Well seeing how Vince is usually 10 years out of touch with culture, being only 4 years off the mark would actually be an improvement.

I'm guessing they'll have a match or two, do the women's one first, have a buffer match (that ironically used to be the women's match slot) before the men do theirs.

I'm kind of hoping for Romina Reigns to toss out all 29 other women to win now.

Well they can't have the champs on the card since the rest of the entire roster is in the Rumble, unless they steal the invisible opponent gimmick from Chikara or wherever it was. It's important to them in the sense it's a vehicle to make Steph look important. Which Vince has shown is his #1 priority (maybe only second to erasing the stain of the XFL failure from his record).

The funny part is that for as much as Vince craves being seen as more than just a rasslin' promoter, this might be his most carny move yet.

As weird as it would be for the men's match to open the Royal Rumble PPV, I can't see them doing all this (the announcement itself main evented Raw don't forget) and have the Princess at ringside just to have them jerk the curtain.
