  1. Older programming is pretty much just going to be edited for music rights. Nothing for content, whether it's blood, Benoit, Ventura, etc. What's the deal with stuff like Demolition or Big Boss Man's old music being edited? I thought they owned those songs. I used two examples that I think were edited but I could be wrong on them.
  2. Yeah, same as John, I thought they'd zone control by making you pay with a US credit card. But they will most likely do whatever MLB is doing until there are enough complaints.
  3. And then Jerome would chime in about SECAM. It was odd how back in the 90s I was able to trade tapes with Australians and Kiwis but not the French until PAL/SECAM VCR's were the norm. When I bought my first tapes in 1998 I already had an NTSC compatible VCR. But I can't seem to convert my tapes onto DVD though, which sucks, although it would take a ridiculous amount of time I wouldn't be ready to spent these days I believe. This has got nothing to do with the thread, but I was very lucky that as a teenager I was in a Barcelona tape trading circle. One of the members was an elderly man who befriended a guy in his mid 40s that was very well paid (he was the military police head security officer for the Mallorca airport) so he spent stupid amounts of money importing NTSC tapes and making free copies for us in Barcelona. This was in 1994 or 1995 when that equipment would cost something like 10.000 EUR in today's money adjusted for inflation. NTSC compatible VCR's back then were something like 2.000 EUR which we could have afforded but there was no way they were going to buy that so I could watch more wrestling. My first NTSC compatible VCR was bought in either 1997 or 1998 when I had enough money from my part time job, I paid around 480 euro as it wasn't yet obsolete technology. And even so, I could watch NTSC videos, but I could not duplicate them so I could not trade them. I can convert my tapes but it's a pain in the ass to do it. Eventually I found that it was easier and cheaper to buy DVD's off some people and in many cases those guys had better video quality than my 3rd or 4th gen copies. I only converted those things that I had that were unique and threw away maybe 95% of my collection (mostly bootlegs) sometime in the mid 00's as there was no market in Spain for anybody to buy them.

I think the guy is doing what he can but they are giving him terrible scripts.
  5. I'd go Satanico > Morgan > MS-1 but it depends on the match. For the Cadets, I think we only have the one match of theirs from the 80s, but Super Astro personified the gimmick and had the most memorable high spots so that's a good choice. How about, Cien Caras, Mascara 2000 and Universo 2000? Talisman, Fuerza Guerrera and El Dandy? Sangre Chicana, Mocho Cota and La Fiera? Trios Fantasia? Mascara 2000 > Cien Caras > Universo 2000 in AAA Universo 2000 > Mascara 2000 > Cien Caras in CMLL Dandy > Talisman > Fuerza Guerrera I need to rewatch a lot of their stuff but Chicana > Fiera > Cota Trio Fantasia is easy. Super Raton >>>>>>>>>> Super Muneco >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Super Pinocho. I am probably the world's biggest Super Raton fan though.

  7. I agree with that one actually.
  8. What do you mean by "fairly high level"? He's on the WON HOF you know? :) :) Jokes aside, yes, I listened to that one. It's the only Talk is Jericho episode I have listened to. It was a good episode but, as you say, it was all about Austin. When you hear him talking about his career and how the advice he used to receive when he was starting out used to make him think about what he was doing, you can see how his success was not a "right guy at the right time" stroke of luck. Jericho is one of those guys that it's puzzling to me that he's considered a wrestling master psychologist. Nowadays he doesn't wrestle all that differently than he did almost twenty years ago as a WAR midcard junior heavyweight.
  9. How about some Lucha trios: Pirata Morgan > MS-1 > Satanico (no, OJ, I do not hate Satanico) El Signo > El Texano > Negro Navarro (strictly talking about their trios stuff) Super Astro > Solar > Ultraman Blackman >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kato Kung Lee >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kung Fu Brazo de Oro > Brazo de Plata > El Brazo Pirata Morgan > Hombre Bala > El Verdugo Villano III > Villano IV > Villano V (> Villano II) Dr. Wagner Jr. > Black Warrior > Blue Panther (again strictly talking about their stuff together) Ultimo Guerrero > Rey Bucanero > Atlantis
  10. In the last few years I have changed my opinion and now I think that Undertaker should never ever lose the streak but if there's a guy that he could lose to with zero backlash that would be Bryan. If he can hold up for three years (and that is a very big if) Lesnar, Cena and Bryan should be his three opponents.
  11. I know it's a joke post but if the Network is a success, TV ratings fees double or triple and in her new role she can somehow clean up the reputation that wrestling has got with major corporate sponsors, she could be credited as having reinvented the business and making it much larger than anyone else could ever do.
  12. I wonder if the house shows thing is an experiment to get people talking.
  13. Completely agree. Austin & especially Konnan are always a breeze to listen to, but unless he's on topic and not concerned with cracking himself up, Cornette can get pretty grating. Austin is an anomaly, though. I can listen to him all day talking about riding his RV and farting for hours after eating his wife's homemade burritos. He's got incredible comedic timing. I have only listened to Jericho's first two episodes so I wonder how he's going to hold up after a few episodes.
  14. I am pretty close to most of his views on politics and religion so that's not my problem. After you have heard the rant twice my brain just turns itself off while he's ranting and I'm listening to the podcast but not really paying attention.
  15. Cornette to me is a lot like Jim Ross. I love listening to their interviews once or twice a year, maybe three times, but that is about it. Also, while I can listen to Steve Austin or Konnan talking about pretty much anything, I don't really want to hear Cornette talking about anything else other than wrestling. He doesn't seem to be that interesting of a person once you take wrestling out of the equation.
  16. Yes. That's weird as fuck. Not "Pat Hoed was Fantasma from Brujeria" weird but still pretty weird. ...And Out Come The Wolves as one of my favourite albums back in 1996. I can't imagine the dude with the forehead tattoos and bleached spikey blond hair ranking wrestling's best fat guys. I must listen to this podcast.
  17. It should be fairly big. I think that he will draw very well, too. AAA is already doing well in the big arenas but Mistico will be a huge boost for the smaller weekday shows. His name being reported is a non issue. Message board smart fans in Mexico are a very small group with no power or business influence whatsoever.
  18. Is that the Lars Frederiksen I am thinking about????
  19. Plus Pepe Casas and Felino's sons, and some cousin called Danny Casas, and on the not so great side, Negro is married to Dalis la Caribena, and her brother is Veneno. That's a pretty awesome trio but the existence of Sicodelico disqualifies them from any kind of contention. The Wagner's are not too bad either: Dr Wagner, Dr Wagner Jr, Silver King. I believe that Texano is a cousin... but I can't remember if he's a real cousin or not. If so, you can link them to Texano Jr. and Dandy (Texano's cousin). Wagner Jr. used to be married to Rossy Moreno, and King was married to Xochitl Hamada, so you can link them to those two other families. All in all that would be quite an impressive family tree.
  20. PWO favourite El Dandy is training for a comeback to wrestle in a "Despedida al Dandy" card (which isn't always necessarily a retirement match but in this case it may be). The main event will be him in a mano a mano against his most memorable career rival, El Satanico. Match will be in February next year.
  21. One semi-useless fact that I want to add about Mocho Cota is that people would often cry "fraud" about his hair vs hair matches because a week after losing he'd have a head full of hair. But he just seems to have unreal hair growth. A week after getting his head shaved bald he'd look like I do two weeks after getting my hair cut to 1cm length using an electric shaver. And, yeah, whenever Fiera, Jerry Estrada or Mocho Cota disappeared from the scene for months and you wonder why then jail seems to be the safe bet. I know that Sangre Chicana had one or two long retirements so I always wondered if they are the same time of hiatuses too.
  22. Yeah, that's Dave. Sometimes they are interviewing somebody and it seems that Bryan has got a good follow-up question but Dave's mind is somewhere else and he jumps over with his question and the subject gets changed completely. I honestly don't think he's trying to shut Bryan down to get his own stuff in. I believe that he doesn't even realise it. Funny enough I have never found him to do that in person, though I haven't spoken to him nearly as many times as others in here. Considering all the hours per week of radio that they do I really don't know why Dave has never been properly coached on how to conduct a radio show or a professional level interview. It's pretty clear that Bryan has done plenty of work on the subject though.
  23. I'm not overly impressed with the 80s Anibal I have seen, either. But it's not a lot of footage. On Fishman, yeah, I think he always had an undeserved bad rep because most people have only seen the alcoholic broken down version in AAA. But he was pretty decent back in the day. Wish we had footage of his tag team run with Solitario where they were the punk masked rudos who would face anyone: rudos, tecnicos, foreigners, whomever, which was the blueprint for the latter Aguayo and Fishman tag team that tore the house down for years at El Toreo in main events.
  24. Solar: Buffalo Allen (Bad News Brown), Andre the Giant, Eddie Guerrero, Dory Dixon, Coloso Colosetti Navarro: Pegasus Kid, Eddie Guerrero, Dory Dixon, Kato Kung Lee, Angelico (old Spanish wrestler) And the Japanese Solar: Tiger Mask, Gran Hamada, Tatsumi Fujinami, Hatsu Masataka (Kosuke Hashimoto), Masanobu Kurisu Navarro: Tiger Mask, Gran Hamada, Ultimo Dragon, Kuniaki Kobayashi, Katsuhisa Shibata
  25. Some thoughts: I think it's a pretty good list. Lucha did better than I imagined. I didn't vote for Gorgeous George or Antonino Rocca and that was an oversight. I tried to go through other people's lists to make sure I didn't leave out anybody but I guess I missed some. I voted for Londos, Lewis and Gotch but no other early era guys because I don't know much about them. I have read about them but I can't rate them historically. I didn't feel like giving a random number to Stecher or whomever just for the sake of it. I tried to be fair but ranking 100 people from different eras and styles is hard. I put some thought on the list and went back and forth for a few days on some names. To be honest there's very few people I'd have done this type of list for. Whoever didn't vote for Hogan should have his vote eliminated from the final count. I mean, come on. OJ: I didn't vote for Chicana because he is a great worker and I enjoyed watching him but there are a lot of lucha names I'd consider over him in a list of stars. I'd vote for him in a list of 100 workers or favourite wrestlers.
