  1. What exactly are you taking exception to?
  2. I dunno if they added a link to it but this is what I tweeted last night in response to the thing Mo said about an unnamed reporter (which everyone assumed to be me) in the interview: With regards to what people have been speculating about: First things first, when Mo initially DMed me, this was not a story about Michael Elgin, wrestler I talked to sometimes. His name came up as a local indie locker room leader type who didn't believe her and thus was siding with Sean Orleans. She didn't relay any abuse allegations against Elgin or the stuff from the texts she released later. The screenshots of texts that I saw were about him not believing Mo and asking her to leave him alone. The really inflammatory texts that got the most attention were not shared with me at any point before Mo released them publicly. I made the mistake of not telling Mo that this kind of story could take time, especially while I also had other stories I had to do since I'm a freelancer and and needed to get paid. It was absolutely a mistake on my part, and I am incredibly sorry for it. That said, this wasn't her reaching out in the interim with me no selling her. The conversation at that point had ended with a comment she had made that felt like the last word of a particular thread of messages. Elgin and I had agreed previously on chatting in person after his booking here in NYC. Since the story wasn't really about him at the time and I still needed to dig a bit, I made the judgement call to leave that unchanged. I didn't tell Mo because it's not like Elgin was on the record with me. Again, she had said nothing yet about Elgin abusing her. After his booking, Elgin and I talked wrestling for a few minutes and that was it. Sometimes, someone you know gets linked to a story and you have to act as if everything is normal. It's unfortunate, but it's a reality of this job. Meanwhile, as I attempted to report out what I could, I realized that this wasn't going to be a sufficiently reportable story that I could take to editors. I had been planning on explaining this to Mo, how it had nothing to do with whether I believed her but was just part of the process, and stupidly put it off. After Elgin tweeted about meeting me and we exchanged Wrestling Twitter platitudes (again, trying to keep everything surface status quo) Mo replied, clearly thinking the worst. I DMed her, conceded my lapse as far as explaining the potential timeline, explained the Elgin parts in much the same way I have above, and laid out what would be needed to make this something I could bring to those above me. She told me that she never expected the story to be treated journalistically, just thinking I would call out Elgin and Orleans on Twitter. Not sure what to think, I said I was sorry if I gave her that impression, but that wasn't what I had been looking to do. Eventualy I stopped responding when I gave up on the conversation going on a constructive direction. We messaged occasionally after that, starting with her reaching out after everything blew up a month later. I also gave her a heads up when someone else (the guy who did the story that got vetoed) would be reaching out, as he talked to me to make sure he wasn't stepping on my toes by pitching a story to somewhere that I write for (which wasn't who greenlit it). I don't blame Mo for losing faith in me, though, because of course it looked terrible from her POV.
  3. A lot of the '81-'82 stuff was in Classics on Demand, but the '83 stuff is all new.
  4. Don't get a Roku Express if you can manage it. It's slow and laggy like the very early Roku boxes were. Spend the extra $20 (less if you get the 2016 model) and get the Roku Streaming Stick.
  5. If you really want to get into indie streaming, you kind of need to get a Roku. It's the easiest platform to get a channel/app on and PivotShare is very Roku-centric, so...
  6. Huh? He was involved in that mess? This is the first time I've heard that. If I was him, I wouldn't even admit I had to do with that. That was atrocious. Takada was involved in some really bad worked PRIDE fights. The Kyle Sturgeon fixed fight was far worse however. He's talked about it on the audio before, and here is a quote, that I think is originally from Wrestling Classics: "Coleman-Takada was a work. I can tell you that 100% because weeks before the fight I was involved in a discussion regarding how they would work the finish. There's a lot more to this story but people who don't understand Japan, wrestling and the fight business will never get this, but had Takada not been given some bought and paid for wins early on, Pride would have folded long before Sakuraba got hot and turned it into what it turned into. Business was not good those early years and Takada was the only guy over, and people were losing faith in him. He needed a big win at that moment. It's never been an issue in Japan because all they were drawing were pro wrestling fans until probably 2001 anyway, and they understood business is business." I think he said another time that they didn't use his suggested finish.

    The XFL is returning?

ESPN also has not covered this story yet.

    The XFL is returning?

The key to this random dude knowing is seemingly that he's a random conservative blogger. The person I heard from originally this afternoon has no idea who he is, but apparently one of the reasons Vince wants to do this is seeing an opening thanks to the anti-protest backlash.
  9. Were they? The only national media attention was on daytime talk and tabloid shows. It was largely a New York story. When NBC News was reporting out a segment for a new prime time show around the indictment in late 1993, WWE got it killed when their fixer planted a bunch of nonsense about the producer (an incredibly well respected reporter) colluding with the investigator from the US Attorney's Office. We think of it as a big mainstream story, and it would be absorption gigantic now, but WWE absolutely lucked out that the coverage was mostly confined to a sports opinion column in a not super respected New York newspaper.
  10. It's the same guy, Melvin Douglas Phillips of Philadelphia. Some databases didn't reflect his death until early this year, though.
  11. If, like David Fliehr, my dad was an alcoholic who cut off contact with me, my sister, and my mom for years after they got divorced then yeah, I think that's plenty of reason to be bitter.
  12. I just finally figured out he's kind of a shitty human being. Oh do tell... Because he's kind of a liar who values the few hundred dollars a month from his obsessive stalker message board trolls over supporting his writers against said trolls.
  13. I'd like to see this theory fleshed out. Big Bang to me used to be a hot show but now it's pretty unfashionable. Is it still that popular in the US? It hit its series low in April... ...of 12.1 million viewers: http://variety.com/2017/tv/ratings/big-bang-theory-ratings-series-low-key-demo-1202402682/

  17. I think part of it also comes down to that Bruce was much more of a hardcore wrestling fan growing up than Tony was (as was his brother). So he's much more in sync with the type of stuff that Conrad (or one of us) would ask than Tony is.
  18. WWE tends not to pull down stuff that's not on the network or home videos. Where'd you get a better copy of the TV title change than the one that's always been out there from Jeff?
  19. Apparently the Fire TV app is 100% English. But I haven't used it.
  20. YOU CAN'T PROVE IT.
  21. Wasn't that last one there the first ever WrestleMania weekend ROH show?
  22. I'm on my phone so sorry for quoting your whole post. That is a weird card to judge if Hardy brought more people in. Raven was a big deal in 2003 and that Punk feud really put RoH on the radar. I also remember that Joe/London match being really anticipated at the time. It's a really stacked RoH card.It was also the debut in what would become their signature venue for a while and it was in the New York market. How well did the RexPlex return date draw?
  23. Wait what
  24. Yeah, you would think Highspots would get the shows edited quicker than they do with how high a priority they are.
