  1. The cult leader magic will be gone though. It'll be hard to keep the gates closed when there's no longer a charismatic leader around to keep people entranced, I recently watched a documentary about the Kim family from North Korea, and it was interesting to see how it was Kim Jong-Il who was the propaganda master who created the cult of personality around his father that made him a God to the people and basically created the Kim dynasty as we know it. The scenes of people bursting into tears at the announcement of Kim Il-Sung's death It made me think it's probably what we'll see when the time comes for Vince. I'd half expect WWE to build a giant statue of Vince and decree anyone working for WWE have a portrait of Vince in their homes at all times. The difference here is no one in WWE seems to be at the level of Kim Jong-Il in terms of propaganda though, I fully expect whoever's left in charge to do a series of embarrassing tributes that reset the cringe meter.
  2. His dad is a TV producer, so that more than likely opened doors for him. Still, you'd think a guy who's resume includes working on racist-ass Sherriff Joe's show and working for TMZ when they released the Dusty Rhodes 911 call would have hit his ceiling sooner than later. WWE saw a guy who would pass along anything given to him as BREAKING NEWZ without question so suppose they felt he was a useful enough idiot.
  3. From what I can tell Haku seems to be a legit nice guy who just happens to be the baddest motherfucker anyone's ever known. Like he didn't need to talk a lot of stuff or bully anyone since he knew he could beat anyone else's ass if need be.
  4. Also lest you think this is a new(er) problem, it took Andre the Giant and two Hebners for someone to finally beat Hogan after 4+ years.
  5. It's the Superman paradox. You try to make an unbeatable superhero, but you end up having to create so many macguffins to make beating him seem plausible it makes everyone look silly in the process.
  6. Daniel Bryan? Getting squashed in 18 seconds by Sheamus was the spark that got fans rallying behind him to the point they nearly rioted that he didn't win a Rumble he wasn't even in.
  7. Fitting that the guy who used the Garvin Stomp ends up getting done like Ronnie was.
  8. Shayna out here saving lives by not letting Nia hit a move off the top.
  9. H with the big "Dad going out to whoop your older brother who's kind of an asshole" energy.
  10. Gulak vs Styles is one of those matches I would love to see in the last place I'd want to see it.
  11. I'm all in for Omos to become the 2021 Big Bubba Rogers in terms of being awesome just standing behind his dudes then (hopefully) becoming better in the ring than anyone expected.
  12. I think Omos is wearing a whole ass cow for that leather jacket.
  13. If they just want to beat up Riddle every week, I'm OK with that.
  14. I suppose he's made the US title mean something for the first time in a while so there's that I guess.
  15. Y'know, maybe this wasn't the best week to have Jaxson Ryker's RAW debut.
  16. Ric putting a woman he wants to fuck ahead of his daughter seems like a "too real" type of thing, but maybe that's just me.
  17. Gotta admit it's cracking me up that they're doing an angle where Ric Flair is the one being sexually harrassed for a change.
  18. Drew also did a backstage promo segment with the Hulkster too, BROTHER. Anyone testing positive when they had all the elderly legends on stage together the week before is a scary situation.
  19. It's interesting that she hates professional wrestling, yet she married a guy who's so involved in it. Like I know Conrad's main gig is his mortgage business, but he's put quite a lot into his wrestling podcast career and by all accounts he's done well financially with it. It's funny how so many folks with ties to the business, even negative ones like hers or the third generation Von Erich kids, still end up getting involved even if it's a secondary involvment.
  20. So I pretty much agree with TTK's theory that Eric realized pretty quickly that he wasn't going to be a good fit for WWE's weird ass "free time is for pussies" corporate culture, and his description of the first several weeks being nothing but meetings is pretty much my definition of hell. I also pretty much agree with Conrad that bringing in Eric and Paul as heads of each brand was largely done to make it look like Vince was delegating so he wouldn't get sued by shareholders over running WWE and the XFL at the same time. There's no proof that would stand up in court of course, but it sure seemed like once it looked like Vince wasn't going to get sued by shareholders the idea that Eric and Paul would have any meaningful roles went way. However it cracked me up where he went from stating he hated how his 16 hour days involved lots of downtime, to stating Dave was lying when he said Eric was sitting around doing nothing (which he didn't even do in the way Eric said he did). It honestly comes off as Trumplike projecting at times, accusing others of things he himself did. Or maybe Rick James from the Chappelle show skit, I can just see Eric denying he ever dug his boots on Dave's couch before admitting that, yes he did in fact dig his boots in the couch. The rasslin' business is a hell of a drug.
  21. It's interesting to me that WWE announced this, seeing as though prior they would be very upset at anyone announcing their status.
  22. So if Drew has the rona, that means Keith Lee and Goldberg should be quarantining too, right?
  23. WWE has been staying away from mentioning Trump this whole time, can't imagine they would have him do a Mania appearance now that he's incited an insurrection.
  24. I mean if we're going to be fair a lot the issues with Kane came from him being booked in garbage like Katie Vick and electrocuting Shane's balls with jumper cables. As an actual wrestler he was a decent big man worker, and I was always impressed at how well he was able to convey emotion when he had the mask on. That's not a skill just anyone has.
