HOLY MOTOWN,

Based what what he did, yes. Based on his demeanor, not necessarily. Cornette noted once how shocked he was when the mob/murderer stuff came out because Bedlam was such a model employee. If we're including criminal records didn't Ben Bassarab help his and Davey Boy's drug dealer friend torture people who owed him money?

Because that like everything else in these peoples lives would have been all over the tv, internet, message boards, dressing rooms on nc indies where Im at constantly & everywhere else people talk & gossip. Bruce Mitchell is too and he said he has been in serious lock down style rehab in the past. Meltzer used to refer to a serious monthly outgoing Ric had that was personal that stretched him financially on a month to month type basis. Reid was in two different "lock down" type facilities at different points. How are we defining "lock down," the most barebones hardcore rehab possible or Ric & Beth having him involuntarily committed?

I know at least a couple people are going...who should I expect to see and what shows are you planning on hitting? For me: Thursday: PWS in Metuchen Friday: Axxess Saturday: Shimmer WrestleCon Expo HOF Maybe the HOF after party? Maybe THE ROOM? Maybe nothing? Sunday: Outside chance of hitting up Axxess since my press pass will be good all weekend WM Monday: Raw

Dave also mentioned Reid had nearly died of an OD at least once before.

ICW was working with Jarrett by then, so yes, it is ICW.

He got the Spanish language LA show from the Olympic Auditorium on the Spanish International Network (now Univision).

If the studio didnt want The Rock bringing the belt with him and promoting WrestleMania during his media tour, why was The Rock bringing the belt with him and promoting WrestleMania during his media tour a big reason for giving him the belt?

I remember I was going to reply to this months ago but never did. YAY BUMPED THREADS. I believe that what the WWF did was promote the show in vague terms if there was only a single closed circuit location in a given TV market with the intention of misleading people into thinking it was a live show. At least that was what those Observers said, I don't think I've ever seen any of those ads. I told the Dallas(?) story somewhere else on this board once. I believe it was a 40" TV (for screen height, a modern 50" TV would be the closest comparable size).

IIRC the rules as described on Wikipedia are what Dave has written in the Observer... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad_Ali_...nio_Inoki#Rules Once it turned into a shoot with those rules, Inoki literally had no choice but to fight the way he did.

Wade Keller via Twitter: Just in time for Johnny P's documentary release. From one David Meltzer:

The WrestleFest '94 match is very good. Nothing fancy but they had nice chemistry.

In the sense that he's about the same size as Randy Couture...yeah, you're probably right. Who's the most normal-looking guy who Lesnar worked with during his original run?

Loser Leaves Town "2.0" Episode 1 - Steve Corino part 1
Bix replied to Bix's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I had a weird combination of technical difficulties and getting sick on the weekends when I planned to do editing so I think I'll just forgo my shitty intros and outros and get back in gear. -
What he said. Though weirdly the shitty build is making me more excited for Mania. Lowered expectations and all that.

The Wrestlemania 29 Early Spring NY Weather Disaster Prediction Thread
Bix replied to Bix's topic in Pro Wrestling
Well, it's certainly shaping up nicely enough. -
If JVK was a Resident Evil sock puppet that would explain a lot. I'm having flashbacks to his mythical surveys.

It was definitely the second Almanac. John, in the process did you find our where the weird stuff in the "international wrestling" chapter of the first Almanac, IE "Most WAR main events are six man tag team cage matches. WAR is the only promotion in Japan that promotes cage matches."
-
That's because the Superdome Spectacular shows, which started a few years before JYD came to the territory, were an established draw as loaded shows with big name outside talent, big blowoff matches, etc. The weekly shows at UNO Lakefront Arena are a different story.

The book has always been a pain to buy. They sold it briefly twice and then stopped. Good luck, but it is just the people who make it that have created the troubles. There was a third printing a little while back, but...yeah. They could easily market print on demand and/or e-book versions but choose not to. Also keep it mind that it was a fairly expensive book ($40 shipped, I think) when it came out, too.

I am curious how in depth the yellow mist is discussed.

TBS was a free over the air station in Atlanta. In 1976, Turner decided to launch a satellite feed and offer it to cable companies across the US and Canada. Because he got in early, it was a basic/bundled channel for most cable subscribers in the US. When you hear ratings points used instead of the actual audience numbers, different criteria is used for over the air broadcast networks vs cable channels. Broadcast ratings are percentages of all homes with a television. Cable ratings are percentages of homes that actually get the channel. That's how the WWF MTV specials in '84-'85 did close to 10% ratings, stuff like that. Don't even bother paying attention to syndicated ratings in old Observers: Wrestling promotions got a weird exemption where they were allowed to add up all of their shows (both cable and syndicated) to get one big number. Their agreements with Neilsen allowed them to claim the inflated audience figures but they wouldn't be ranked with those combined numbers and couldn't claim any ranking based on those numbers (WCW got heat for claiming to be #1 in the key demos in a big trade magazine ad around late '96-early '97). There was all sorts of gamesmanship here: For example, in the '90s, USWA ratings would be factored in to the WWF or WCW "syndication network" depending on who Jerry Jarrett worked for at the moment.
