  1. This was very indy juniors dream match style, which isn't really my thing, but this was a pretty great version of that match. I really liked the opening scramble sections of this, which were functionally Guerrero v. Malenko roll up, but with completely different spots. Styles has very powerful and aggressive take downs which really add interest to any jockying for position. I also really dug all of the different ways both guys got into there submissions, very creative stuff, Styles especially has a bunch of nasty ways to work in his ankle slicer. They did a strike exchange section which was a bit superfluous, but the finish run was pretty good, and I liked the finishing submission a bunch.
  2. Man Chris Hero's throwback Golden State Warriors gear makes him my new favorite wrestler, that is so dope. Hero was awesome in this match, I think it is his best performance in year. He totally brutalizes ZSJ while delivering some sweet smack talk, at one point he calls Sabre sweetheart while begging him to hit him. I loved how Hero used typical indy counter stuff as a shit talking move, he would counter Sabre's stuff and use it to taunt him, nice use of something which can come off like applause pandering under other circumstances. Sabre is still a little unnatural to me, his KO selling and fired up faces seem pretty performative, it isn't nearly as bad as Davey Richards, but it is in that same phylum. This also goes a bit too long, no opener, no matter the back story or talent involved should go 30 minutes. Still I did love the finish run, with Hero getting more and more vicious and Sabre trying to pull out a flash submission, or roll up and just getting overwhelmed until he gets put to sleep. Great stuff, and I like ZSJ consistently falling short to Hero, it is going to make his big win really big.
  3. These two have been feuding since 1998, but this is their first singles match against each other since 2012. One of my favorite match ups in wrestling history. Aja is maybe the greatest monster wrestler ever, she has slowed down a bit but still will beat you silly, Meiko has great looking chop down offense, she was landing some great kicks, and even doing some cool kicks and stomps to Aja's instep. Kong lays a sick beating here, including braining Meiko with chairs and a metal door, punching her in the face and dropping her on her head, and Meiko kept finding ways to land her own shots. I thought it may have gone a bit overboard in the end, including some goofus no selling, but man overall this was a hell of a war. Loved to see this revisited, now we just need another Ishikawa v. Ikeda match
  4. I think I am only missing Micheals and Benoit too
  5. I nominated Gilbert Cesca
  6. I love that the guy complaining about conservative lists hasn't had a new thought about wrestling since 1998.
  7. This is a Southern Championship match with the ring surrounded by a mesh barbed wire fence with the ringposts wrapped in barbed wire. I am pretty sure we get the vast majority of this and it is a true treat. Lawler is full on heel champ with Sam Bass at ringside passing in a foreign object and choking Fargo against the wire when the ref was distracted. This was a match of pretty much nothing but punches, wire shots and chokes, but man these are a pair of guys who can work a chokes, wire shots and punches match. Fargo may be the only wrestler in the world who can out perform Lawler in a punch off, and he was awesome here, the finish run is pretty much a wild exciting boxing match with both guys using combos, feints and head movement, just electric stuff. I didn't love the end as it felt like we were building to a classic crescendo and we didn't really get it, but man I am happy this surfaced.
  8. Man I really don't see any argument for Ohtani over Togo, and those are really comparable guys
  9. The 80s have been quite a run of people I don't give a fuck about.
  10. What possible reason would someone get SS tattoos if they weren't Neo-Nazis?
  11. I called out Dean on the Marc Rocco lie on the podcast we did
  12. Who were the dropoffs from the 2006 list?
  13. Which means... i'm not sane or average? Doesn't it just mean that you define the word "objective" differently in this context? Hate to say it, but you seem pretty sane to me... Average? Let's not go there :-) I'm not average. Ask my wife. I am sure you have other good qualities, don't be so hard on yourself
  14. I didn't have Psicosis on mine, and I really don't see an argument for him. He had a two year or so run in AAA and as a touring Rey partner, and had maybe 10 memorable matches in WCW and then two decades of nothing. I used to love the guy, but how can anyone put him in the top 100, much less top 50.
  15. Psicosis and Juventud were so promising as really young wrestlers, while at the time I loved WCW signing all of these cool luchadores, in hindsight it just murdered their careers. Really only LA Park, the Villanos and Hector Garza had post WCW lucha careers.
  16. Cool to see Honda make the top 250, I would rather watch Honda matches then almost anyone else in NOAH
  17. Lothario, Ono and Mesias are all off my list. Matt is right about Lothario, the NWA classics stuff is a revelation, every time something new drops his rep improves. I would assume there is more out there, he was just an awesome ethnic regional babyface with classic brawl after classic brawl all appearing in the last six months or so.
  18. Man that is a good argument, I really should have listened to that guy. I did rank Lothario though
  19. Octogon being that high is totally weird, it means someone is a big lucha fan, but unable to notice when someone is a total bag of laundry being carried by better wrestlers. Also B-Boy? What the fuck?
  20. Cool, Is the rest of that 1975 show available?
  21. Wow Brisco v. Lothario would be really interesting to watch. We have discovered how awesome Jose was at brawls, it would be fascinating to see how he works in an long NWA title match style
  22. So Will has been giving me shit about not putting Fargo on, I admit it maybe an oversight, but I guess the question is how much footage do you need to say someone is top 100. We really have very few Fargo matches that aren't severely clipped. He looks awesome and otherwordly in those clips, and I know if I had more I would love him, but he feels sort of like Johnny Valentine to me. Absolutely one of my guys, more footage he would be a no-brainer, but they are both just missing the evidence.
  23. Surprised someone voted for Gilbert Cesca, I was considering it obviously (I nominated him) but he didn't make my final cut, hopefully French catch continues to disseminate, so guys are better represented next time
  24. I am sure someone voted Kobashi #1, maybe one of those Disco Stu guys like El-P who are stuck in the 90s
  25. Yeah thank goodness no one nominated that turd Chuck Taylor
