  1. I will say Jake in this match reminds me a lot of Okada.
  2. Terry Taylor vs Jake Roberts 4/19/85 I liked Jake on top early. He had cool angles with his wristlocks. Taylor's work on top was pretty pedestrian. Jake back on top. I'm enjoyoing. The headlock work was really interesting. He transitioned into a vertical chin lock. Roberts snaps his neck on the ropes. Taylor does a payback spot. Taylor catches Jake with a flash pin. 2 3/4*
  3. The Fantastics vs Bill Dundee/Dutch Mantell 8/4/85 This is a new match and it's great. We see all the girls trampling themselves for a piece of a Fantastic. It's insane here. We get a brawl early. Finally we settle down. In the Fantastics opening shine they're great. The heels especially Dundee are showing ass. Finally, they get heat on Fulton. This was solid. Hot tag Rogers, boom bam boom. 3 1/4*
  4. Tenzan vs Gallows This looks scary on paper. Tenzan has been moving around like the Undertaker lately. This is a pretty basic match. The match seems to be lacking a story. The strikes lacked credibility. The finish was worked well. It would have meant more if the work would have built to the finish. Yes Tenzan worked the neck a bit, but not nearly enough for it to matter . 1 3/4* Yano vs Makabe What is potential trainwreck in Japanese? Yano could get a part in a Batman film as a member of The Jokers gang. The comedy was funny, but for the most part the match was nothing. 1* Naito vs Fale Fale won my worst worker of the G1 last year. Let's see if he's up for a repeat. Love Naito's look. An emo wrestler shouldn't have tassles on his boots. I liked Naito's low drop kick. Both guys showed flashes, but for the most part this felt flat. 2* Styles vs Shibata I'm excited about this match up because it's fresh. I liked the teasing of big spots early. Styles arm work was crisp. Shibata with the coolest transition into an abdominal stretch I've ever seen. Nice touch Shibata having to use his left arm for strikes. Big spot Shibata misses AJ and kicks the corner post. Styles starts to work the leg. AJ has such credible offense that he can work any part of the body. Nice sell of his bad wheel by Shibata. AJ's strikes are so wicked. Shibata kind of quits selling the leg, but I'm fine with it since Styles transitioned into strikes. As soon as I wrote that Styles hooks on a Calf Slicer. Now Shibata better sell the limb better. Styles goes for the bad arm . The finish came way too quick like Dylan said. Almost like they clipped out 5 minutes of the build to the finish. Still this was good stuff. The guys stuff looked good, but aspects of the story they were telling didn't seem cohesive. 3 3/4* Tanahashi vs Ibushi Basic exchanging of holds to start. Tanahashi going after the leg. All basic stuff, but it works. Ibushi does a good job selling it . Ibushi kicks him with his bad limb like a dummy, and Tanahashi makes him pay. Now Ibushi transitions on offense. He does kind of shit cans the limb work, but sells it post move.So I can live with that. Tanahashi back on the leg. Dragon Screws and drop kicks to the leg in the ropes. That look pretty wicked. Ibushi again selling the limb post move. Texas Clover Leaf by Tanahashi. I've liked Tanahasi's work on top. Tanahasi eats Ibushi's knees on a 2nd High Fly Flow that Ibushi sells. Comeback by Ibushi. With Ibushi's limb I don't think he should have hit that suplex. Ibushi crashes and burns on his legs. Pele' kick by Ibushi. It didn't hurt the match, but no way was Ibushi going for an arm-rana. For people who believe that I have Last Battle of Atlanta for sale.Ibushi overshot but covered. Overall I thought this was great. 4 1/4* I read Dylan's argument that the leg work wasn't as good as Omega's from last month. That's fine, but seems a little unfair. Than all leg work should be held to that standard. For me Tanahasi's leg work was effective. It told a story. It worked for me even if it wasn't as good as Omega's from last month. I've got to let it sit if this is a thumbs in the middle or up show. I liked it better than Battleground based on the last 2 matches and I would give Battleground a thumbs down. The wrestling was more consistent on Battleground up and down the card, but felt G1 night 1 top 2 matches were better than anything on Battleground.
  5. Chad thanks for helping me out by getting the ball rolling. Yohei Komatsu & Tiger Mask & Jushin Liger & Yuji Nagata vs. Tomoaki Honma & Mascara Dorada & David Finlay & Jay White Watching the young boys run past Honma was pretty sweet. I thought this was fun and had a lot of energy to it, The Honma/Nagata pairing was good. Then Dorada and Liger took it to the next level. This was just a perfect opener. 3* Hirooki Goto & Captain New Japan vs. Cody Hall & Yujiro Takahashi This was crap. 1 1/4* Shinsuke Nakamura & Yoshi-Hashi vs. Karl Anderson & Tama Tonga This was solid stuff. I'm with Chad on the Tonga debate. Most of the time I see nothing in him, but occasionally he'll step up. 2 1/2* Okada/Ishii/Gedo vs Kojima/Elgin/Taguchi Gedo as FIP was well worked. Kojima still has plenty in the tank and expect him to have several really good matches. Elgin in any custom try not to kill the Ace of the company. NJPW roster is really samey that seeing Elgin out there is shocking. 2 3/4* G1 matches time.
  6. They really do.
  7. Some more matches added. Man I love this service.
  8. Welcome aboard guys. Have fun.
  9. I'm guessing this because we have the Reed-Gilbert match uploaded. August 4, 1985 I'd guess no we don't have it. The Fantastics vs. Bill Dundee & Dutch Mantel (8/9/85) The Fantastics vs. Bill Dundee & Dutch Mantel (Tulsa 9/8/85) The Fantastics vs. Bill Dundee & Dutch Mantel (Whip on a Pole) (TV 10/4/85) These 3 matches I know are available. So I guess this is a new one.
  10. Their is also the clips of the Ghetto SF from NO looks super hot. The angles on the WWE Mid=South set were tremendous as well.
  11. The JYD/Reed stuff makes it a serious contender for feud of the year.
  12. I'm guessing this because we have the Reed-Gilbert match uploaded. August 4, 1985 I'd guess no we don't have it.
  13. Thanks
  14. This was an awesome chain match. I like Dog Collar matches better than straight chain matches because the chain being around the neck really makes it feel that much more brutal and dangerous. Butch Reed was awesome in this, especially liked him using the chain to take out Dog's feet after Dog started the match kicking his ass. Also dug the elbowdrops where he wrapped the chain around his arm first. I also really loved the finish to this and Butch Reed pulling on the ringpost while JYD sneaks in behind him got a big laugh from me. I laughed my ass off too.
  15. Just that it's in its testing phase.
  16. Having a Roku app should help drive some numbers.
  17. Wouldn't be surprising..
  18. 19. Sonjay Dutt v. AJ Styles A fun feeling out process. AJ might be the best in the world in setting the table for a match. I didn't like Dutt's delayed bump off AJ's dropkick. The match seems to be finding its voice. I like Style's back work. I mark out for the pop up rana. Styles snappining off the neckbreaker 3 1/2* Styles is so good at elevating his opponents..Styles is the best in the world at making people look in his leaguu-
  20. Butch Reed vs JYD 6/22/84 Ghetto Street Fight This was even better The crowd is so hot for JYD.. JYD is dressed like he's ready for a SF. Reed looks like he's ready for Solid Gold. We get a quick shine with JYD walking tall.Reed gets color early. Reed hits him with some foreign object. He gets some serious heat on the Dog. Reed is so good here. He's just getting so much sympathy on the Dog. He rips off JYD's shirt, whips him with a belt. kicks his ass, makes him bleed.Piledrives him on the floor' and Hits him with high impact stuff. JYD has finally had enough and makes a perfectly timed comeback with piss and vinegar. JYD gives Reed a payback pile driver. Sonny King and Ernie Ladd come out at the finish. The ref awards the match to JYD. 4*
  21. JYD vs Butch Reed Dog Collar Match 7/20/84 I loved this match. We get the typical heel schtick not wanting to put the collar on and such. Reed did this real well. Finally they hook it up and we get a JYD shine. He rolls up the chain into his fist and works over Reed's ribs. The 1st few strikes looked shitty till they got into a groove. Reed cuts him off with an ankle pick using the chain. Reed just busts up the Dog with the chain.JYD begins to bleed and Reed just goes after the cut. Reed really gets a nice heat segment on him. JYD's comeback is good. He busts open Reed. In some pretty vicious spots JYD punches Reed. Reed sells like he's about to take a bump, JYD holds him up while he's out and punches him again. Reed cuts him off, but JYD tricks him and links the chain to the corner. Reed is pulling like he's choking out the Dog. In reality JYD gets back in the ring and delivers a headbutt for the 3. Post match Reed and Ernie Ladd destroy JYD. The Fantastics and Duggan makes the save all lathered up from his shower. 3 1/2*
  22. Butch Reed vs Kamala 3/22/85 Lumberjack match. This was fun. They get the gimmick over early. They work a sprint. Early portion we see Reed bringing it to Kamala. Kamala does a good job selling the ass kicking. He makes a comeback with chops and nerveholds. We go to a finish where everyone has the ref distracted. Barbarian puts his finish on Reed and Kamala steals a win. A fun match. 2 1/2*
  23. Houston kind of was it's own thing. At one point they had WCCW talent, early 80's was Southwest, mid 80's Mid-South. Paul Boesch was the promoter of the town. It would bring in Flair to headline with Mid-South talent to fill out the card. Like St. Louis would bring in Funk vs Brisco and use the KC territory to work underneath the money players. Some of these matches from Houston aired on Power Pro thus why they're in the WWE's library.
  24. Nope it's on WWE's Mid-South set. They mislabeled it on the set. They said it's from NO. It was really this one.
  25. More matches uploaded this morning.
