Ed Leslie post having his face caved in
flyonthewall2983 replied to Judy Bagwell's topic in The Microscope
I was neither here nor there on him at the time but looking back I can see how his presence got annoying. When he turned on Hulk after the cage match with Flair a few years earlier from this point, I remember being kind of hooked by it. I read his dislike of "The Barber" character more as knowing his limits as a performer, and feeling more comfortable surrounded by people like Valentine and Valiant. -
I remember for a brief time they were building an Undertaker feud, sometime after WM VIII. The stand-out image was his sword planted in the middle of the ring aimed at Taker before he moved. That was pretty heavy to watch at the time.

Best thing that ever happened to him was the beatdown the Horsemen gave him in August of '96 in a lead-up to a Hogan/Flair match. -
He probably could have used another one. By this point he'd only started using it when he became a singles guy. What was his finisher before he worked for Vince?

Greatest Match in Wrestlemania History?

They had a much better match 3 years later in WCW at the Great American Bash. Savage in '92 was not at his best. -
Greatest Match in Wrestlemania History?

With regard to some of the early WM's I thought some of the tag team matches were the best shows of the card. For example, I have a real fondness for the opening match of III, Martel/Zenk vs. Orton/Muraco. The tag team title match from the first one is great too. For all-time great though I'd have to go with Hart/Austin. That was the real passing of the torch to Austin, any lingering doubt there may have been that he could be the next guy must have gone away that night. -
So is this the full class now?

Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard

The WrestleMania 9 show was actually a little boring. Not that I blame either Conrad or Bruce for it, but the topic wasn't as juicy as I thought it would be. It got a little interesting towards the end regarding the decision to end it the way they did. Also that Vince and others knew Doink could be a babyface as early as that day. -

It's clear Bruce has no "love" for Meltzer, so I would take any response from Dave with as much salt too. -

I read something that Rachel Maddow talked about the McMahon connection on her show Friday night.

Why is it ridiculous? Hasn't it been proven that Hogan did sleep with the publicist? -
Rare but not surprising given how much JBL's style owes to those two. I'm a little sad they're letting that show go by the wayside.

My guess would be that he genuinely believes it. I would at the very least believe it wasn't as massive a loss for them because NBC was an equal partner. Add to the fact that WWE was doing good business at the time, whatever pains they felt weren't as long-lasting as the massive failure of the XFL would have you believe. It's funny to me that Bruce says there was this "us vs. them" attitude between his crew and the NBC people. Having to explain to someone not familiar with their programming that it's okay that a crowd full of people is calling the owner's daughter a slut (and likely worse) in front of a live national audience, probably made some of the people on Ebersol's side scratch their heads as to why they're doing business with them in the first place. -
Roberts still speaks well of Rude so I doubt it.

This XFL episode is hilarious if you saw the 30 For 30 -
I was under the impression that the LOD/Money, Inc. switch never happened because Hawk and Animal left.
