WWE TV 01/25 - 01/31 What's the pro wrestling equivalent of Mahomes vs Brady?
sek69 replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
Yeah as much as Vince probably sees nothing wrong/approves of That Guy's behavior, he's the exact type of guy who's WWE arc is getting buried on the main roster after a decent NXT run because Vince doesn't see anything in him, -
It's amazing to see a fan base that cannot make it any more clear they were tired of the same old shit and wanted to cheer new stars, and a company that thought so little of said fan base that they think throwing them an occasional bone while continuing to serve up the same old shit was an effective strategy.

Watching Smackdown now, and god damn KO should be the one teaching the newbies how to cut promos at the PC. -
True, but you can get more tangible justice via social media (out the person as a predator, get them fired/lose sponsors for their shitty behavior) than getting bled financially by the legal system only to end up with either a slap on the wrist (in a criminal case) or a victory in civil court that will end up resulting in nothing for the victim after lawyer costs and still getting all the same abuse. It's not the greatest reflection of society but it might be the most accurate one.

The Thread Killer Talks Too Much: The Recaps

JR's been on the WO radio show several times, and I always got the assumption that he and Dave (and Bryan too) were friends even if they don't always agree 100% with each other. As far as Dave's reporting being always true, I would imagine it's hard for any report to bat 1.000 and even more so when his beat involved the notoriously shady business full of carnies like pro wrestling. Everyone he talks to has an agenda and looking to work everyone else. Dave clearly has an obsession with being correct, he's admittedly sat on stories until he could get multiple sources to confirm, and has issues corrections in the Observer for the tiniest of details. Even taking all those cautions into account, you're going to get worked occasionally when you're dealing with workers. I get the feeling he knew Eric was deliberately trying to feed him BS, and Eric took offense at Dave not just passing it on without question. -

Yeah, he's stated several times that the reporting that Eric takes the most issue with (about the inner workings of WCW) is the same reporting he spent hours talking with him about when it happened. I believe it's a split between Eric having a notoriously poor memory and legit not recalling those discussions, and the worker side of him realizing there's a market in being the "anti Meltzer" to a crowd that eats that shit up. -

Also while Michael Hayes is a shitty person a lot of the time, that's no excuse to attempt to murder the man. Halcon mixed with as much alcohol someone like Hayes would drink? Jesus Christ they were so lucky the only people on Earth to have the drug tolerance not to die from something like that are pro wrestlers from the 80s and 90s. -

Which is why Dave always mentions when talking about Eric, Bruce, et al that it's all a gimmick to them and their podcast co host is in on it. -
I'm wondering how *he* can afford all this, as far as I can tell it's not like he has tons of companies bidding for his services at the moment and he closed down his own promotion. I would think any lawyer worth a shit wouldn't take a case like this pro bono, so where is he getting the money for all this from?

I think Mox is my favorite wrestler right now, just everything the dude does right now is money.

I thought Britt was going to break her back and make her humble Shieky style.

Jungle Boy's entrance is going to be amazing when crowds come back.

old school knux, Eddie is the greatest.

Well dang.....I feel like just ruined Christmas for you or something, my bad.

I thought Shanna got cancelled for being a far-right Islamophobe after retweeting French right wingers.

Well at least this year will come off less sad in a socially-distanced stadium than it did last year in an empty PC. -
Also the Network was very much a George Barrios/Michelle Wilson project. If anything it comes off as a "new coach comes in and replaces the former regime's ideas" move from Nick Khan.

Considering they got a billion dollars over the next five years, it's more like they cashed on a streaming service looking to overpay for content. It's not like NBC/Universal got a WCW level deal here.

So I guess today was that India-centered Supershow where they brought in Jinder and all the Indian folks collecting dust at the PC, any of our India brothers watch the show? -

I'm sure if Shayna wanted to issue a receipt they won't punish someone who's friends with a big star they are still thirsty to get back. Besides, she seems smart enough that if there was a receipt it won't be something obvious, I'd wager the next time she gets Charlotte in a submission it might end up being pretty snug. -

Also interesting to point out this deal for the WWE Network makes no sense for NBC/Universal unless the long term plan is to go after Smackdown when the Fox deal ends, and the possibility at that point since Vince will be almost 80 it could be the right time for them to buy WWE outright. If they are going to shell out money for Raw and Network rights, you might well just own the company and save yourself some bucks.
