  1. Bret seemed to have a knack for being able to get away with blading during that time period. I don't know if he was just really good at it or Vince thought he'd be dumb enough to confess to it,.
  2. Interesting. I never thought i'd see Vince let anyone else have that kind of power within the company. It's always been his MO to only give folks the minimum amount needed to do their jobs, and in some cases not even that much.
  3. Fabi Apache won the match (was a multi woman match for the title that was vacated when Taya went to NXT) and Deonna challenged her to a title vs title match at Triplemania.
  4. OK, apparently it's someone else besides La Heidra in the gimmick but still lololololol for Dolce.
  5. AAA just debuted the former La Heidra as the new Sexy Star, Dolce just getting the 100% recommended daily allowance of L's this weekend.
  6. Deonna Purazzo came out to do commentary for the Reina de Renias (women's title) match at the AAA show tonight, so it looks like that partnership is still going on. Also if that means some AAA luchadoras are going to Impact it would make their women's division that match better.
  7. I was thinking while watching Smackdown, how much credit should Paul Heyman be given for this Roman Revitalization? Obviously Roman's put in the work, but this run has been remarkable for not having any typical WWE nonsense like things coming off as forced. Paul has that magic power of somehow getting Vince to allow people he's associated with book their own shit, and it made me wonder how much he's been acting like a buffer to keep the usual meddling hands away.
  8. She was known for having a pretty severe case of "notgonnadoajob-itis" in wrestling and generally seemed to be pretty full of herself before the Triplemania deal happened, so there's going to be a lot of schadenfreude when she takes an L.
  9. I don't want to speak for the good bubba, but I think the match is going to depend on what WWE think Bryan's plans are. If they think he's leaving to finally have his Five Star World Tour we might see a quick, decisive (if not a squash) type match. If they think he's staying we may get an actual good, long match.
  10. As a certified Old Internet Man, it's been fascinating to me to see how cycles repeat themselves w/r/t message boards on the internet. Like it doesn't even matter what the subject is, there's almost always going to be a certain group who seemingly only exist to be pains in everyone else's asses. Makes places like this a real breath of fresh air, and the fact that a lot of the founders of this board are also veterans of ancient message board wars is probably no accident.
  11. That's been pretty much par for the course with any site Scott's been involved with (ones he had a say in how they operate at least).
  12. They've been doing a long running story that the Dark Order is trying to win the TNT title back for Mr. Brodie, Hangman's redemption arc seems like it would dovetail nicely with that.
  13. I mean 800k or whatever the final number was isn't too bad considering it was going up against a Presidential address.
  14. Yeah, but I seem to recall a few times before that where all logic would seem to indicate he would have won and didn't, which was puzzling me at the time and now makes me wonder how long they knew and were just hoping it was going to go away.
  15. I'm wondering if they were starting to sour on him even before the allegations broke, as it seemed like his ring work was far behind his character work with no signs of it improving. Plus it seemed a little weird at the time when it seemed storyline wise they were building him up to win the NXT title and just.....didn't. I know that's common on main brand WWE but it felt very "plans changed" for NXT.
  16. On one hand I can see how a performer would like not having to worry about fans hijacking the story you're trying to tell, but of course when they do that it means you did your job poorly. You can't be a whiny pissbaby about fans rejecting the story and not the company that fights them every step of the way.
  17. I would imagine any release for Dream would involve stacks of NDAs saying he can't talk about how the company harbored and protected a guy who at best read spoke to teenagers inappropriately.
  18. Hell, the last time Dream had a match in front of other NXT workers and PC trainees, they were noticeably not reacting to anything he did. I think WWE feels like they painted themselves in a corner with him since Hunter vocally defended keeping him around so many times and now it seems like he's a pariah to his co workers. Knowing WWE mentality they probably are refusing to release him out of spite because they think it will look like they are caving in.
  19. IIRC the kidnapping case was dropped, the victim declined to pursue it. People tended to interpret how it went down as "Alberto wrote a check to make it go away".
  20. Well sometimes you run into something so absurd it makes you laugh, I would think that's what Joey was referring to.
  21. I hope there's a crackdown on this nonsense too, but this is a company that already meddles in every part of their independent contractor's lives to make sure they aren't able to earn a penny without it going through Vince's fingers first, but are apparently OK with talent posting dangerous anti vax and covid denial bullshit on social media.
  22. Impact is basically in the same boat as ROH where they are owned by their TV station and provide the best value as (relatively) low cost content.
  23. Dave basically said the only thing keeping AEW and New Japan guys from being on each other's shows at this point is travel restrictions. As soon as people can fly internationally with less BS it's on.
  24. and just like that Miro was PWO's favorite wrestler.
  25. I kinda hope the Caveman from CMLL gets pissed at their shenanigans and leaves so he can come to AEW and have a match with their caveman.
