First show came out today. Jim's verbatim response to something he felt Dave Meltzer reported erroneously: "no that did not happen". Great episode. He goes deep on what happened in the transition he took from leaving WCW and going to the WWF. It gets surprisingly personal, and he provides an amazing perspective on all that was happening around him.

The Jim Cornette Experience
flyonthewall2983 replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I don't think Eric and Jim had too much love for each other anyway apart from agreeing on Vince Russo. Jim just owning Bischoff on Twitter was hilarious. On the other hand I get the impression that Jim and Bruce were pretty good friends and saw eye to eye on a lot of stuff perhaps until whatever happened recently. -
Inaccuracies aside this was a strong episode for Kevin alone. On top of feeling sorry for him having to dredge this stuff up again on camera, he seemed to be more raw about it then I'd ever seen him in interviews. The mental image of both Kevin and his mother running for the woods after finding out about David is pretty strong. Her story in all of this has sadly fallen through the cracks, for whatever reason.

If they launch a live feed of just nothing but old stuff I would pay for it.

Hates fat people. It's something passed down from his brother and father.

Shoots Review and Preview thread
flyonthewall2983 replied to BruiserBrody's topic in Megathread archive
I know almost nothing about his work or career apart from seeing him in a tag team match with Barry Windham against Bruiser Brody and Stan Hansen, but I have to say I was utterly interested and charmed by this interview. -
Your comment suggests WCW was ran logically. What I'm suggesting is is that the subject could have been brought up by any of the Turner bosses who only had the simplest ideas about wrestling, and not on the inside about things like their personal lives.

I'm sure from the moment Randy was in consideration for WCW, the talk of her bringing in probably started immediately whether or not he was involved. I don't know all the details but it seems Meltzer is being a little bitchy about this show, especially with the Montreal episode coming up.

Some of the re-enactments on the Savage episode are hilarious, like Hulk and Randy at a barbecue and the guy squatting over a briefcase.
-
The very end of the episode with his music playing and everyone talking about their legacy ended the episode on a better note than I expected.

What I'm interested in is that this time around Conrad won't just have the sheets to depend on, but also the testimonies of Prichard, Bischoff, and Schiovane on all of those shows now. At least concerning his time he was also in the same employ as those guys anyway. I don't listen to Jim's show now very much but I did listen to the latest episode to hear his thoughts on WM weekend, and get a better sense of what the chemistry is going to be like between him and Conrad. I don't see it getting as morning shock-jock crazy as it gets with Bruce and the other guys sometimes. It's not to say he doesn't have a sense of humor, but I don't think it'll be as played to the hilt because like Conrad said nobody has traveled the road Ross has, and hopefully there won't be too many detours. I'm looking forward to this show very much.

I like the re-enactment stuff oddly enough. The Twitter account responded to someone saying it's Unsolved Mysteries mixed with pro wrestling by saying "This is EXACTLY what we wanted it to be." I think as long as they remain just visual gags and we don't hear them trying to imitate whoever, is fine with me. I also like the hazy aesthetic they use in presenting the older clips. I didn't think much of it with the Brody episode since a lot of the PR footage probably looks like crap anyway, but the WWE/WCW footage from the Savage episode had the same old VHS sheen to it and it felt like an artistic choice.

There was a brief clip from this on a commercial for the Network during the WM pre-show. I guess it's either being shared or traded from HBO.

Wrestlemania 35: The KawadaSmile tribute thread
flyonthewall2983 replied to Ricky Jackson's topic in WWE
I think there's a way to keep everyone happy RE: length, if they start the show earlier in the day. Start it anywhere between 12-2 ET and while it'll still be a long haul, it means everyone (stateside at least) can finish the show in real time. Or bump it up to Saturday. -

I watched most of it this afternoon. Bret had a great speech despite the obvious setback, maybe the best one of the night. DX wasn't awful but not anything memorable for me. It was at a much better pace than previous shows, so it's clear they learned some lessons but not enough. They need to close it off and just hype it as a Network special, maybe not even do it WM weekend anymore.

Please do not twist what I said into approval of their "humor", either.

...like the kind of humor of going into jive when praising Harlem Heat?

I literally told my brother earlier today that this started going downhill the minute they let any mark with enough cash come in and watch.
