  1. PSH actually would have made a great Bobby Heenan, too.
  2. I wonder how much of that was WCW being a semi-regional promotion at the time. They visited St. Petersburg more often than Vince, which makes me think each city had a more localized vibe if that makes sense.
  3. Have to admit I don't like this cover. I understand the rainbow sherbet phase of his career was when he was the most popular, but I preferred the color schemes he had after beating Hogan.
  4. I'd imagine it's a mutual decision. It would be awkward to see him in character at an event like this, and it would kind of dilute the special nature of the event. I think if he'd stayed with the biker gimmick, then he probably would have attended and inducted by now.
  5. Just watched the "Outside the Ring" segment of Cena on ESPN. Is it fair to say that they've never had a better spokesman then him? I remember seeing him on Larry King after the Benoit thing and while I don't remember the finer points of what he said, his manner kind of blew me away after years of watching Vince more or less making an ass of himself on television.
  6. They should save something silly like that for the following Monday, since the (likely inebriated) crowd will eat it up and make for great television.
  7. I bet Shawn inducts Scott.
  8. I'm torn between hoping this is a work and that he makes a grand return in New Orleans, and hoping it isn't and that we'll get some damned good shoot interviews out of this.
  9. For sake of argument, if he's under the ring, how does he get there?
  10. They had the infamous Piper's Pit with Snuka on the other night. People remember it mostly for the coconut blast, but Roddy comes across as a real racist asshole in his verbiage and abuse. It never fails to amuse me when Jimmy takes the big fall and destroys the set.
  11. I asked because unlike Ross and Austin, Punk is still technically under contract with WWE, not to mention that anything Foley and Jericho (or others) have published are almost always WWE books.
  12. Is it possible he signed some kind of confidentiality agreement that lasts until his contract is up?
  13. Timeline: The History Of WWE - 1984: Roddy Piper
  14. Not just the time and the place, but the highly testosterone driven environments he's been part of for all of his adult life. His comments really are comparatively harmless to things people in similar positions have said.
  15. Watching him defend it as humor is making me agree with the title of this thread.
  16. I remember reading a letter to Parade Magazine from someone with the last name Slaughter who actually was a Sgt. bringing up Sgt. Slaughter as a sort of albatross on his back that people notice when he tells people his name.
  17. Maybe it's because of his long tenure with Turner before and after his WWF stint, but I think he was an odd fit for them. He had good chemistry with Ventura, but he's probably someone who would not have risen above his position of filling in for Vince and Gorilla had he stayed around.
  18. I read in another thread here that Tony left in 1990 basically because he couldn't afford to live in Connecticut and has regretted the decision ever since.
  19. I would watch the collector one.
  20. The Cena/Big Show match from 20 was on one day and it was refreshing to hear an entire crowd behind him once.
  21. Do we have spoiler text here?
  22. I gotta disagree on the battle royal. WWE does them very rarely and I love that this is going to be a yearly thing now.
  23. There's a new Legends of Wrestling up (on Chrome anyway), if you look into tomorrow's schedule about patriotism in wrestling. Slaughter's on the panel and they show some pictures of him as "Beautiful" Bobby Remus. Weird seeing him in tye-dye.
  24. Oops, wrong thread.
