The date is wrong on the JYD/Reed match. I have a program that lists 11/4/83.

Thanks for the compliment Mick. Talking the shows with Timothy has been a blast. He makes it a lot easier as a host.

Though in 1982 things were changing. Dick Murdoch had the Brainbuster, The Von Erich's had the claw, Steamboat had the flying body press, Jack Brisco had the Figure 4, and by 1983 Gordy was using the Gonzo bomb. If you bought the finish cool. I would have bought a small package or some other flash pin. These guys are throwing big bombs at one another . So I couldn't buy the finish. A back drop was a finish in the 60's and 70's. By 1982 between 2 tough guys I didn't buy it. I grew up watching St. Louis , WCCW , and Houston wrestling from 78-87. I can easily put myself in the moment.

This is such a legendary feud. I can't wait till u stumble across the loser gets painted yellow .

Hell yeah!!!

I actually liked that fact. One of the things i hate about wrestling is how spike DDT can be kicked out of but being slammed off a guys shoulders leads to a pin. I agree with that. I just thought a back drop wasn't a finish that would put Gordy out for a 3 count.

I'll grant you Devitt. With Yano his goal was to work an easy match on his back.

Fray I popped at your Izzy vote. I think Johnny Sorrow will love that you refer to it as WWENXT.

The bad comedy has hurt his matches in NJPW for me. His use of weapons like the garbage can and the medical spray take me out of his matches. Something Savage the term falling back into a lot of his bad habits is a great term. I feel working on top with other top guys will help him. I guarantee Tanahashi or Goto will have no problem telling him we're not going to be doing that goofy fucking spot .

With Omega I think he can't overcome his bad instincts. I think he has the tools. He has shown that he can work body parts, is good at selling, has a good move set. It's his instincts where he shoots himself in the foot. I'm hoping he puts it together like Roddy Strong finally put it together. With them vacating the IC title I'd retire the belt and make the Never title the #2.

Nakamura vs Styles I thought this was really well worked. I liked the early pacing. AJ playing opossum with the back was gold. AJ working the leg has tons of drama. The spot where AJ was caught in a triangle and delivered a 1 arm Styles Clash was epic. I loved all of Nak's back work . Wish he would have made it more of a priority down the stretch. With that said I got really caught up in the excitement of the finishing run. 4 1/2*

I think the company really did a good with the 1st 2 shows. I think WK10 had a show with some great matches. New Year Dash had really good wrestling too, but had some killer angles to boot. So I can see people liking either show better. 2016 has a lot of change going on. One thing for sure is when Ibushi gets healthy he will have a feud with Omega. They planted that seed in 2015. I assume we'll see some different talent in the promotion. Maybe elevate the jr singles title. Blow up the jr tag belt. The jr teams are good enough to work the heavyweight belts. Bottom line I have to wait and see.

I consider it part of the match. It hurt the match for me, but wasn't a deal breaker.
-
No. I don't list him because it wasn't a 3 way.

I just watched this. Good match. This was a good. We had the girls handcuffed at ringside. Sunshine and Baby Doll were awesome here working a hate filled fight. I loved the Buddy Roberts and Chavo exchanges. We get a nice Face shine to start. Roberts takes a bump onto the girls. This is where the girls really get the brawl going. Officials have to come out and un handcuff them. We're back to action and Chavo does a roll up on Buddy Jack into the wrong corner. This results in the heels stomping a mud hole in him to set up the heat. Chavo's FIP work was really compelling helped by the viciousness by Hayes and Gordy. Eventually we get a hot tag to Teddy. By this point both rings are being used, and it's total chaos. Hayes hit Dibiase from behind off the top rope for the pin in the wrong ring. 3 1/4*

https://soundcloud.com/jerryvonkramer/this-week-in-wrestling-011016 Fall 1 Pete and Johnny look at the Bob Backlund match Parv doesn't watch you to see. It destroys his take on Bob. It's the 5/20/83 match. We also take a look at the Smokey Mountain tv and ROH's current show. Fall 2 Pete and Timothy look at Wrestle Kingdom and ramifications. Fall 3 Pete and Johnny finish up with Breaking Ground and look at WWE Raw.

That sounds like so much fun.

The Houston footage has really helped in my opinion. He had a great match with Ted that was in circulation. He has 2 really good matches with Ernie Ladd. An Excellent match with Mr. Wrestling 2. Had a really good match with Mr. Wrestling 3 who was Hercules under the hood. For the midget wrestling fans he had a good match with midgets. His feud with the MX was great. We have 3 of those matches from Houston. He might not have had a big move set. He had more important tangibles . He could sell, had charisma , make a fiery comeback, connected with the crowd, understood when to do things, and a great bleeder.

Angle though has history and a name.

Easier, but you could take a LOT of guys and make a match that adds as many buys and has as much volume in the stadium that night. You just need good booking. For the most part they don't have good booking. So your idea of Joe probably won't work in the current enviroment.

Jake vs Slater I'm a sucker for the manager in the shark cage above the ring. It never fails to dissapoint, and helps the box office. Jake/Slater might be my favorite Jake feud. We see Jake target the arm. I like how Jake gets the gimmick over and keeps Journey relevant in the match. We see Jake using the post to soften up the arm. I'm a mark for limb work so this is heaven for me. Loving how Jake keeps going back to the arm. Slater with an eye rake, and he returns the favor and works Jake's arm. Slater wearing out Jake's arm with a chair. Crowd is totally with Jake. Jake is incredible selling that arm. We see Jake's boot come into play. Journey tosses a chain to Slater, but Jake gets it. He goes to use it but Slater back drops him out of the ring. Slater wallops Jake for the win. Super fun match, with some real good arm work and selling. 3 3/4*
