  1. Gotta admit I didn't expect much from KENTA/Kojima since it was a last minute injury replacement but it was pretty good. Looks like they are going to have KENTA go to the US and face Mox at the LA Dojo. I guess as long as it's on NJPW World and not on US TV it won't run afoul of AEW's contracts.
  2. Riki Choshu in the house
  3. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea but Yano always cracks me up.
  4. I love how offended Ishii's face gets when someone thinks their moves will faze him.
  5. It started at 2 am EST, which as a night owl is right in the sweet spot of my evening.
  6. Toa Henare getting the "young guy eliminates legends" spot this year.
  7. Night 1 is kicking off with the New Japan Rumble. Crowd looks pretty decent all things considered.
  8. One thing I noticed when it comes to discussing people from different eras, is that it tends to have subtext of "X was part of my childhood/initial experience with wrestling so that makes him better and I will not harbor any discussion otherwise".
  9. His feud against the Authority that capped off with him winning the main event at Mania was pretty neat. I thought that was pretty career defining. It defines his WWE career according to their canon.
  10. You're not wrong, but at the same time I'd argue some of Bryan's best work was some of the amazing carry jobs he's done in WWE. They may not be technical masterpieces, but in terms of being a better professional wrestler I think Bryan has the edge just because he's been able to do as much or more while working with less in most cases.
  11. Honestly I always saw Bret as a more technically sound Ric Flair. He is obviously very good in ring, but he had a pattern he tended to stick to in a lot of his matches. There's a reason he was the one who the term Five Moves of Doom was coined for long before it was known as a Cena thing. I don't fault a guy for falling in a pattern on those infamously long WWF death tours, but it does mean his work won't match up well with someone like Bryan.
  12. Yeah, I don't want to play armchair psychologist but someone lighting up a 30 year career like that is a a pretty loud cry for help.
  13. Another great Foley quote was when he was asked if he thought Herb faked his death, and his answer was he didn't think so since there's no way Herb would have been able to keep quiet all these years.
  14. After seeing so many WWF/E produced tributes it was almost odd to me to see so much of his past acknowledged. From his indy stuff to pics from his WWE days (that were clearly given to them by people in WWE since most of them posted it on their Twitter pages), it was refreshing to see a tribute from a company with no weird hangups.
  15. It's real. When Priest won the NA title he celebrated in the hot tub, and H did the "take a pic with the new champ" deal right there.
  16. So per Tony on the post game show, they are making a new TNT title belt. The current one is being retired for Brodie.
  17. I never thought I would see the day that Erick Rowan would cause me to get emotional
  18. Steph may have all the social awareness of someone who grew up with Vince as a parent, but she's hardly the evil she-beast some corners of the internet try to portray her as. She's a mom of three kids who aren't too far off in age from Brodie's kids so she fully understands how tragic this is.
  19. I bet Vince is fuming so many WWE folks are tweeting about how they're going to watch AEW tonight.
  20. *throws papers in your face*
  21. Of all the people in wrestling media and its related offshoots to have a career altering meltdown in 2020, Bruce would have not been anywhere near the top of that list.
  22. A bright spot in all this was reading how his wife would stay at the tapings even though she was exhausted and needed sleep because of how much Brodie Jr loved being there. I love too how even people who only knew/worked with Brodie for a brief time felt like they knew him forever. It's a sign of how great he was a s a person to make everyone around him feel like they've been friends their own lives.
  23. Considering Dave mentioned he was talking to Tony Khan until 3am Jax time about ideas to honor Brodie for the show this week, I don't see him rushing to hire the guy trying to start conspiracy theories.
  24. I kinda hope the wife story is true just because I can't imagine someone would be dumb enough to think being stiff with Steve f'n Williams would end well for him.
  25. It was so typical WWE. At first it was awesome having Alexa call Randy out on his bullshit, and if they would have ended it there it would have been great. Instead they did the WWE thing of having segments like this last about 2 minutes too long and we got that stupid ass ending.
