet that it wouldn't shock me to see some wrestling fan determined X female wrestler was "now a whore" and decided to kill her.
  20. That makes a certain degree of sense. Now explain Jamie Walters.
  21. I've wondered why that seems to happen so much more with daytime soaps than other TV shows, except for the aforementioned Jamie Walters stuff which seems like it was even worse than the daytime shows as far as how open and widespread it was.
  22. Wait what? When was this and what was the context? How can you be a long-time wrestling fan of some sort and not know what the A-Team was? Its existence gave us the initial Wrestlemania angle.
  23. Todd Martin didn't bother to remember the names of the women from Access Hollywood or pretended not to know them. Either way, it's annoying.
  24. Looking at old posts and noticed this went unanswered. I always thought Dave finding the Bravo house show runs suspect was a Montreal mob reference, not a casting couch reference.
