  1. Barry Orton vs. Lanny Poffo 5-25-84 Mark Reagan vs. Pat Rose 5-25-84 Rock N Roll Express vs. Buddy Landell & Masao Ito 5/25/84
  2. I vaguely recall him getting Observer WOTY in 1984? Maybe it was earlier. I know he was thought of really highly at the time. I'll look into that one. He might have been a top 10 guy though. It was Flair.
  3. Black Gordman vs Jose Lothario was awesome. A total Jerry Lawler vs Bill Dundee 1998 vibe from me. My thoughts are here. http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/31603-jose-lothario-vs-black-gordman-11384/

  5. Holy crap this was amazing. It's basically your 1998 Jerry Lawler vs Bill Dundee match. Where it's a match based around great punches, super intesity, great crowd psychology, cheating behind the refs back, and heat. The only thing missing was Gordman getting on the mike and talking shit during the match. Both wrestlers were tremendous in this. Lothario is making a run here as an ultimate baby face. I'd like someone to make an Observer HOF punch list to compare him to others in the HOF and guys on the ballot. 4 1/4*
  6. I'll say watching the 1984 Butch Reed so far here , combined with stuff from the Mid-South set he has a real case for most outstanding or Wrestler of the year.
  7. I'll 2nd the love for Tito vs Reed. This is the match we wanted in WWF. They had some good ones, but ones that never got to this level. http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/31602-tito-santana-vs-butch-reed-11384/
  8. This is a really good bout. Reed was good here, but Tito put on an incredible baby face performance. We get an opening shine with Tito working the arm, and by working I mean cranking the shit out of it. Reed fights out and starts to get some heat on Tito. Tito is just fighting underneath the whole time. Gets some hope spots makes a mini comeback. Reed cuts him and really is awesome in his heat segment. Reed is really good going after Tito's neck. Again Tito is great in his selling. The Soup bone from the top rope was a great nearfall. Tito makes a great comeback and they build to the finish. They cut a real good pace, both guys made everything mean something. They told a great story,. Plus I think Joel Watts is the ref. 4*
  9. G1 Night 9 Ibushi vs Tenzan I'm liking the early build here. Though Ibushi having to sell for Tenzan's mediocre offense. It gets better after Ibushi crashes on his flip dive. Ibushi is much better selling physical damage than a limb. I feel they could have built to Ibushi's 1st comeback better. Liking Tenzan being smarter than Ibushi. If we are getting strike exchanges they need to make it good. Great nearfall with the standing twisty splash. Overall this was solid stuff. Tenzan seems to have lost a step since last years G1. 2 3/4* Shibata vs Fale This seems like a match where it might click if worked right. Shibata goes for an early Figure 4. Loved Fale's early shoulder block. The strike exchange was fun here. Shibata's sleeper was great. Fale timing here. The Razor's Edge into a slepper was tight. Super fun match. 3* AJ Styles vs Gallows Digging the big man vs little man stuff. Gallows fucking up AJ on the guard rails, and then on the inside with the corner posts. Gallow's work on top top has been pretty good. Big knee bump by Gallows and AJ targets the leg immediately. Loved the Calf Slicer out of the corner. The story here was really fantastic. My minor complaint is AJ should have beaten him with a Calf Slicer or something that led to the injured leg. AJ built a match that really played to Gallow's strengths. I think Strong is most outstanding this year, but AJ is still a more versatile worker where you see AJ have so many different, and awesome performances. 3 1/2* Naito vs Makabe I 'm digging Naito working the neck of Makabe. Naito is really looking like a ring general here. I liked seeing Naito fight the power bomb. This has been the best I've seen Makabe in the tourney. Some of Naito's roll ups were super fun. I dug how Makabe finished Naito off. 3 1/2* Tanahashi vs Yano They play off their previous encounters. A solid bout.2 1/2*
  10. Thanks a lot. Johnny's jokes are a great, and a great counter point to Steven's stinkers.
  11. The only reason I'm doing it is to get a retweet to get the nwaclassics.com out there. If they don't like fans tweeting them they shouldn't be on twitter .
  12. Kojima vs Takanhashi Takahashi's work on top is focused on the back for the most part. Though the work is really pedestrian. Kojima's strikes are so much more dynamic. I lost interest as this went along. I thought Kojima tried to make it interesting. 2* Anderson vs Nagata Liking Nagata going after Anderson's arm. Anderson targeting the midsection. These guys are working a smart bout.I like to see Anderson working the crowd. Some nice little things like Anderson rollling down the knee brace to inflict more damage. This has been a real good Anderson performance. 3 1/4* Honnma vs Elgin I think Honma makes a good opponent for Elgin. This is a super fun match. Both guys meshing their spots together. I've said it before that Elgin isn't a good worker, but a guy with a few good spots. Honma was able to build a match around those spots and get the crowd to care about the match. 3 3/4* Nakamura vs Ishii Glad you're back Nak. Ishii really taking it to Nak. Ishii going after Nak's neck and back. Of course Nak will return the favor. This match was about the strikes and we got it here in spades. 3 1/2* Okada vs Goto This was real good and had a real old school title match feel to it. The match was worked well and had layers. Both guys did a good job working the neck to set up each others finishers. 4*
  13. Most of the guys like Duggan, Dr. Tom, Dory have been pleasent when I tweeted them about a match I'm watching. Chavo wants to beat me up.
  14. It's fair to say that Chavo Classic isn't a fan of the service. He wants to get in the ring with me for 2secs for being a pirate . I told him I'm just a fan.
  15. I really hope we see Strong and Lethal go 45-56 minutes in Philly.
  16. If that was the case maybe they'll have another Mid-South reunion during mania week. Or the NWA could book an event in Houston like Charlotte's fan fest and push nwaclassics.com.
  17. I echo some of Matt's thoughts about the Fantastics vs Guerreros . The structure was odd in parts. http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/31588-hector-chavo-guerrero-vs-the-fantastics-8384/
  18. I believe this is a new match too, and I was at this show. This was pretty interesting. Chavo has so many variations on the suplex. Fantastics had a really strong shine sequence. They did a great job working the arm and the crowd lost it later on a double row, row, row the boat spot. The heat segments were really weird. Instead of a good sized one on Fulton. We got 3 short ones on Fulton. Still I liked good far outweighed the bad. 3 1/2*
  19. I was at an autograph signing a few months ago. The man was super nice to everyone. His line took so long because he was talking and BSing with all his fans. He took time out to shake people's hands. Just came across as one of the good guys. Never would have guessed out of the group who was there that he would be next.
  20. I interviewed him For Titans of Wrestling. The 1st interview was the most informative. Nothing covered on Meltzer's interview wasn't hit it on in my interview except the El Santo stuff, and Duke Keomuta stuff. We had him on a 2 nd time with Kevin Sullivan and just reinforced stuff.
  21. I hated the spot. I just didn't find it as a match killer. I viewed it as a 30 seconds of not selling a leg that had been worked over. To me Kushida's leg selling against Omega was dramaticallly worse since it destroyed the whole story of the match. Kushida made a choice, but it was worse because it was bad choice after bad choice. Ibushi in Styles 1 showed worse choices. To me they momentarily in the match did a detour, but they corrected it. So it wasn't a deal breaker for me.The work the guys did up until that sucked me in. I do understand it being a deal breaker to some. To justify the spot though I can't get behind.
  22. I can see where you're coming from Dylan. I rolled my eyes watching the spot.I loathed the spot. Yet it might have been a 15-30 sec spot. I can't shit can the whole match because of 30 secs. For you it was a make or break spot. I viewed it as a bad choice . To me it wasn't as bad as shit canning leg or arm work. I thought the work before and after was so great that I'm able to forgive it. Now I've seen people say it was a masterful spot. That's bull shit. Or at least explain it to me. I loved the stifness, and crispness. Since you brought it up I really did find it flawless but that spot and a shitty Ibushi elbow .
