ROH has 4 really great looking shows this week. I hope the VOD is done pretty quick. At least we have a IPPV on Friday that looks pretty great. To kick off the killer week we got the final week of ROH TV from San Antonio Will and I attended. Kyle o'Reilly vs Chris Sabin Live we thought Sabin didn't do enough of working over O'Reilly's cut. On the tv the way it was edited he seemed much more focused on the cut. He worked on top and gave O'Reilly some nice hope segments with getting Sabin's arm. Sabin needs some new gear. The story of O'Reilly fighting through his injury was well done. 2 3/4* Alberto El Patron/ACH/Matt Sydal vs Briscoes/Strong This was a great match. We get a Lucha pairing off where all of them were well done. Patron's and Jay's pairing seemed off a bit. We get some great exchanges with everyone hitting their moves. Strong and Mark were tremendous in carrying their side. We get an awesome sequence that sees Patron nail a tope' . ACH goes for a dive, but Mark cuts him off and ACH is awesome as a FIP. The Briscoe team goes after his back. Strong in particular used some real cool variations of back breakers on ACH. It built and built and then we get the hot tag. Patron in and gets the crowd completely behind him. He gets cut off and plays a little FIP. Hot tag and everyone in. Great run that sets up a killer finish. Man what a great match. this was a ton of fun. Patron and Jay looked a little clunky working with each other. The dynamic wouldn't be the same, but Patron should have paired up with Strong more since they had a real good match a few months prior. 4 1/4*

It was DJ Mike Nice I think.

Those are good thoughts that make you ponder. I was thinking the same thing.

I just watched the Revolution Pro High Stakes show from 2/15/15. This is from my bud Parv's neck of the woods and he's only gone to one show that had Ted Dibiase as a guest. Most of these guys will be my 1st time seeing them. The opens up with a Colt Cabana interview and angle this was well done, and pretty funny if you're a wrestling fan. Rocky Romero vs Bodom Romero does a good job here carrying this. Bodom seems pretty green. Romero opens with a cross arm breaker. He does a good job controlling the arm. He mixes that up with some nice looking strikes and dives. Romero's charisma also helps in carrying the match. Romero is also good at setting up Bodom for some stooge spots. I usually see Romero working with high quality workers so it was nice to see him work a guy with a solid potential . 2 3/4* Samuels vs McCluskey Samuels has a unique look. McCluskey is a good looking chap with some high spots. They work a solid match with Samuels controlling the match. He sets up McCluskey well to shine. McCluskey seems like a guy who'd do better in a tag team setting. 2* Mat Classic vs Lord Grey This is played up for comedy. Plus it played off the interview from Cabana earlier. Really fun stuff and an asset to the show. Addiction vs 2 Unlimited Both teams are baby faces. So Addiction plays heel in the match. 2 Unlimited seems to have watched Rockers tapes because they do a lot of cool double team moves. Though they don't get what made the Rockers a great tag team, and that is selling. They lack making the crowd get behind them. I hope eventually they get this skill down because they have potential as a tag team. 2 /3/4* Redman/Haskins vs Hooligans Redman has a good look and they did a great job in protecting him. Haskins looked like a really good worker. I really need to see more of him to form a more informed opinion . The Hooligans are don't have a great look, but their look fits the gimmick. They are also pretty solid workers. We start out with a wild brawl on the outside. It settles down and we get a normal tag. We see the momentum shift back and forth. The crowd thought the match was awesome and gave both teams a standing ovation. 2 1/2* Scrull vs Ricochet This was a good match that would have been helped by cutting 5 minutes or so. I liked the Ricochet shine early on. He busts out some killer dives and showcases his athleticism. I liked Scrull's manipulating Ricochet's digits. I dug Ricochet's counter into a payback spot by stomping Scrull's hand. Scrull was good at working on top and getting heat. The finish was pretty nasty. 3 1/4* Styles vs Ospreay I've talked about this match elsewhere and it's still awesome and a MOTYC. I have it 4 3/4* Overall a real fun show. I 'm going to give this promotion more of a watch. They seem to bring in a lot of outside talent to mesh with the local talent that's really solid with a big upside.

You guys have a link.

He's a fun wrestler. He works some fun comedy spots. When he has worked more serious he's been good in that. I've only seen him a few times, and it has been live so that helps.
-
I felt Styles did a great job in controlling the match, and made Ospreay's stuff matter.
-
I'm really hoping we get Kushida and O'Reilly winning their brackets. I think they could have a killer match. Whoever wins this I so want to beat Omega.

AJ Styles vs Will Osprey 2/15/15 The match I watched earlier was the handheld version. The commercial video was even better and this match is now my favorite of the year so far. The Commercial version has a lot of things going for it. First off the crowd is jacked for this. Second the announcers do a great job in getting the story of Osprey's wrestling Idol was Styles and this adds a lot to the match. Finally we get a better view of the match. I'm not going to discuss it again but I'm going to hit on some stuff. One cool spot was Styles takes an Irish Whip and slides under the guardrail. That was cool. Styles does a really great job destroying Osprey's back. They do a great job sprinkling Osprey's comebacks, and hope spots in. Styles throws one of the best punches in his life. In the handheld version I gave Osprey shit for shit canning the back work. In reality it wasn't bad, but he could have sold the back better down the stretch. The drama of Osprey in the Calf Slicer was so great. The finishing run was amazing capped off by a 2nd rope inverted Styles Clash. 4 3/4*

I liked the conversation feel to the show. It really brought up long ago memories. I got on line in 95 when in college. So a lot of this stuff was stuff I haven't thought about in years. Scoops, MiCasa. Dave's wrestling emporium. I saw RF advertising Sabu comps in old PWI and started there. Then got a Ric Flair title changes comp when it was at 8. -
Their are so many fun matchups for Kushida in this.

I think it's cool to have Finaly's kid in the tourney since the tourney in the 90's was the 1st time I saw his Dad wrestle.

I use the term stooging to signify comedy spots.
-
His 1st 2 guests are Angle and then Meltzer.
-
I'm pretty stoked they're having a 2 day show in San Antonio in September for All Star Extravaganza .
-
I'm really enjoy reading your takes on the matches your watching.

That's cool. I enjoyed the limb work done on Kazarian a lot, along with the work done on Fish's neck as a base for the match. So I thought the build was good to the hot run and the KRD payoff.

The tv this week was a 2 match show. KES vs War Machine Live I thought the brawling felt more chaotic than what appeared on tv. Still we got a good match here. The finish came off even worse on tv. We get some brawling to start. This was fun and goes on for a few minutes. We go to a traditional tag structure that sees Hanson as the FIP. He does a great job here. Hot tag and Rowe has some nice offense to hang his hat on. We get more brawling. Hanson with a dive. More fighting and the ref calls for the bell. Lethal vs Ciampa Live I was luke warm to the match. On TV I liked it much better. It helped that Lethal's work on top which was trepid live was interrupted with 2 commercial breaks. This helped a ton. Lethal's offense on the neck looked more focused. So the match benefited from a storyline perspective. Live it came across as a maybe 2* match. On tape it felt like a 2 3/4* match.
-
I think that's a fair statement.

I got tickets to this since I live in Austin. This looks like a great card. Ricochet is on it. It makes you wonder if him and ROH have something going on since ROH is running Armarillo and Oklahoma City the 2 days prior. This is all speculation on my part.
