  1. Does TNT air NBA games on Wednesday?
  2. The Dusty episode was really good. It doesn't take much to see the similarities between Jim Ross and Virgil Runnels as men, generationally and geographically speaking but with regards to the business as well. There's a big revelation about Dusty's own Bell's Palsy that never connected with me until I heard Jim talk about it. Hearing Jim speak about the WWF run was interesting in it's own way, in terms of how "degraded" Dusty was in terms of how he was used. I didn't realize that Vince fired him too, I just figured he was offered a position in WCW and came back more on his own terms.
  3. Hearing Harry Shearer talk to Marc Maron about his time on SNL with Lorne reminded me a lot of the CM Punk shoot on Cabana's show in certain respects
  4. Lots of questions in my mind, despite keeping a distance from every bit of news about the company. Will they be live or taped? Where will they shoot? How long?
  5. Tomorrow's show is about King Of The Ring '98. Conrad said it's three hours and one of his favorite shows he's ever done.
  6. That would be awesome, because it's my birthday
  7. I heard that Meltzer just said more than 10 WWE employees now want to leave, including some names that would shock everyone. I have to think that for their debut on TNT, they will bring out someone that makes the Moxley debut look like a drop in the bucket.
  8. I've been watching a shoot with Brad Armstrong from about 15 years ago. He was damn funny. If I were to ever make an exhaustive list of favorite wrestlers he might be higher on that list than most. I was very sad learning of his death.
  9. Weren't the Rockers heels in Alabama or somewhere in the South for allegedly not wanting to be idols of their less-than-attractive female fanbase? Their words (allegedly), not mine.
  10. Jon Moxley is on today's episode and is not holding back.
  11. So they have no ownership over the footage then?
  12. Next episode is on Capitol Combat '90 AKA RoboCop in WCW. I get the need to wipe the slate clean a little after such a heavy topic, but I'm predicting this might be an early mis-step, where he might go overboard on the bitching and complaining about the creative to the point of boredom.
  13. Kudos to Westwood One and/or either Conrad and JR themselves in deciding not to hawk anything and present this commercial-free.
  14. Did New Japan do any sort of tribute?
  15. Don't know where else to ask this, but do the Turner networks still have rights to the WCW footage? I seem to remember during the Benoit stuff that CNN and Headline News would go to WCW footage of him occasionally and then hearing something about how they still had some rights because it aired on their networks. Same with ESPN and AWA stuff that aired on one of their offshoot channels. I have no idea if that footage will be beneficial at all to AEW but I imagine this question is pertinent to what's going on now that TNT has wrestling again.
  16. I didn't watch the show, and heard about it on the radio the following morning. It was the top story of the national news, which in itself was a shock because even during this time of heightened popularity a wrestler's death barely registered on such a level. I didn't watch a lot of the WWF's programming at the time, but I knew enough to think when I heard the particulars that it was meant as a stupid comedy stunt related to them reviving the Blue Blazer gimmick. This is a tough listen, I'm about an hour left on the episode and will pick it up later but you can tell this is hard for Jim to process in terms of being reflective on his process that night. At one point he deflects any pity towards his direction, but you have to feel bad for the guy who had to tell the world this awful news only 10 seconds after being told himself.
  17. Was Andre set to be in the Road Warriors match?
  18. This week's upload is a 2-hour GCW show from the Omni
  19. Conrad stopping JR during the middle of his Ahmad Rashad tangent was funny. I really really want to like that show, but how the hosts are marks for themselves (and have cultivated their own marks) is a little unbearable. I really got the impression they had a lot of sour grapes over the Von Erich episode of Dark Side Of The Ring because they basically did a day's worth of podcasts covering it all, like somehow two guys with a lot of basically second-hand knowledge (because they weren't of age during that time) and bad jokes somehow trumps a major television production with many of the actual people involved. I never saw a thread for their show here, and didn't go looking out for one so I don't know the room temperature on those guys here. Anyway... This week's show will be interesting for a number of obvious reasons, but I will be most interested in how Jim participates in a deep dive in perhaps the hardest moment of his professional life, and likely one of the top ones for him personally too. I don't think he'll walk on eggshells, but I think he'll employ some diplomacy with his words and be careful with what he'll try to say. He talked about it in this interview with Sam Roberts, and the way he describes being told that Owen was dead is obviously heartbreaking and it must have been extremely awkward given the circumstances he was in at the moment.
  20. Is there much footage of Studd and Flair as a tag team?
  21. Well this should at least be good fodder for his roast
