  1. Who knows where they found this building to run in but it's so damn Indie I love it. Scoot and Blade work together surprisingly well early in the match. Chad's right about the valet catfight. Shorty might be one of the most useless valet's in wrestling. The finish is nuts with Blade doing a dive off the balcony or roof and Jaguar stealing the pin. Good for a 1PW match.
  2. It's interesting to see Danielson work heel here in 2000 since didn't he get fired from Power Pro for refusing to work heel there? This was an alright house show match. Dragon get lit up with chops and works good on the mat. Cade has the look but something is missing. Reminds me of Bradshaw in 95.
  3. I love that Blaze and Ian do all this talking for like 10 minutes and the first move they do is a lockup. Then they focus on lightubes before they go to the barb wire. Ian's lay down and get stabbed is very Dusty Rhodes like without the charisma. The finish was awful and made no sense. Not feeling IWA in 2000 so far.
  4. I don't remember many lumberjack matches with the lumberjacks having lighttubes. That makes this match alright as most of the action in ring was setting up tube spots. I don't get how the Light tube board with the salt works but it's a cool visual. I liked how there was so much glass in the ring the ref has to use a chair to count the 3 count.
  5. If I never hear the words "Go Kid Go" again it will be fine with me. Gotta agree with Chad that this wasn't much. Not sure why it was 2/3 falls but it would have been perfectly fine as just one fall. Kickboxer looks like he gets injured after the first fall when they go outside the building.
  6. This was going fine until the finish. I get that back then, it was ok to break stipulation's and all but this really left a sour taste to the whole thing. Koko ware returns and beats up Ali to start is General Koko gimmick. Ali really should have won clean. The crowd was dead for the end. Randy Hales comes off as a goof like he always does and Dave Brown in jeans tries his best.
  7. This was all about the finish with Jade taking a hell of a bump off the top through the table. Sad that they broke up as they were two of the better heels in Power Pro at the time.
  8. This was bad. Bad wrestling/brawling, bad commentary and bad camera work that missed most everything. You can tell Power Pro was in trouble as they would join up with MCW a couple months later. Derrick King should be above this.
  9. Good match from the Mini's. Mascara makes those springboard hurracarana's look so easy. Even when he lands on his head. Rudos looked good as bases and the match was short and had very little BS. That's all you can ask for with these guys.
  10. Golden is not too good to be a relative of Jimmy Golden. AJ is talented and very athletic but still rough around the edges and proves that hear. The turn was well done but didn't make sense. About as much sense as that top rope flatliner AJ hits at the end. Still, AJ is a better heel than face sto this was worth it.
  11. This looks like it took place in someone's garage and is backyard wrestling with professional guys. Chad is right that this seemed very generic by my god was it long. They would do spots that looked brutal but then just kept going and going to the next spot. The ladder eventually breaks so they have to turn it upside down to climb. The finish made no sense with everyone running in. Homicide's second looks like Swoll from No Limit Soldiers if he was in jail for 6 months. Not very good.
  12. For a AAA match of this era, this was worked pretty clean. I believe it's a tag title match and it goes 3 falls which is rare. 3 of the 4 guys in this aren't very good but they try. Some nice dives by Hector Garza and then the bullshit starts. Alebrijie helps out the rudos but it turns out to be a fake. Decent match.
  13. I enjoyed the Hansen/Shiga parts of this. Shiga kept trying and trying and Hansen was entertaining the idea of selling for Shiga and then just lariat's him when he's done playing. Hansen/Kobashi parts were fun. Hansen might not be able to go anymore around this time but he's still trying his best. Smith was a non factor basically.
  14. I'm surprised to see Puerto Rican legend and former CMLL main eventer Rico Suave doing a sheik gimmick in 2000 Big Japan. Out of the three deathmatches i've seen on this card, I liked this the most. While it featured weapons, they made sense and the match wasn't booked around stunts. Homna bleeds a lot and Sheik focuses on the head to get the blood flow really going. Homna makes a comeback and all is well. Maybe not a good match but I liked where it was going.
  15. The truck driving into the ring posts seems very dangerous. This was better than the WX match as Homna was able to work with Zandig around the crazy bumps.
  16. Zandig trying to do a flip over in the corner on WX was hilarious. This is a very Zandig match where he gives a beating but winds up losing at the end. Not sure why wifebeater is there to make it a 2 on 1. The visual of the ref counting and the lemon juice flying in the air was cool.
  17. I don't think they flew in the wwe women. They live in Florida except Bayley.
  18. This is more of a fire show than a wrestling match. So many people at ring side between the Vatos locos and the Vipers. After a while, Ciber and Sangre disappear and the seconds get in the cage and battle it out with fire. Even Kane would say that's too much. Can't really rate this as nothing happens in the match. Another gang shows up and this becomes a mess. Most people will hate it but I find the chaos entertaining.
  19. Besides the Fire Thunder Driver and the fireballs, I thought this was pretty bad . Sabu seemed to be going through his greatest hits and not that successfully. Gannosuke was alright but he's not the most exciting guy. The crowd was dead thoughout. Sabu's fireball was nice but then Gannosuke topped it by doing a picudo style fire spot. That was a good finish. Bad match.
  20. This felt like one of those NXT title matches from the Nakamura era like Nakamura/Joe. The story is good and the action is fine but they give no reason to care. Like Hayabusa has his mask on but it doesn't really change anything. Just couldn't get into this at all.
  21. AAA still gets the big crowds and lots of heat. This is no different. Not the most exciting match but it told a story with Abismo getting the big push and the continued Octagon/Pentagon feud.
  22. Always good to see Yakushiji. Too bad he was mostly with Quallt and not Togo. This was all action which is all you can ask. Togo was great as always but I thought Hoshikawa looked good too. Fun match.
  23. Always love these Michinoku Pro shows where they have fans sitting on the floor instead of seats. Makes Sasuke the Great going into the crowd and the fans scattering that much better. This was fine but kinda short. I wanted to see more Apache/Hamada but the foucus was mostly on the Sasukes. Chad Collyer sticks out like a sore thumb.
  24. This started off not very good with seconds interfering and rudo refs. That's too be expected in Monterrey singles matches. I dug Ultimo Guerrero's LWO shirt. Around the second fall, this got really good. The crowd was going crazy for Santo and Santo did a lot of dives. Love the fans running away trying to not get hit as Panther and Santo are flying all over the place. The emotion in the third fall made this seem like a mask match. Porky starts crying at the finish and the crowd rushes the ring at the end while Security tries to get them out of the ring. Great story and emotion. Not as good as the earlier match but still really good.
  25. So according to the cubsfan site, the Villano/Scorpio match took place on 6/1 while this one took place on 5/28. Doesn't matter as I'm sure Scorpio and Shocker worked some sunday show we don't know about so they did double duty. Anyways, this is all about Niebla/Scorpio. Scorpio bleeds but gets the last laugh on Niebla at the end. Antifaz/Zumbido seem to be feuding and Zumbido takes a header to the floor when he does his flip to the outside move. Fun Monterrey match. The thing i'm loving about lucha in 2000 is all the feuds in different territories these guys are involved in. Shocker has Tarzan boy, Villanos, and others while Scorpio has the Villanos, Niebla, Perro etc. You don't see that much these days, especially from CMLL guys.
