Cornette is the annoying kid in class who doesn't pose any real harm but gets under everyone's skin to the point they want to slap him. Of course the better play is to just ignore him and move on, but I can't imagine being someone he's targeted on a regular basis not wanting to throttle the piss out of him. I really can't blame anyone in AEW for lashing out to be honest, dude's probably making bank by taking cheap shots at the company and making homophobic comments at their champion on a regular basis. The onus shouldn't be on the target to keep a stiff upper lip and take the abuse, the person dealing the abuse needs to be told to STFU. We've seen countless examples of the "just ignore it" mindset just leading to the toxic person just gaining more influence, since people see garbage being spewed unchecked and think there must be some merit behind it.

Q-pilled means he's been brainwashed into believing q-anon stupidity, not that he's taking actual pills.

It seems like it was just largely the creators of the show discussing various theories about his death, the real scoop seems to have been them getting Gino's mom to talk about his dad, which finally put the "Is Paul Boesch Gino's dad?" rumor to bed.

So I guess Corny must have called Penelope Ford a slut at some point, since Miro went on a Twitter rant basically threatening to beat his ass over it. I know that's just feeding into what he and his fans want, but Mike Tyson said it best when he said social media has got people too used to being disrespectful and not getting punched in the mouth for it.

WCW was famous for having loads of authority figures to the point it was never clear who was really in charge. Was it Nick Bockwinkel? Was it Roddy Piper? Bischoff? Some unseen WCW Board of Directors? Some totally random Turner suit brought out to make an announcement? What was the hierarchy? Did the President outrank the Commissioner? We'd never know for sure.
-
Kind of a forgotten thing was how WCW would split Nitro into two separate hours complete with switching the announcers up and pyro.
-
There's still opportunity to be a buffet, WCW was able to do it when they had an audience of millions every week. You had lucha matches, cruiser matches, hardcore matches with plunder, and whatever bullshit the nWo was doing on top. I think AEW's biggest problem is they clearly stacked their roster once they signed a new deal with TNT expecting a second TV show shortly. The pandemic delayed that plan and now they are left with way too many people with the TV time they have. Yes , I know, Dark is a thing, but other than the crawl on the screen saying the results they almost never mention it on Dynamite.

Yeah it seems that Don does the business end and D'Amore does the booking, and both have done a way better job than anyone could have reasonably expected making Impact meaningful in 2021.
-
You did, but at the same time why would "Booking Genius Paul Heyman" be an acceptable answer in that case? If the fans chanted A-E-Dub at the reveal does that mean it's okay to not explain who did it? Because you can argue that AEW itself is AEW's biggest star since so many fans were dying to have some competent competition to what they saw as a dull and creatively bankrupt monopoly.

I mean, we saw weeks of MJF trying to get on everyone's good side like that one segment where MJF was seemingly bonding with Santana after both of them legit lost strong male role models in their lives. I can easily see it as them knowing he was full of shit and MJF realizing they know he's full of shit so he arranged his own stable as plan B. As far as "who turned off the lights", you could say either MJF just paid off a production worker with his implied wealth, or maybe Tully arranged it because he's a devious old school bastard who can get things done. I can see how it would be something you would want an answer to, but honestly it doesn't matter that much to me. Maybe it's a side effect of all the years of WWE tropes being beaten into my head as normal, but I just kind of accept that kind of thing in wrestling now and not think too much more about it.

The name James E. Cornette was a rib on James E. Barnett, and Bill Watts was sure to always use terms like "sissy" to make it clear what you were supposed to think about the Cornette character. It did gradually morph into more of a rich and spoiled mama's boy by the time he was in JCP though, but even then they'd hint at it when he'd be feuding with Baby Doll.

I don't usually like WWE skits like this, but Nia and Reggie shopping while Shanya is looking like she wants to choke herself out due to boredom had me rolling.
-
Agreed! Can we put Montez Ford on the list of top frog splashes? Dude nearly leaps out of frame every time he does it.

It will be interesting to see what happens since officially WWE turned down Andrade's request for a release like everyone expected. If the person he was in a relationship was literally anyone else. Vince would be pressuring her into breaking up with him and doing angles just to fuck with them. Charlotte's not adverse to using a "that doesn't work for me brother" on his behalf, I seem to recall one of the brand drafts got reshuffled slightly to keep them together. Not that she should be obligated to go all out like Lawler did when The Kat got fired, but she's someone who could take a stand if she felt the need to.
-
He's unhappy, it's a bad look to hold on to someone you clearly don't have any plans for just to play keep away, he's in a relationship with your top women's star and pissing him off runs the risk of pissing her off. Of course word already came out WWE said no, there was no chance they were going to actually do it, but it pretty much makes it a lock he's gone the second his deal is up.
-
I don't see WWE granting him a release, he's too talented and they are way too petty. Unless something changed super recently, he is still with Charlotte, her social media was full of photos of them together.
-
Man, it's easy to dismiss her as a bitter weirdo and all (and from the sounds if it, it's probably correct to do so), but I can't discount the possibility that someone super religious can turn out to also be super fake. Maybe that's just me showing the battle scars from growing up with half my family being extremely Catholic, but there was just something about Malia's story that just rang really familiar to me. Of course the more likely story is that Malia just rubs everyone the wrong way and that was just Molly's way of telling her to GTFO as politely as possible.

AEW's style is so far from what he's familiar with/comfortable with he'd probably not do well calling it if he was still in his prime, so late-stage-several-moscow-mules-before-the-show JR is not going to stand a chance. He really was great calling Cody-Dustin since that kind of match is his bread and butter, but he's just going to be exposed so bad calling a match with tons of flying around. Problem is he was apparently one of the reasons Tony was able to land a deal with TNT, so there's probably concern they'd upset their TV partners if they put him out to pasture.
-
Basically one could say the Christian deal was the first time Tony Khan carnied everyone (overhyping a surprises to sell a PPV) and a lot of people took it as a stretch (if not an all out break) of the trust he's built up so far.
-
To be fair, this is true for anyone not Stan Hansen or JBL who were able to make a lariat look devestating. I used to think Nikita killing jobbers with the Russian Sickle was the greatest thing ever when I was a kid, watching it now is less impressive.

So I went into the comments (I know, I know, it was for science) of a story on a newz site speculating on who Lashley's Mania opponent would be, and aside from the obvious racists it was interesting to see what 20+ years of WWE audience programming has done. A lot of folks were saying Bobby isn't a good wrestler because he wins matches by submission instead of pinfall. It was interesting to see so many people who see submission based wrestling as inferior for whatever reason.
-
Yeah apparently Vince felt whatever the original plans were wasn't big enough for a two day Mania and everything was ripped up.
-
Especially to have them lose to Shotzi and Ember....why not have them win the Dusty Cup and make them the first champs directly? Plus you half-babyfaced Dakota and Raquel by having them be the ones who got screwed when they did that bootleg "Network reps meddle with ECW" angle with Adam Pearce.

So it looks like the new NWA is going to be the UWN guys from Championship Wrestling from Hollywood.

Just announced Britt vs Rosa in a lights out match will main event Dynamite next week.
