  1. What I'm interested in is that this time around Conrad won't just have the sheets to depend on, but also the testimonies of Prichard, Bischoff, and Schiovane on all of those shows now. At least concerning his time he was also in the same employ as those guys anyway. I don't listen to Jim's show now very much but I did listen to the latest episode to hear his thoughts on WM weekend, and get a better sense of what the chemistry is going to be like between him and Conrad. I don't see it getting as morning shock-jock crazy as it gets with Bruce and the other guys sometimes. It's not to say he doesn't have a sense of humor, but I don't think it'll be as played to the hilt because like Conrad said nobody has traveled the road Ross has, and hopefully there won't be too many detours. I'm looking forward to this show very much.
  2. I like the re-enactment stuff oddly enough. The Twitter account responded to someone saying it's Unsolved Mysteries mixed with pro wrestling by saying "This is EXACTLY what we wanted it to be." I think as long as they remain just visual gags and we don't hear them trying to imitate whoever, is fine with me. I also like the hazy aesthetic they use in presenting the older clips. I didn't think much of it with the Brody episode since a lot of the PR footage probably looks like crap anyway, but the WWE/WCW footage from the Savage episode had the same old VHS sheen to it and it felt like an artistic choice.
  3. There was a brief clip from this on a commercial for the Network during the WM pre-show. I guess it's either being shared or traded from HBO.
  4. I think there's a way to keep everyone happy RE: length, if they start the show earlier in the day. Start it anywhere between 12-2 ET and while it'll still be a long haul, it means everyone (stateside at least) can finish the show in real time. Or bump it up to Saturday.

  6. I watched most of it this afternoon. Bret had a great speech despite the obvious setback, maybe the best one of the night. DX wasn't awful but not anything memorable for me. It was at a much better pace than previous shows, so it's clear they learned some lessons but not enough. They need to close it off and just hype it as a Network special, maybe not even do it WM weekend anymore.
  7. Please do not twist what I said into approval of their "humor", either.
  8. ...like the kind of humor of going into jive when praising Harlem Heat?
  9. I literally told my brother earlier today that this started going downhill the minute they let any mark with enough cash come in and watch.
  10. I find this very interesting only in that I remember the time A&E did episodes of Biography on WWE talent, until the network obtained the rights to Wrestling With Shadows and that was finished.
  11. Vader for Legacy Wing 2020, you heard it here first folks.
  12. Just learned they shot four more episodes, including episodes on Benoit and Dino Bravo. They'll air depending on how well this does in the ratings. This is a perfect network for this kind of show so I doubt it'll be an issue.
  13. Nobody in the celebrity wing then?
  14. I surely hope not, but some people on Twitter/reddit really have a weed up their ass about it. Jim Cornette just said it's "the most absolute truthful outside media piece I've seen on wrestling in 40 years". It's really nothing nobody here already doesn't know, but the interesting thing is that it's finally shouted from a fairly high position. More because this is on YouTube than even HBO. Realistically I don't think anything will come from it, but I can appreciate the attempt nonetheless. It's an amazing bit of reporting, and hilarious as well.
  15. Looks interesting. I'm surprised Montreal is a topic being covered, since it's been done to death online and the Wrestling With Shadows doc stands as kind of the ultimate statement of everything that happened.
  16. Even still I think it was more of a common thing for WCW guys to be backstage at WWF shows and vice versa than we think, just that it was kept as hush-hush as possible so nobody got in trouble. Stevie Ray had a nice story about meeting Owen Hart about a year or so before he died, and I can think of a few others too. Bret Hart talked about meeting Flair in 1989, as a guest of Bobby Heenan's.
  17. I think he said as much in shoot interviews, that family issues precluded him from working at the time.
  18. Rotunda was there too, though in what turned out to be a non-working capacity as well. It's a shame the 10-man tag didn't happen, I can think of 2-3 matches that could have been shelved in favor of it. I don't find it hard to believe either, he left suddenly in 89 but I wouldn't think it was on bad terms with the company. The Little Richard story was fascinating. I heard Jennie Garth was a chore to deal with generally so not surprised about that either.
  19. With the crowd booing it the whole way it's also tempered with some levity, and the impetus of the whole USA/Canada divide that would play out on TV for the rest of the year. Looking back I wasn't really ever excited by the fact that the company would involve Bret's family in nearly every angle he was in, but this paid it all off brilliantly and it is an emotional moment. I doubt Bret gives this much thought, but I'm glad that the last image we had of him and Owen together were as brothers not opponents.
  20. In retrospect I like this promo video a lot. Maybe one of the very few times they ever built a match on athletics alone as there was no major angle leading up to it (though this was going to be the start of one, thus Bret storming out of the ring at the end of the match). This one speaks for itself. It encapsulates everything the Attitude Era was about, at what was undoubtedly it's very peak before veering off into a new direction post-WCW. The role Jim Ross plays in both of these is not to be understated either, it is major proof why he was the voice of the company during this time.
  21. Not a singles match but he was on Warrior's team without Bret at the '89 Survivor Series, and that went last.
  22. Bret is quoted as being very insecure with doing heel promos during the initial run, so it made Neidhart by default the main guy. In the ring at least, I don't think either guy could have topped Jimmy Hart as far as promos. Pushing Bret as a singles while still having Jim around, working in the same gear didn't make much sense. They did it a little bit with Shawn later on too. I think the first inkling of a serious singles push came at the end of that Survivor Series 90 match where Bret and Ted Dibiase have a good little match of their own. Reading about it in Bret's book in the context of his brother Dean's death was very moving. He might have had a few shining moments on television and in house shows, but to me that's really Bret's coming out, before the push really began. Funny that you say you never saw him as world champ. By the time I started watching he was already IC champ, lost and got it back again but I felt the same way. It was a shock to see him on All American Wrestling with the belt, and I mean that in a good way. Looking back it kind of sucks that Flair never had the belt for very long during that time, as an extended reign could have had major benefits for the WWF. But it was nonetheless exciting there was a new guy to lead the company forward and again looking back I can't think of someone better on that roster to have been the guy than Bret. Athletic, good-looking and was a bonafide veteran of the industry by this time, and above all was already familiar with the WWF audience due to the 8 years he'd been with them.
  23. They weren't inducted as such but weren't Peter Maivia and Rocky Johnson a team at one point? Inducted the same year as the Briscos.
