  1. Seems like Taker's still going to be his opponent, since he called him out but said the match was impossible. In wrestling logic that means it's pretty much a lock. Plus the reaction to it from the crowd was pretty much the biggest pop of the night, so I don't see it not happening unless Taker decides at the last minute he can't go.
  2. No one has ever had more people want them to fail than Rousey. Even after she drew TV numbers for Strikeforce and PPV numbers for UFC, people were always trying to "yeah, but" her. Part of it for sure is how she seems to rub everyone the wrong way, but it's still something to see. Having her come in and state from the start she's a fan and she's always wanted to do this was smart, it dulls the potential fan backlash of her being another Brock coming in to do the rasslin for money. Her being moved to tears at the PPV may have been the first time she's ever allowed herself to display any emotion other than "kill, destroy", and wrestling fans always latch on to what is real (or at least believeable).
  3. In the course of one promo she went from marking out fangirl, to "wait, what?" when Kurt started stooging, to full MURDERDEATHKILL mode when Steph slapped her. For someone doing their first promo in front of a crowd it went as well as can be expected. The best part that hasn't been given enough love is after the slap and the crowd chanting "YOU FUCKED UP" was the look on Steph's face when she realized that she in fact has indeed fucked up. I'm sure it will be reconned in WWE history that it was the plan all along, but Steph getting her ass beat after all the years of her emasculating the talent will blow the roof off the Superdome.
  4. Tonight's card: Seems like a show that should have good matches but fairly predictable outcomes. The Road to Romanmania seems to be on a clear path (unless that guy in jail comes up with proof he sold stuff to him), and I suppose the only real suspense would be "they aren't stupid enough to have Nia end Asuka's streak, right?"
  5. Watching night one of Honor Rising and the Golden Lovers storyline is the best thing in wrestling by a large margin. To be fair, Cody's a big part of that being the shit stirrer of the Bullet Club and basically the cataylist for everything that happened, but everyone's been great in their roles. Even the Haku kids are great as the side not wanting to get involved in all this mess.
  6. I truly believe Dave doesn't understand the difference between "it is not technically illegal or wrong to do this" and "this is a dick thing to do if I do this". It's not the first time he's defended something by saying it wasn't wrong of him to do in a legal sense but wasn't cool in a decency sense.
  7. I know that was a typo but now I want to see Amber Rose in WWE teaming with Goldust.
  8. Austin coming out to help Mankind beat Rock for the WWF title on Raw in January 1999 was one of the largest single pops I've ever seen.
  9. I mean, it is pretty much the same as the Rock n Roll HOF when you think about it. You can be inducted multiple times as either solo or a group, and it's pretty much up to the person running it who gets in.
  10. I'll never understand why anyone would get upset over anyone being in/out of the WWE HOF. It was brought back to sell DVDs and now it exists for them to have another event on Mania weekend to sell tickets to.
  11. The meat of it was 2011-2015, I remember Jeff showing up on TNA tv with the AAA title but they had to cover it up because AAA has weird US TV rights.
  12. Well that's refreshing. He's still pretty outspoken politically, which is fine, but it's the exact thing WWE has been making a pointed effort to avoid.
  13. Jeff (and Karen) were having pretty entertaining times in AAA (hard to call a lot of what AAA does angles or matches sometimes) until his demons got him to the point that his "no condition to perform" was impossible to ignore.
  14. Dave was mentioning that the guy who was accusing Roman of buying steroids/HGH from him said he was going to be releasing some kind of proof backing up his claims. It almost looked like WWE was laying the groundwork in case they need to make changes.
  15. It will be interesting what's under the hood with this service. WWE Network was infamously bumpy for the first couple months when it launched despite being run by MLBAM, and this is going to be the only chance ROH will have to try to win back people who were burned by iPPV streams crashing,
  16. Mike Graham's only significant runs outside of places his dad ran was a couple of programs in the AWA over their light heavyweight title. His smug appearances on WWE 24/7 shows were always eyeroll-inducing, and they clearly were only putting up with him because they wanted the Florida footage for the vault.
  17. There weren't any plans other than Steam and the PS4 version that seems to have backing from New Japan, but the Steam version has been apparently well beyond their expectations so there's a greater than zero chance it could go to the Switch, Especially since indie games have found a real home there.
  18. Heel Lawler vs fans is always my favorite Lawler. Now I want to see Lawler vs Negro.
  19. I think Jarrett's another victim of Vince Russo really. He had a solid career going back to the Memphis days, and there was never a backlash against him until the end of WCW when Russo kept pushing him too hard. Even his time in TNA was probably the best of that promotion, he wasn't involved for most of the real LOLTNA stuff. Also I'm not sure I'd believe Bruce Pritchard's word since his gimmick these days seems to be "lovable bullshitter" no matter how much he plays the I-was-there card. Wasn't at least part of the reason him and his dad started TNA that he was persona-non-grata to WWE?
  20. He did basically fire Jarrett on live TV. I always got the impression he was mad at Jeff for standing up to him when he only accepted that kind of behavior from the very top level guys.
  21. Randy Orton seems to think mass shootings in schools happen because God isn't allowed in. Yeah, Also it should be interesting if the rumors are true and Kid Rock goes in to the celebrity wing of the WWE HOF this year. They've taken such steps to avoid any mention of politics in the Trump era yet they may be enshrining a guy considering a run for office.
  22. Chris Regal was the owner of TNA fan site TNAMecca that was known for insane rules where everything was built as a cult where you would get banned for questioning Regal's authority. At some point last year he "died" after a sudden illness then his "brother" that no one knew existed started posting. Everyone (save a few really dense Mecca posters) knew he was faking and I guess this Abbey business prompted him to fess up.
  23. To be fair, hashtag resistance does make more sense when the person in charge tweets more than a 13 year old girl.
  24. Kids these days don't know how to space out their scams, Chris Regal was just last year.
  25. Both WWE and New Japan balked on Riddle due to his past drug test failures and his pro-pot stance.
