  1. Well, I hope that was the end of people criticizing UFC for not signing Nick Newell.
  2. My biggest "end of the tape" holy grail is this awesome looking tag match from DDT in 2001 that involved a ladder and Michinoku Pro guys like Hideki Nishida (I think it was a "On today's show..." intro). When I asked about it a few years later the guy said he didn't think he had the whole TV episode with it.
  3. Have you seen Natalya vs. Charlotte from NXT Takeover? It was significantly better than any of the Orton-Bryan PPV matches.

What? He said it was legit. Bryan Alvarez then speculated that if he needs another surgery, it could very well be fusion, and I think Dave agreed that made sense.
  5. Stepping away from the Keith/Bayless vs. PWI feud for a moment... What exactly is Keith's deal with The Sporting News? There's no way to find his stuff from their main site. Is he part of some contributor network?
  6. They tested him again a week later in Oregon. Not only did he test positive for HCG and anastrozole this time, but he also became the first fighter (I'm pretty sure this also includes boxing) to test positive for EPO and HGH. AND his statement indicates he's going to try to spin this as part of his transition off TRT, too. Awesome.
  7. The way WWE is now, even if he's in perfect cardiovascular shape, it's entirely possible he could be disqualified from wrestling because of his leg, isn't it?

I thought they actually did a tremendous job laying out the opening segment to get the proper crowd reaction. Vickie's near turns haven't always gotten the desired response.
  9. I'd be pretty shocked if enough people did that for it to name a dent.
  10. According to Wrestlingdata they wrestled 101 times - July of 71 to April of 85 Results from that era on those sites is woefully incomplete.

Freaking love that guy these days.
  12. Different configuration.
  13. I'd imagine that Patterson scene was chopped up to exclude any gay references. I think that's what that was all about, but I can only imagine how over that part went over the fans who necessarily don't know. They've had some fairly obvious references to him being gay so it was kind of weird. Plus, my impression is that he was never really closeted within wrestling, so was it about him being open with the rest of the cast or saying it on TV?
  14. Cannot wait to hear Sulli and Corny. Sullivan was brilliant when I talked to him for FSM.
  15. WRESTLEMANIA 3 ATTENDANCE DISCUSSION TIME AGAIN! For past discussions, see here and here. On the latest WOR, someone asked Dave (noting he knows Dave is sick of these types of questions) how WM3 could have drawn 78,000 if Super Bowl XVI drew over 81,000 people in the Silverdome five years earlier. He doesn't know, and he doesn't think the football number was a work, either, but he saw the building settlement and it said ~78,000, so that's what he believes, plus he's talked to other people in the company about it, and seen their internal records, etc, etc. He also doesn't have the building settlement anymore. I'm now about 95% sure the real attendance is closer to 90,000 and there was skimming going on that put the official record lower.
  16. Then name of the city is "New York." New York City is just used to distinguish it from the state.
  17. It's all about the moderation. Bloody Elbow's comment section is dramatically different from the vast majority of MMA sites because it's moderated really well. AV Club has great comments. Wrestling sites are a different animal, sure, but if you moderate it and foster a community that keeps everyone in check, you'll do fine.

These are the exact words I wrote in the newsletter from the notes Bryan and I were sent: Expect the official on-screen decision about the WWE World Heavyweight Championship to be made this Monday on the Memorial Day edition of Raw in Knoxville. Did Bryan say more on an audio show I didn't listen to yet?
  20. Event Centers, but barely for a few weeks and only in a few markets. He used a different name, too.
  21. I think it was the job Murray Hodgson got.
  22. I laughed at the way he told it, too. When I stopped...Yeah.
  23. I think he was just speaking socially on that one rather than being completely literal. At first I thought the same thing, but when he brought up that he felt the "Well, at least he's around his friends" talking point was bullshit it sure seemed liked he thought SummerSlam was the event Ric went to as "therapy."
  24. No "sort of" if it happened to way Cornette said it did.
  25. Someone might want to tell Jim that Reid Fliehr died the week before WrestleMania, not the SummerSlam panel.
