The Steamboat interview was really good when it was Ric and Steamer talking. Conrad threw the flow off at bits. The opening 20 minutes was fantastic stuff. Flair even answers Charles's question about watching footage.
-
Haha you never know.

Lol, it was like comfort food for me . As in just what I needed.
-
Yes, Will is very good at getting to me.

Right now ROH is feeling like an old school territory. First it really puts an emphasis on tag wrestling. They're loaded with really good tag teams up and down the card. Another aspect that makes them feel like a territory is how they have group of regulars, but then they have guys they bring in here and there for a program or 2. We saw it with the NJPW crew. Patron and Joe were in for a program. Styles and the Young Bucks pop up here and there for a program. Same goes for Gallows and Anderson. So the company seems really fluid to keeps things fresh with a crew that doesn't have a giant roster.

Chris Hero vs Samoa Joe 6/6/15 Smash Wrestling I'm a fan of both guys. Hero is having a great year. A fun feeling out process to start. The styles both guys have along with their reps gives the feeling out process a little zing. Big time strike exchange. Inside and outside the ring. Joe's upper cut looked like it killed Hero. Both guys chests are red. No one has taken an advantage yet. A real back and forth battle. Awesome power slam by Joe. Joe looks to be gaining control using his weight to lean on Hero. Comeback time and Hero with some a variety of nasty strikes. Joe cuts him off and delivers a nasty suplex .Muscle Buster by Joe. Hero rolls to the floor. Hero playing possum and delivers the nastiest roaring elbow. I liked the match. It was stiff . Both guys looked good. I would have liked the match to be fleshed out a little more with longer control segments. It was all action though. It just felt it needed a little breath to take it to the next level. 3 1/2*

https://soundcloud.com/jerryvonkramer/nj-botsj-finals Will is joined by Pete (Titans of Wrestling) and Dave Musgrave (Wrestling Culture) to discuss the latest NJ Super Show. Do Kushida and O'Reilly deliver a MOTYC? How are Cody Hall and David Finlay progressing? When will Honma break out of the multi-man tags? We also do a quick preview of this year's G1 participants. Enjoy

Progress Super Strong Style 16 Tournament Day 1 continued Marty Scrull vs Eddie Dennis This match did nothing for me until they worked toward the finish which was done very well. The body of the match not so much. 2* Mastiff vs Noam Dar No clue what they were trying to do. This was a mess. 1/4* Damo vs Ciampa Big knee strikes by Ciampa to start. Damo uses his strength and posts Ciampa's back. Then follows up with a running dropkick on the floor. iampa crawls under the ring in a spot I detest. Rolling Senton by Ciampa. Strike exchange from the wrestlers. Damo uses his size well in this match. Damo is doing a good job working Ciampa's back. I like Ciampa selling the back damage. They told a solid story. 2 1/2* Zach Gibson vs Zach Sabre Jr. I like Sabre Jr. a lot. Sabre jr takes Gibson down on the mat. Both guys looked versed in the British style. Sabre does some very carny escapes. This has been loads of fun. Nice game changer by Gibson hurting Sabre's arm. Gibson goes after the arm. His work is solid on it. Felt Gibson's heat could have gone longer. The comeback came too soon. Sabre working on top with variations of European Forearms. Gibsom wiffed a headbutt. This was good, but Sabre jr. took too much of the match since he was winning. Technically the best match of the show, but it was missing the ebbs and flows of the Strong/End match 3* Regression vs London Riots This is a brawl. Havoc taking these nasty headfirst bumps into the screen. Havoc with a stiff Rain Maker on the apron. These guys are taking some serious looking bumps. Now it slows down and begins a normal tag except Davis is selling death after his killer bump from a minute ago. Davis finally gets back in the game after a 5-8 minute sell job. Davis is a house of fire. This was a good way to end the show. All 4 guys are working hard. It turns into a free for all for the last 8 minutes or so. They really need to take this home. Other than going too long. This was a fun bout. 3* Overall this was a solid show. Tons of good workers left in the tournament and it should have better wrestling in night 2.

Exile on Badstreet #7 = Underground Kingz

I saw Teddy Hart a couple weeks ago walking around with his cat at Inspire Pro Wrestling. I gave him a state like who hell brings a cat to an indoor wrestling show. Then it clicks that it's Teddy. So I quit my stare. He's booked on the show on the 6/21 I'm going to. I loved these Teddy stories. -
I think Conrad is on the board or has visited PWO based on the Meltzer interview when talking about Verne's credentials. His talking point was very similar to Parvs.

I like Saint, but for me his matches can seem real samey. His matches if you say watch 10 in a row are all worked the same. People talk about Flair being very formula, Saint is way more formula. With that said, his formula is fun to watch. Match one or two it's like that's a coll escape, match 7 or 8 it's like oh he's doing the bouncing ball escape or the handshake spot.
-
I think with Flair, he viewed wrestling as fun, much like a QB in the NFL when playing a game. Neither of them are fans of watching film. With the qb it's part of his job. A wrestler not so much.

Jason Cross was such a unique bird. -
I loved the Abyss bit.

The Liger/Kushida moment came across as really special.

Nick Jackson vs Rocky Romero Some shenanigans to start. Nick heeling it up. Romero with a rana to start a comeback that is shut down momentarily with a superkick. Rocky with a top rope Fujiwara. Some back and forth. Jackson takes control with a swanton. Back and forth again. Romereo's Sliced Bread #2 on the floor was cool. This just isn't resonating. Both guys are being a little too cute for my taste. Lack of structure hurt it in my eyes. Way too many teases of control segments that never happened. 2* YUJI NAGATA & MANABU NAKANISHI & DAVID FINLAY VS. SATOSHI KOJIMA & HIROYOSHI TENZAN & TOMOAKI HONMA I haven't missed Nakanishi at all. Though Honma can work the headbutt spot with a broom. They isolate Finlay and work him over. Now the other side isolate Tenzan and work over his knee. A Nagata and Tenzan fight for a bit. Kojima is in and lights Nagata up. Kojima is a good hot tag here. Nagata with an Exploder into the dead man's arm bar. It's broken up. Honma is in control for a sec. Kind of what you expect. Finlay showed he belonged here. 2 1/2 KAZUCHKA OKADA & GEDO VS. YUJIRO TAKAHASHI & CODY HALL The Bullet Club is working over Gedo. Hall working good big man spots. Hall's punch looked nasty. This is a southern tag with a short shine, heat segment on Gedo, comeback, cut off, small heat segment on Okada, comeback again. Finish. Really basic stuff.Neither of the Bullet Club members are actively good right now so the heat segments were pretty pedestrian. 2* SHINSUKE NAKAMURA & TOMOHIRO ISHII & TORU YANO & KAZUSHI SAKURABA & YOSHI-HASHI VS. HIROSHI TANAHASHI & TOGI MAKABE & HIROOKI GOTO & KATSUYORI SHIBATA & CAPTAIN NEW JAPAN Yano being a total pussy to start. The 10 man tag is such a huge NJPW trope. Nice opening exchange on who the bid dog is between Ishii and Makabe. Same pair offs as usual. It breaks down in Tulsa. Yano takes off the padding. This match is as predictable as a Lethal heat segment. We get a small Tanahashi as FIP segment. The beginning is typical, but then they kick it up a notch. Goto is running wild. The Nakamura/Goto sequence is pretty great. I will say though they've done a good job keeping the mediocre workers activity to a minimum. The pairing off segments have some meat to them. Fuck they all feed to Captain NJ like he's Dusty Rhodes. I loved this match and it built and built into this great dramatic match . How cool would it be to introduce a new new baby face under the Captain NJ mask scoring a pinfall in something like this .Everyone had their working shoes on. Anyways 4* Kushida vs O'Reilly O'Reilly really has an opportunity to show a huge audience what a great worker he is. Kushida reminds me a lot of Rey Jr. I think besides Nakamura, Kushida is a guy who could get over huge in the States. We're mat wrestling to start. The struggle here is well done. O'Reilly going after the arm, and he's bringing new stuff to the dance here. O'Reilly is really torturing him on the mat. Kushida is doing his part selling underneath. Kushida after the arm. Kushida mounts a comeback. Going after Kyle's arm, reversal. Front guillotine by Kyle. Kushida reverses. Kyle with a flying arm breaker from the top. Kushida with a German than a Dragon Suplex. Kushida again ripping at the arm. Kyle counters with a sleeper. Flip dive by Kushida. Holy Moly Kushida does a moonsault into a triangle. Everything goes back to the arm. Kyle with a belly to back suplex from the top. A strike exchange that leads to some suplex throw by Kyle. The drama here is off the charts. Both wrestlers are just bringing it. Look at these guys selling the arms. Kushida with a vertical suplex on the apron. Fish has been a great 2nd. What a match. My complaint is they could have wrapped it up between 3-5 earlier. 4 1/4*

I'm guessing no Suzuki since he's doing an invader gimmick in Noah with his crew.

G1 Climax announcement. 20 men, Okada, AJ Styles, Hirooki Goto, Togi Makabe, Hiroyoshi Tenza, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Yuji Nagata, Satoshi Kojima, Tetsuya Naito, Katsuyori Shibata, Shinsuke Nakamura, Toru Yano, Tomohiro Ishii, Yujiro Takahashi, Karl Anderson, Doc Gallows, Bad Luck Fale, Michael Elgin, Kota Ibushi, Tomoaki Honma This is pretty much the same as last year. You add in Ibushi, and Elgin. Take out Archer, DBS, Shelton, Suzuki. I''m sure we'll still get a great G1 match wise. Still it's so samey and comes across stale. Of all the foreigners you get Elgin who didn't look good on the ROH/NJPW shows in June. Strong smoked him, and Cedric Alexander's match against Okada was better than all of Elgin's efforts. Or even putting Omega in it trying to help elevate him out of Jr contention. I'm not an Omega guy, but would prefer him to Elgin.

Fish vs Baretta Baretta's opening sequence was fun. Fish's heat has a snugness to it. It's very crisp. Loving fish attacking the leg. Baretta's selling of the double stomp. Great counter of the heel hook by Baretta. A really great match. 3 1/2*

Cavenario vs Dorada I'm hoping for a potential show stealer here. Already loving the comedy with the ref. Both guys worked hard all tourney. These guys are working their asses off here. they're cutting a hot pace. Dorada runs off 2 amazing spots including an ACH dive. They're busting out highspots, but they're selling . Man Dorada blows that spot at the finish and takes the sails out of a killer match. 3 1/4*
-
Owens vs Tiger Mask I thought Tiger Mask was the wrestler who did the least in the tourney.Owens should get away from the Tyson Kidd look since Tyson smokes him as a wrestler. Tiger Mask going after the leg was solid stuff. Overall another match that was just there. 2*

Opening tag That was a great camera shot with Liger going for the surfboard. Taguchi is going to buried in the Observer awards this year. Tanaka's delayed German was awesome. Pretty nothing match though.

Progress Super Strong Style 16 Tournament Day 1. I picture Parv in the crowd glaring at everyone deeming them not worthy to listen to his audio. These aren't my people this is a Johnny Sorrow crowd. Will Ospreay vs El Ligero They're cutting a pretty fast pace early. Ospreay early using flashy moves to gain the early advantage. Ligero grounds him for a bit. Ospreay back to the flashy moves . We get some counters of big moves. A lot of flash that lacked substance. It's fun, but not my style. It needed to slow down and have a story to go with the moves. 2* Mark Haskins vs Jack Gallagher Haskins is a guy I like. That was an awesome exchange to start. Some real strong mat wrestling mixed in with some carny escapes. Haskins takes it to the air. Haskins is real gritty on the mat. We get a strike exchange that Haskins smokes Gallagher at. Gallagher gets the leg and rips at it. This is tons of fun. Gallagher redeems his strike exchange with some nasty European upper cuts. Haskins drops Gallagher on his head and applies the Stretch Muffler for the tap. A real fun match . 3 1/4* Rampage Brown vs Big Daddy Walter I'm not a Walter fan, but he's over. We're looking at a hoss battle. Yep 2 bad apples going at it. Both guys just beating on one another. Massive boot by Walter. Big time chop exchange. This is a total hoss battle. I enjoyed this for what it was. They played to their strengths and didn't try to reinvent the wheel. 2 1/2* Tommy End vs Roderick Strong I like both of these guys. Strong is my most outstanding wrestler this year at the halfway mark. Strong playing old school NWA champ to get heat. End lighting up Strong with kicks. Knee strike by Strong to take advantage. Roddy has a mean streak. A kick by End turns the tide. He works over Strong with kicks. Strong does his backbreaker on the apron. Strong is going after the back. He's really developed into a ring general. Strong really working over End's core. End with some nasty elbows underneath. Ugly looking Superplex. Roddy with the boots to End. Another End kick switches momentum. Nasty flying double foot stomp to Roddy's face. A nasty spin kick by End. You can tell these guys have been in a war. The finishing run is a little over kill. A good match though. 3 1/4* I'll finish this later.
