The early Thunder episodes would actually have angle advancement, but man did that show fall off a cliff fast.
-
I would say the Backlund/Patterson match is pretty highly regarded.
-
So according to Wikipedia, Shane would have been around 6 years old when these shows started airing originally. I can only guess he was was the one who designed the patch Vince and Rocca are wearing on their sport coats.
-
Stan Hansen with long bleach blond hair is something I will never get used to.
-
I mean, this show is kind of geared toward those kind of fans. It's not like fans trying to hijack a WWE show to piss off the company, this show is more or less being put on for them.
-
"Thanks to the fans for making their voices heard!" after this tone-deaf, totally unforced error is a pretty strong contender too. That's wording and messages you would only devise if you've grown up hearing corporate-speak and the word "yes" for your entire life. Not to mention rumors that the whole name idea was Vince's idea and he's irate over this. I'm just waiting for the new backstage interview geek to be named "Bavey Dixenspan" and have a gimmick where everyone yells at him for causing problems for the company.

I am pretty confident in saying that Usos vs New Day is the best tag team rivalry of the modern era, maybe even more than the Smackdown Six era, and should be mentioned in the same breath as Rock N Roll vs Midnight Express. I was just thinking how not only have I never seen them have a bad match, I don't remember seeing them have one anything less than great.

You know, I always kind of gave Steph a pass for the 9/11 comments. Yeah it was stupid, but it was her dad being put on trial by the feds so I can see how she would feel personally attacked. This stuff is just being amazingly tone deaf and out of touch with current events.

Once it started getting attention (I think Bix's story on it was the top one at Deadspin yesterday) it was just a matter of time. It's frankly embarrassing that they felt they could get away with naming an event meant to showcase their women's roster after a known abuser in the age of #MeToo. At least we got "Moolah empowered women" to replace "charity is the new PR" as the go to Steph-sounding-like-a-clueless-idiot quote.
-
They already decided to remove her name from the Battle Royale.
-
It's already got more awareness than I would have thought, the Facebook comments are usually full of the "YAY CENA, ROMAN RULZ" type of fan and they are mostly anti Moolah. Funny thing, it's the same argument they used to keep Chyna out of their HOF: anyone who's able to do a Google search can find out the story. It's not like it requires the ability to navigate archaic pro graps newsgroups like it used to in order to find out salacious details like this.

Vince very well might want to, but he would never get rid of it after all the effort put into St. Stephonus of Women's Wrestling.
-
It seems like beyond all the negative responses across their social media platforms, this is getting attention on websites both wrestling related and otheriwse. I wonder how WWE will respond. Seems like based on their track record either they will just drop any mention of Moolah and pretend it never happened or they will double down and run an angle where the winner gets pimped out.
-
I don't mind the shooty stuff with Roman, but when you had Cena do the same thing later on it was like....enough with that already. The Alexa vs Nia stuff is great and I would expect the match to be excellent since there's nothing better than two people who are friends IRL not afraid to beat the shit out of each other to have a good match.
-
That line of thinking leading them to pick the one deceased person (on the female side) that could embarrass them the most is very WWE.
-
Back to TV matters, I get what they are trying to do but I'm not sure having Brock's gimmick be the guy who no shows TV is the best idea when you're angling to renew your TV deal that happens to be the backbone of your business plan.
-
I don't see why they didn't name it after Linda. She did a lot behind the scenes and was never portrayed as a heel. Yeah, she's in the administration now but she's so far down the list of things people would be mad about that I don't see it being a problem. Especially when Kid Rock is going in the HOF.
-
If I learned nothing else from all my years of reading Dave, it's that he's a stickler for accuracy when it comes to numbers to the point it sometimes comes off as an OCD tic. I have no doubt he will have the exact attendance down to the nearest butt cheek within a few days of the show no matter what it ends up being.
-
Probably "this is the most pro wrestling thing possible". At least Akbar was of Lebanese descent which was as close as you were going to get in those days to being culturally accurate.
-
The worst part of that Moolah video was seeing Steph talk about how she "empowered" women. Jesus Christ. Also there's a lot of thinkpieces out there on how Kid Rock was all about embracing blackness when he was coming up (always talking about having a kid with a black woman, sporting braids on the cover of his first album), and once he became a star he went country and went full MAGA. On top of everything else you can say about the guy, he's as phony as you can get.

What sucks is that if this ends up drawing say 8-9,000 instead of 10 it will be seen as a failure despite that being a ridiculous crowd for a non WWE wrestling show. Plus with the way Bullet Club fans buy up merch this will likely make tons of money for them off those sales alone no matter what the crowd size ends up being. Props for Cody and the Bucks setting lofty goals, but framing it as an all or nothing concept seems to run the risk of them not getting their just due for what is probably going to be a record setting indy crowd regardless of the final count.

Wrestler's Political Affiliations

Now that it's official, let me just state that there's nothing about Kid Rock that would indicate he wouldn't feel the need to go off script since he's the guy who sold shirts like these. -
So I wonder is Impact working with ROH now after the Aries deal last night? I suppose it makes sense since Don Callis is an executive there and does announcing still for New Japan, maybe ROH is playing ball with their partners?
-
If they weren't the first they had to be a close second. It does come off like they got a new toy and can't stop playing with it. Also I'm pretty sure Rocca is calling Vince "Junior" in his mangled English, everyone who worked with Vince Sr called him that and it's the reason VKM has PTSD about calling anyone a junior to this day.

Eddie certainly did damage to himself with non PED drug use, but he did have an enlarged heart from the stuff he did use for his job. I personally don't care if anyone in WWE is on enough steroids or HGH or whatever to choke a horse, but when the company goes around patting itself on the back for its Wellness Policy that is blatantly horseshit when they want it to be, they should get called out on it. "We care about the health of our performers" while you push guys who looks like they have a relief map of the Rockies on their backs. FOH with that.
