  1. Thought this was pretty bad actually. I get that it's Arena coliseo and you don't want to go all in on such a small show. However, this was so short with the two falls meaning nothing and the final fall being ok but the finish was very anticlimatic. Brazo had a nice bladejob which was the highlight of the match.
  2. You know a match is gonna be really good when the first move is a senton through a Japanese table. This was outsanding in every way. The perfect mix of brawling, brutality and smart wrestling. Loved KAORU's ducking of Aja's backfist in the first part of the match and using Aja's own offense against her. Aja was like Dusty Rhodes here even blading her arm. The finishing run was awesome too. Great match. One of the best i've seen from 2000 so far.
  3. Just listened to the JCP episode from 88. I enjoyed it so I'll go back and listen to the rest. I like how the podcast is short but never boring or excessive. Very entertaining mix of clips and analysis of the episode.
  4. This felt like very sleazy indie wrestling. Like KAW style without racist Jamie Dundee promos. I gotta give Convict props for wrestling the match in handcuffs and doing crazy shit like dives. Necro was still green but that dive he did to the outside where he lands on his head was nuts. Not very good and the finish was lame.
  5. Kojima turning Koshinaka's ass based offense into a german suplex was nice. I guess I liked the Tenyru/Koshinaka team more than most. Tenyru was just brutal with his chops including the one to Saito's armpit. Koshinaka's offense can be judgy I guess but I enjoy it.
  6. Gunner Miller vs Matt Riddle 8/5 Out of all the matches from SCI weekend, this was my favorite. You got Gunner Miller who's this big dude that is over huge in Chattanooga after winning the tournament last year. Enter Matt Riddle who went to the finals last year and was basically in the tournament this year for Tank's last match. This was just a terrific sprint of a match. I wouldn't call it a spotfest but that's basically what it was without the highspots. Both guys gave it all and the crowd was going nuts for it. I can't put it into words you'll just have to watch it on Powerbomb.TV when it goes up. A star making performance for Gunner and another notch in the belt for Riddle.
  7. This was alright but I don't think I want to see another Vader singles match. Kobashi sold his ass off and hits some nice clotheslines. Vader was Vader and looked clumsy at times and brutal at times. Good to see Kobashi get the his big moment.
  8. This was a mess. Too many guys doing nothing major. Mostly here for Chono vs Hashimoto which was nice and weird matchups like Fujinami vs Frye and anything Super J. Not very good.
  9. God that finish was brutal. Kobashi lands right on his head. Enjoyable match for all the reasons said. Doc looked on fire and Vader was good too.
  10. Mosca sold more than I thought he would. That's pretty much all there is to say about this as it was slow and plodding.
  11. Seeing young Tenyru and Wild Bill before he became Wild Bill is nice. I pretty much echo what everyone else says. Very 70's feel of the match and some solid arm work. We got glimpses of bad ass tenyru with the sumo chops to Robinson. Interesting match to watch from a period i've never seen before.
  12. I don't think I've ever seen pre WWE Kenzo before. After watching this, it doesn't look like I missed much. Tenyru just kills the poor guy with stiff shots and chops. Tenyru and Sasaki going at it is always a delight and i'm a mark for ASS BASED OFFENSE. Fun short match.
  13. I also enjoyed this. Maybe not as much as the Kawada match but it was still a war. Akiyama gives it to Vader early and the Vader just destroys him. Those chokeslams where Vader just drops him on his head and through the table is sick.
  14. I love that Bass is called SOB. This was a long match of armwork and Buddy Rose bumping around. I'll never get 2/3 falls matches that only go 1 fall. Piper and Martel looked good along with Rose. The rest of the guys looked old or didn't do much. Weird seeing the Sheepherders with hair.
  15. I thought this was fine. Vader brings the slow but nice looking strike and Kawada's kicks brings down Vader a couple times. They even go into the crowd which seems rare in all Japan except for Abby matches. Vader does look old and he almost kills kawada landing on him in the finish but this was one of his better All japan matches that i've seen so far. Kawada has good chemistry with him like he did with Hansen.
  16. About 7 minutes is shown. Lots of bearhugs and claw holds in this. Krupp bleeds for some reason and does a dive off the top rope in 1980. Nice to see Kimura before he became a comedy figure.
  17. This was pretty much the Johnny Smith show. I find him interesting as he's not exciting but works well and usually take the fall. Hansen is shot but still has a presence about him and his lockups with Kobashi are nice. Fun small show match.
  18. Doc and Scorpio looked like they had something to prove after the past couple years in the US. Doc was just killing poor Ogawa with shots and was trying to motivate Misawa. He's not what he once was sure but he was better than he was in 98 and 99. Good to see Scorpio shining as things to come when he joined NOAH. Fun match.

  20. This had everything I want out of a All japan singles match: short, all action and no Misawa. This wasn't epic but very hard hitting. Those slaps reminded me of the Oney Lorcan/Danny burch series. The finish was abrupt but didn't hurt the match. The thing that seems apparent to me watching these 2000 All Japan matches is how checked out/bored the guys seems. Especially Misawa and Kobashi.

    NXT talk

I think they don't push Alister because they probably think he's getting called up sooner than later. There are a lot of guys who probably should be called up but none like black.

    NXT talk

NXT was pretty bad for most of 2016 between the time Finn left and the rise of Roode killed the crowd once his music stops. That plus stale acts like Sanity and the ROH guys coming in with no story has made the crowd not care about hardly anything. For the longest time, NXT was just running matches and hardly any stories so the crowd just got into who they wanted to. That's why guys like Tye and to an extent Ascension got over. Also, the atmosphere is not like how it used to be. It has gotten better since Mania and I thought the crowd was fine for Oney/Burch live. Especially the second match.
  23. Vader looked better here than the smith match. Looking forward to him vs Akiyama. Taue doing the bumping for Vader is interesting. I always like Misawa better in tags and this wasn't a exception.Good finish too.
  24. Vader looked over the hill in this match. Clumsy and having problems keeping up with kobashi and Akiyama. While I still don't see anything in Johnny smith, he looked good here. The end result was never in doubt but they kept it interesting even though we only see 9 minutes. OK match.
  25. I liked the match overall and it was different than the usual All Japan epics. However, the arm stuff took me out of it a little. Hase spends most of the match attacking the elbow and Misawa just no sells it when he gets on offense. I know that's normal for him and all but Hase did such a good job at it and it amounts to nothing at the end. Misawa didn't do much most of the match till the end when he was throwing bombs and suplexes. Good match but frustrating.
