WWE Brain: Defining and Changing the Melodramatic Narrative

Yeah but they both are like a buck fifty each. If alternate universe Conor entered pro wrestling instead of MMA, WWE Brains would be screaming how unbelievable him winning matches would be. -
WWE Brain: Defining and Changing the Melodramatic Narrative

MMA pretty much destroyed the myth of only chiseled Adonises can be ass kickers. The biggest PPV draws are Floyd Mayweather and Conor MacGregor who are small dudes. It's one thing when Rey was debuting amongst the giants, but we've had nearly 30 years of smaller guys in wrestling so it's really crazy to me people are still stuck on this. -
WWE Brain: Defining and Changing the Melodramatic Narrative

Blood with turn off the casuals! Won't someone think of the casuals! Loss made a great point on Twitter that Casual Wrestling Fans are like the mythical unicorn voters that all politicians are courting after/afraid to offend that no one can actually point to existing. Hopefully we won't see this as much with Vince gone, but I get tired of the "stupid WWE gimmick names don't matter, they're just names" as if it wasn't the #1 branding a wrestler has and a poor one can negatively effect their career path. The Rock would never have been as big as...well The Rock if he was never allowed to evolve past being Blue Chipper Rocky Miavia. -
WWE Brain: Defining and Changing the Melodramatic Narrative

Also the belief (which mostly comes from the Russophiles) that long matches are Actually Bad and hurt business in the long run. It will be interesting to see how this plays out considering Uncle Paul is having longer matches on his shows now. -

If someone isn't 6'3 and jacked, then they aren't a real pro wrestler and are just "cosplaying". That particular nugget seems to have stuck with people more than anything, -
The boss shouldn't be so blunt though. His job is to emphasize strengths and hide weaknesses. It doesn't do anyone any favors to be all "well we all know Rosa sucks at promos, but what can you do? Amirite?" There's a middle ground between being that and super buzzword-empty weasel words though. I will say that particular promo was probably done backstage due to the circumstances more than anything else. She had been given the chance to cut promos in front of the live crowd before though, and most of them died a death.

They did Lucha Brothers vs Los Ingobernales, which both AAA and CMLL would have killed for (well maybe not CMLL because they hold stupid grudges forever).

I mean, even if he is it's still driving numbers for the company....so.....good? If he was dragging them down, I'd understand the resentment but he's been nothing but positive business wise. Seems like people are mad that AEW is being run as a business and not a a magical fantasyland.
-
I mean, AEW as an entity was willed into existence due to the growing base of pro wrestling fans who were beyond tired with WWE's hamster wheel of the last 20 years. What better person to lead that charge than the guy famous for being sick of WWE's bullshit? Like the only difference between Punk and Moxley is that Mox didn't have a very public falling out with his best friend.
-
It's one thing to not like CM Punk, but AEW has been back over a million viewers since he's returned, crowds are hot, and the angle to build the Mox match (as quickly as it had to be done) was fire. To say his signing was in any way a detriment to the company is some real galaxy brain thinking at this point.

She became a star because Nia busted her face up and she got to have a cool "badass stands bloodied but victorious" moment. She kept it going with her promos, but they weren't the cause of it.

Filming the Twisted Metal show (movie? I forget which).

It was pretty clear almost immediately that ReDragon was signed as Tony's post-goal celebration after NXT admitted defeat. I didn't really care much about them being in AEW, but I can't begrudge TK wanting to stick it up Hunter's ass one more time that his pissant company beat him by completely snatching the team that ran roughshod on NXT.

Well for Brandon Cutler it's established he's the camera man for the Bucks' vlog/Youtube channel so there's a legit storyline for him to be there, but you got a point for the rest. I suppose they could just say Nakazawa is just Kenny's Brandon Cutler, but there's no way to make Don fit.

Buddy must have been fun to work with, I know the NWA had to threaten to donate his championship deposit to charity and put him in the ring with Lou Thesz to make sure he finally dropped the belt. Also pretty sure Bruno had to give him the "we can do this the easy way or the hard way" talk so he would drop the WWWF title.
-
Probably, although I think there's been times it was close. It's just cool having two major promotions with excitement and hot crowds again. This is how it always used to be until the Monopoly Era, but it feels like a breath of fresh air.

Ospreay and Omega at Wrestle Kingdom is going to be absolutely banana.
-
Both guys aren't going to be babyfaces in Chicago I'm sure. Plus sloppy or not, these are the two biggest names in AEW (at least until Kenny gets back up to speed) so it's a money match to make.
-
I can't say I recommend waiting until the week of to book your PPV main event, but if you do holy shit is that the way to do it
-
Miro cutting promos on God will never not be awesome.
-
I mean I respect the guy for straightening out his life, but I don't want him being a regular in AEW.
-
Stokely, baby, what is you doin?
-
He's really the World's Tallest Vanilla MIdget. Dude obviously has wrestling skills but all the charisma of a cardbox box.

Mox with the fire promo to kick things off.
