  2. As for Cabana, to me the comedy stuff is relatively pragmatic right now. Workrate Indy wrestling has been pretty barren for a while now, in large part because of all of his contemporaries being signed. Yeah, I agree he should probably be working straighter matches against Finlay or Taylor, but otherwise he stands out more as comedy guy with a following whose appeal WWE doesn't get than workrate guy whose appeal WWE doesn't get because he's built his act around WOS inspired matwork. It certainly seems like he has a much more busy and varied slate of bookings than someone like Davey Richards, for lack of an especially good example in 2013.
  3. This is a complete aside but I would guess that the Internet petition saved Meanie's job because it was when Internet petitions were just starting to become a thing. Internet petitions haven't really worked for anything since then unless you count stopping SOPA.
  4. THAT'S WHAT I DO. THAT'S WHAT I DO.
  5. Ivan's always been kind of a weird omission. Is it possible he's someone who they've reached out to who turned them down over religious objections to content or whatever? Very very happy to have my HOF ticket sitting in front of me. This is gonna be so awesome.

  7. His book reviews are generally pretty decent. He nailed the flaws of the Jerry Jarrett book (land deals!) with some entertaining venom.
  8. Is there any kind of backstory to this match being on Pro? The show had been kinda disconnected from the TBS stuff for a while.
  9. Yes.
  10. http://www.memegeneokerlund.com Not sure why I wasn't aware of it, but that is a brilliant domain name and a fun site. BOOM.
  11. Here's the video I was talking about:
  12. I want to know more about Jardine in general.
  13. Oh not with the fucking STF again. Watch the YouTube video of Tony Cecchine teaching it in a shoot context. The stepover toehold his 90% of the STF. Reaching for the facelock does almost as much damage as the actual facelock.
  14. The transition to Dungeon of Doom biker Big Bubba was pretty much the end of Traylor being anything of note in the ring. He went from having really fun, energetic matches with Alex Wright to bad, lethargic matches with Eddy Guerrero.

    1990 Drinking Game

In 1991, when Gossett (wearing a pink hat) came back to help Jarrett & Fuller neutralize Christopher "Honey" Love in their feud with the PYTs (Randy Rhodes & Eric Fontaine), the implication was basically "You think YOU have the most obnoxious fey-acting overweight manager in wrestling? GUESS AGAIN!"
  16. I've been concentrating on my administrative role but I'd like to get back to writing soon.
  17. He's probably always been a great worker. But he's always been a much more entertaining one as a face working a modernized Memphis style. I think it comes down to that. He's had some exceptions as a heel (like the stuff with Angle and Michaels), but the vast majority of his best work is from '86-92 or his random face runs afterwards.
  18. Each slide is not counted as a new read. Also, at least on BR, the arrow keys can be used instead of clicking. List content gets a ton of eyeballs EVERYWHERE. Slideshows are encouraged at BR because it's our mechanism for list content and most people eat it up. Trust me, if it was all a traffic manipulation scheme like Scherer dividing his updates up I wouldn't be defending it, I'd just keep quiet.
  19. I never got the complaint about the slideshows, at least specific to BR, or blaming them for slideshows becoming popular. When sites divide regular articles into multiple pages for no reason? Sure. But at BR, each new slide loads instantly and they're only used for content that fits the format. Also, I'll let you in on the dirty little secret about slideshows: They're NOT programmed because of ad impression models. They're programmed because they're popular.
  20. The SI article about how awesome Henry is: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/art...39686/index.htm Also I wrote this: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/869668-...pion-mark-henry
  21. NOW, BROTH-ER BEAR-ER, WHAT IS YOUR FIRST NAME? Paul. PAUL. BEAR-ER.
  22. The Punk-Rock finish felt weirdly familiar...have they done "Rock wins with the People's Elbow after a restart" before?
  23. Pete is 100% right about Bossman being able to make you disregard his size. I'm pretty sure DiBiase uses a bearhug in their MSG match, which sounds completely ridiculous, but somehow worked.
  24. In more ways than one.
  25. A 14 hour flight knowing he has a blood clot in his leg. For fucks sake.
