The demo figures are a little higher on TNT, but a lot of that is due to NBA games. TBS has a tiny bit more homes, but it's basically a lateral move viewership wise and now they don't have to worry about tons of pre-emptions due to sports so it's a net gain for AEW.

NXT was another solid show this week, loved the Candice/Indy stuff. I wonder what the plan is going to be with Franky Monet since so far all they've established is that she irritates everyone else. Gargano/Reed was a good WWE style cage match, and the hype video for next week's main event was top notch. For bonus lols, go back to the opener and listen to Beth's brain blow a fuse while trying to get through an especially thick pile of WWE verbiage.

With all due respect..... someone facing consquences for being a shit person isn't being "cancelled by the woke mob", dude had a million chances to apologize back when it happened but he kept fucking that proverbial chicken and doubled down every time. He's not entitled to be on Dave's show or anywhere else. ...and now a word from frankly the only person who's opinion truly matters in all this: So yeah, not gonna agree with the "this is just all woke cancel culture getting BIG MAD for no reason" when the fucking widow of the guy was accused of being a part of a coverup about her husband's death not even a full day later. I can aaaaaaaaaaaaaaalmost see where Bruce is coming from in terms of rushing to conclusions that seem to make sense in your brain immediately after a tragedy. Anyone who was online when Benoit happened can attest to that. He should have taken the reaction he received at that time to sit back and think "you know, I think I may have fucked up royally here". Instead he pulled a Principal Skinner "no, it's the children who are out of touch" so fuck him.

Double or Nothing is being shown in select Cinemark theatres for $20, which sounds intriguing but there's no showings anywhere around me listed yet. Dr. Britt would not be pleased if her hometown gets shut out of this, lol.

Tony's always come across as a guy who genuinely enjoys wrestling (at least until WCW killed it), while JR always came off to me as a guy who really wanted a career as a football broadcaster and wrestling was his plan B.

WWE needs to have Sonya, Rollins, and Omos do a swag-off.

TBF people were saying that when he was trying to work with the horrible verbiage he was being given as a babyface. No diss to his Dogness, I don't think anyone could have made that shit work. If anything, he's my exhibit #1 of how their terrible scripting can negatively impact someone's perception with the audience.

I always assumed the endgame for the Cody stip would be that a heel champion does something so dastardly the fans demand that it be lifted so the heel can get their comeuppance. Maybe that was the plan before the pandemic wiped everything out (can't really do that kind of story with no fans around to demand it after all), maybe the plan was do feud more with Brodie Lee, which obviously went out the window. Either way it's been puzzling to see a guy who's an EVP floating around with nothing much of importance to do as if he was a directionless midcarder.

To be fair, all pro wrestling is sports entertainment, it just happens that WWE was the one who said the quiet part out loud. It's also sports entertainment run by a guy in his mid 70s and his #1 yes man who's been at least 25 years out of touch with the business. I agree there has been a sharp drop-off in the quality of Cody's act since he left to do the Go Big show. It really seems like once he got a taste of the entertainment business a switch flipped and he didn't seem to care about his wrestling career. Ever since has been a series of baffling segments/promos/angles where it seems like he's been mind swapped with some sort of Bizarro Cody.

It would be hard to do a Yokozuna doc that didn't focus on his obesity when it was a lifelong battle, his wrestling gimmick, the reason the WWF had to let him go, and ultimately the reason he died. It would be like if the Freddie Mercury doc I watched tonight didn't focus in part on his AIDS battle when it became a big part of his story.

WWE: Blood and Guts set the business back 30 years. Also WWE: does a match with zombie lumberjacks. Gotta love it.

I'm loving Rey's Adam West Batman attire.
-
The problem is while every match looks good on paper (and probably will be good from a technical standard), most of them have an obvious winner so there's no intrigue or drama.

Charlotte's gear looks like she's wearing some kind of sexy 101 Dalmations cosplay.

Dave talked about it on the beginning of today's WO radio show, and while I get the sense he still thinks Bruce got a raw deal, he acknowledged the vast amount of feedback was negative. He also took full responsibility and more or less apologized to Bryan for putting him in a bad spot (and probably hitting his wallet since there were a lot of people screenshotting that they canceled their subs over it).

This is probably why she came back, looks like WWE shitcanned the "management team" that was gonna make sure everyone's side hustles went thru WWE first: (from the WO daily update) On LinkedIn, Amy Tunick wrote that WWE made the decision to disband their Talent Management Group team: “I was hired by WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) to build and lead a new talent management division focused on strategic brand-building and monetizing IP for 300+ WWE Superstars. Unexpectedly, the company made a decision to change course and disbanded the new team after just 5 weeks.” WWE had stated that the Talent Management Group would “deliver best-in-class 360-degree support of Talent across all internal lines of business and key external partners, amplifying Talent brand value and maximizing monetization opportunities for Talent and WWE.”

Cody comes off as the one friend in the group that always tries to one-up everyone no matter how ridiculous it makes him look. It can be funny or cute at first, but eventually everyone just starts rolling their eyes thinking "oh christ, not this asshole again".

I was seeing claims that folks were reaching out to NBC/Universal as well as WWE, so I'm thinking Sami might have taken them down to not cause any problems with the company. Also it was extra gross how those groups were going out of their way to refer to Sami by his shoot name to make him sound more Arabic.

AAA is in the middle of a lawsuit with their US promoter and while it's going on they aren't allowed to do anything on US TV. It's why they had to take down their English YouTube channel and stop broadcasting on Twitch (well they were going to stop doing Twitch anyway but this gave them cover). Impact probably doesn't want to risk getting looped in to the mess. I know the AAA belt has shown up on Dynamite, but they are less afraid of it.

Bryan, who should be noted didn't know about this before it was posted per several people who work for the site, posted on the Board to say the interview would be pulled and he understood anyone who canceled their subscription over it since he always tells people to vote with their wallets.
-
IMO no one ever said Roman can't cut a promo, just that the company was killing him with the "sufferin succotash " type shit. Could you even imagine your Tribal Chief saying that nonsense now?
-
Well Cody seemingly tried to big time him when it looked like Punk might have wanted to be a part of All In, so I didn't think it was any secret there.
-
This is one of those deaths that on one hand isn't surprising because of everything he put his body through, but on the other hand it's the most surprising since I had him in the Jake Roberts "if he survived all that shit, he's gonna live forever" category.
-
Also I gotta wonder how Dave's pal Tony feels about this interview.
-
Yeah I tend to be on the Dave Defender side of things, but fuck giving this guy any platform.
