1/21/16 aired NWA Smokey Mountain Toby Farley vs. Tristen Ramsey 4 1/4* This was a really exciting hard hitting match. Here they used the hard hitting and sick headbutts to build the drama and the escalation of hatred. When Ramsey went to the top rope it took me out of the brawl they were having.Where I thought Ishii and Shibata had flaws in the structure of the match. These guys didn't have that issue except for the one mistake of going to the top.

1/20/16 aired CWF Mid-Atlantic Cedric Alexander & Mason Maddox vs. Smith Garrett & Chet Sterling 4 1/4* This just a really good old school southern tag. Everything they did was spot on. This had the best psychology of everything I've seen. We start out with a really good babyface shine. The partner with the least experience is the one shining up the babyfaces. That makes perfect sense. On the outside Alexander delivers a nasty elbow. This sets up the heat. Alexander was great in the heat. Sterling as FIP was tremendous. Totally understood how to die and comeback. Cedric's crispness on offense made his selling mean so much more. A really high end Southern tag that will always resonate with me.

Jose Lothario vs Hector Guerrero This was just a hate filled brawl. Both guys bleeding. Lothario's punches were so on point. Hector bumping big for them. Hector's punches were pretty great too. We got nasty chair shots. The crowd was going crazy here. These guys were so awesome. The brawling was so intense. I totally bought into the finish. 4 1/4*

I liked the Lethal match, but it's not necessary to watch.

1/16/16 REV Pro Will Ospreay vs Marty Scurll 4 1/2* I liked this. I don't think from a psychology stand point this was as good as the main event. With that said this match was loaded with big time moves. The crowd was going nuts. I felt some of the kick outs were overkill. An example Scurll delivers a tope into a spinning DDT and plants Will on the floor. Brings him in and puts him in his finisher. He ends up escaping, to me that is over kill. They could have milked the drama on some of Scurll's submissions. They were too focused on getting to the next section. I liked the one upmanship early. I thought the counters were really good. Their personalities shined early on. I thought it was smart to keep the limb work to a minimum. This allowed Ospreay to get all his shit in without the consequences of blowing off selling. Scurll did work the arm for a bit, and it was well done. It just wasn't the narrative of the match. Then towards the last part of the match got nasty. with knees, digit manipulations, headbutts, and nasty elbow strikes. The finishing run was pretty damn good. I can see people just eating this match up live because of all of the excess that hurt the match some for me. This was a great highspot match with tons of drama.

1/16/16 REV Pro AJ Styles vs Zack Sabre Jr. 4 1/4* This is something of a dream match. Both guys had great 2015's. I loved the grappling on the mat early. Neither one of them being able to get the advantage. The counter wrestling was really well done in this. At one point AJ goes for a leap frog and Zach ankle picks him in mid air. Pretty much that was the feeling out process of the match and it was fun. Then though AJ gets a neat looking Calf Killer on. Sabre Jr escapes, but AJ stays on the leg for a bit. Till Sabre Jr. transitions to the arm. In a nice spot, Zach's leg crumbles when he stomps on AJ's arm. Zach goes for a double knee to the arm, but misses and dings his knees on the mat. This leads to the Calf Killer. Then we get this sick counter exchange between Calf Killer and Armbar 2 or 3 times. Sabre Jr. on the finishing run kind of shit cans the Calf Killer work done to him. Zach catches AJ in a Triangle that AJ counters into a 1 arm Styles Clash. Follows up with a Bloody Sunday and goes for the Styles Clash. One of the stories of the match has been counter wrestling. So Zach catches him in some form of Triangle into a double arm bar/leg lock contraption for the tap out. The finishing run was so exciting. 4 1/2*

I think so because it's where all the babyfaces lay out Cornette if my memory serves me correctly.

That's an interesting talking point. I feel the NWO though were the 1st ones in the boom period to get "water cooler talk" going. It also translated in box office. Though not as much as SCSA.

I thought this was a solid match. I really loved Buddy's robe. This was a short effective match . I thought Buddy was great with his mannerisms. They kept the match basic.

On a sidenote. At the finish of TA/Wrestling 2 their is a shot of 12 year old me at the apron with a coke in a white and red t-shirt booing the shit out of Wrestling 2. I was at a birthday party with 4 friends as part of some Paul Boesch Birthday package for my friend. This might have been my 1st wrestling card in Houston I attended.

Mr. Wrestling 2 vs Magnum TA This was a pretty interesting match. Houston really supports their babyfaces. Here even before the match starts TA is getting a huge Goldberg like chant. This starts slow but they made everything matter. TA tries to establish his strength and athleticism. Wrestling 2 sets out to take TA down and work the leg. I thought the leg work was really well done. I loved 2 teasing the Million Dollar Knee Lift, and TA showing how much he respects the move. Wrestling 2 playing a long con game in the match was awesome. 2 constantly selling a drubbing by TA throughout the bout. Finally though TA gets sucked in for the MDKL only to get his feet on the rope for 2.Another thing I loved from Wrestling 2 was the headlock and sucker punch. They came across real slimy. I thought TA showed great fire. I enjoyed him taking the match to 2. The finish was weird because Wrestling 2 took a weird bump before the Belly to Belly. Still this was a blast. Post match promos to boot. 3 1/2*

This was a good solid match. Their was a nice shine that saw the faces do some fun arm work. I loved Parson's headbutt to the arm. Irwin scoops up and slams Parsons. I've always liked the Iceman. Irwin tags in Eli quickly, but Parsons cuts him off. Eli though overwhelms him. Eli starts to get heat. He takes Parsons outside, and in the big spot of the match they post him and bust him open. Parsons is bleeding, and the crowd finally get behind him. Finally he gets the hot tag to Young. Young comes in hot. While this is going on Parsons heads to the back. Eventually the heels overwhelm Young and put a beatdown on him. He tries to tag out a couple times. No Parsons though. Finally Chavo comes out and replaces Parsons. He gets the tag, the crowd erupts and the heels bail. 2 1/2*

JYD vs Butch Reed This a dog collar match. I love this feud. I really enjoyed Reed's stalling early. When JYD wrapped his fist with the chain and nailed Reed right in the rib cage. That looked pretty hurty. JYD transitions into choking Reed. I'm loving how personal this fight feels. In a great spot JYD goes for the headbutt, but Reed blocks it with the chain. This sets up the heat. Reed starts whipping JYD. They've paced the match in such a way that everything got over and meant something. We get more of that. JYD on his comeback is using big chain assisted soup bones. The tide is turning so the Anvil tries to help him out. Duggan comes out to stop him. Reed misses his top rope shoulder block. JYD scoops him up for the power slam. 3 1/2*
