  1. This is the one where WWE was pushing it was a five star match afterwards when going through the curated tweets, right?
  2. On Legends of WrestleMania on the network, he broke down crying talking about Reid when Cole asked about his family being there for the Michaels match. Super uncomfortable to watch and really, really bad ad-libbing on Cole's part.
  3. He doesn't need to dissect every component of Robinson's working style for it to be a good bio. Probably would've dragged it down, to be honest.
  4. One thing to keep in mind is that the Mikey Whipwreck trainees started at the House of Hardcore before ECW closed. So the Maximos, Quiet Storm, and Chris Devine all would've showed up in ECW at the very least. I don't think Brian XL was a Mikey trainee.
  5. That's a very good question and I don't know the answer. Anyone?
  6. The opposite, he positions Robinson as a brilliant pro wrestler.
  7. I'm not sure Adomian's Ventura impression is actively good as much as he figured out the key to doing it is basically "Minnesota accent in a gruff voice."

They'll pretty much have to work something out with Jim Cornette to have something worthwhile.
  9. I got progressively more optimistic with both the announcement and the launch. When you throw in factors like the rumors about how surprisingly well UFC is doing with Fight Pass, I'd say the latest Meltzer guess (that there's pretty much no way they'll be under 750K, and 850K is a more likely low end) sounds right to me. Anywhere from 850K to 1.25 million would not surprise me at all.
  10. Rumble and Chamber weren't WWE Network shows. They were regular PPVs under the old contract with the standard 30 day window.
  11. ANYTHING THAT AIRS ON THE NETWORK WILL BE AVAILABLE ON DEMAND ON THE NETWORK AS SOON AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE. This question has been asked and answered everywhere for weeks. So, what you're saying is, I can watch Wrestlemania immediately after it airs live? More or less, yes. How long has it taken for past live shows to show up? That long. I'm just messing with ya. YOUR ANSWER IN ALL CAPS AND THE SIGH OF DISDAIN THAT FOLLOWED CALLED FOR AN UNNECESSARY FOLLOW UP JUST BECAUSE. I apologize, I more or less hit my repeated network questions breaking point during launch week.

  13. Someone needs to recap that David Benoit interview so I don't have to watch it. Not just because it's uncomfortable, but because the interviewer is driving me crazy. The first interviews with him and Sandra Toffoloni being these little things on obscure sites is very very weird.

I doubt they can script Piper. He's...not all there, and while that's been clear for a long time, it's becoming more obvious. In the past week he's done a WWE video where he said Andre used to talk about how he was proud of Big Show and tweeted Renee Young talking about what a tough lady wrestler she is.
  15. Awesome stuff, thanks Mike. I knew Kerry no-showed his debut and decided to go to the WWF, but I had no idea Orndorff was his replacement.

"You OK, baby?!?!?" was like the cherry on top of this last run.

    Unsure if serious.
  19. I forget exactly how they worked, but the Acclaim and TNN deals did much more harm than good. I know the upgrades to the production equipment to get it up to TNN standards was a major outlay.
  20. I think John Lister broke this down once in detail, maybe in his ECW book, but it's pretty much impossible ECW ever made a profit once it really got going. Their costs increased too much as they drew more.
  21. Toronto (as well as Hamilton and London) never got full shows, just select matches as Canadian content for the Canadian syndicated shows. Plus airing on the recap shows and in international syndication. They ended around the same time as MSG, late '91-early '92. Oh, plus the Sam Houston Coliseum was only '87, in a similar context to the Canadian shows: It was shot to include select matches on "Houston Wrestling." Also there were a number of house shows taped only for the recap shows and home video: Stuff from Detroit, the Summit in Houston, and more. Capital Centre, Nassau Coliseum, and the Meadowlands were taped at times under varying circumstances (recap shows/home video, one offs on USA Network, and for Nassau/Meadowlands only, one offs on MSG Network when MSG was being renovated).
  22. I don't think they are now (as in the last 15 years or so) because they have a guaranteed contract. Remember back then they were only paid if they were on the road. Those were undercard payoffs, which were small paydays because the boys were on the road with the crew but not on that show for whateve reason. They didn't want to punish people because they weren't on the show so they would give them something. In a lot of promotions if someone was out hurt, the promoter would take say $50 out of the gate for every house show and set it aside for the injured wrestler. It sure wasn't what they would have made if on the road, but it was something. I kmow Bill Watts, Crockett, Owen, and McMahon would so this. In JCP, each wrestler volunteered...I forget if it was $25 or $50...out of their weekly paycheck to go to the injured wrestler. They did this for Barry Darsow when he blew out his knee and Magnum TA after his accident for sure. Corny talks about this in the MX book. Everyone volunteered to contribute to Barry, and later, Magnum, and Crockett matched them dollar for dollar. I knew I forgot a detail. It was every single active wrestler, too, no matter what their standing was.
  23. Boston was late '85. Philly was '77-'78 I think? LA was '88.

  25. Unless this is something that was different back then, the referees are independent contractor talent as referees and salaried employees with benefits as ring crew. The pay sheet should only reflect their referee pay then, shouldn't it?
