Bryan announced on the last B&V show that they are going to start moderating the BOARD~! in a few weeks. This has potential for epic hilarity as the gimmick posters are already starting to rebel. Also re: the Weider news, I hope someone is keeping an eye on Triple H in this traumatic times.

Not denying he has a blind spot for the Rock, but if you look back it seemed Dave largely threw his hands up when it comes to drug testing in the mid 2000s when it was clear guys were never going to stop doing them. Reading his stuff during the 90s, he comes off as someone ready to grab the torches and get the mob headed toward Stanford. By the time the umpteenth 90s guy died from a drug related death, he was basically "fuck it, nothing's ever going to change".

Wrestling company tries to ape one of the biggest angles ever, film at 11. I mean, at least they're trying to copy good angles now, Russo era TNA was filled with them rehashing every shit 90s WWF storyline. I didn't have a problem with it, people were throwing trash in the ring, so at least it got a reaction. It would have been really embarrassing had they done all that and no one reacted at all. Bully as a babyface trying hard to suck up to Hogan wasn't doing it for me, so anything to get him back heel is OK in my book.

It should be noted the theory Watts pushes is the one that absolves him of any blame.

Loss said it best, the oil situation put a dent in their business but it's something they could have bounced back from had they given the fans something compelling.
-
Perhaps they remove all censoring of the term "WWF"?

Vince really wanted the Von Erichs, Kevin even made appearances in MSG around that time. I wonder how much that was because the promoter was their dad (tying in to the previously mentioned issues Vince may or may not have).

The thing about everyone trying to piece together what Chris was thinking is that it's hard to take into account how swiss-cheesed his brain was. Here in Pittsburgh we've had a few former Steeler players die from concussion related events. One flipped out and got into a high speed chase/shootout with the cops, and Hall of Fame center Mike Webster ended up homeless with dementia and depression due to concussion related CTE. Benoit's co-workers seem to want to quickly dismiss it because he was able to make flights and work matches, but anyone who's ever had a family member with Alzheimer's or dementia knows there's a long period of time when the person is still functional. At least there was a positive in what happened, all the research done in concussions and brain injuries was largely sparked by what happened that weekend. Showing the consequences from years worth of head trauma finally got some real science done on the subject, and perhaps a larger tragedy was avoided because of what we know now.

I half expect the HOF show to break down into a posedown between Bruno, Vince, and HHH.

Not to disagree with your main premise, but that was probably the best figure four Miz has done tonight.

To a degree, this is true. However opinons can be patently false, and if someone has the opinion Tiger Chung Lee is the greatest wrestler ever (using an exaggerated example to make a point of course) it doesn't mean people can't point out the clear flaws in that argument.

This was in 1996. Flair was driven home by a girl from a party, apparently not aware she was underage. They were pulled over, and she was underage and drunk herself. How can someone not know a girl is 14 years old. How can a 14 year old possibly look overage? It makes it sound like you're defending peods when you say it, but if you ever go anywhere teenagers congregate you'll see lots of girls who dress/act a lot older than they are.

I don't get why people get upset when they put someone in the celebrity wing, at least Trump actually played a role in a huge buyrate. That puts him ahead of a lot of the non celebrity wing entrants actually.

I wouldn't be shocked if Taker shows up at Mania suddenly looking defined. I'm not saying like Rock levels, but I don't see someone so obsessed with protecting their gimmick showing up to the big show looking tubby. One of the photos from the house show was of him doing Old School so he must be feeling good enough to be jumping off the top rope. I was under the impression the main reason for his current body shape was that he got his shoulder repaired finally and couldn't work his upper body until it healed. Also I'm surprised Glenn Beck didn't take the bait WWE left for him. While I've been convinced for a while his nutty TV meltdowns were worked, he seemed like a guy who's easy to goad into doing something if you press the right buttons.

If he was actually stoned while driving, then fuck him since he could have killed other people. If he just had a baggie and a pipe in his car when he got pulled over for speeding, while still a dumb thing, isn't something he should have his career ended over.
-
Just because he was charged with DUI doesn't mean he was actually high at the time he was arrested. In most states if you're stopped with paraphernalia you get charged with DUI since it's not like booze where they can do a breath test to see if you're drunk or not.

I'm starting to think the whole Colter/Swagger angle is just Vince trolling the right for not supporting Linda more in her election attempts. You could tell by the way Cole was name dropping right wing talking heads like Rush/Beck/Alex Jones that Vince was making sure that point got across.
-
So the people at infowars are apparently upset at the Zeb Colter angle, there's a joke to be made about Alex Jones fans not being smartened up for sure.

Cesaro strikes me as a modern take on the Rougeau Brothers "foreign heels pretend to love America" gimmick. Not that it's a bad thing, mind you, it's just what comes to mind when he comes out waving a big US flag. I like the character of Zeb, it just seems out of place in a company that markets toward kids to have a heel manager who's political. Not to mention in some cities, his DEY TERK OUR JERBS act might end up getting them over as faces.

I like Dirty Dutch as much as anyone else, but I think it's blinding people to the fact his Teabagger gimmick is going over the heads of WWE's current audience and no one seems to care. I guess there's still time to get it over, but all the Dutch love in the universe won't hide the fact his State of the Union speech played to crickets tonight.

The guy from Houston (drawing a blank on the name) who did an interview with Meltzer pretty much shot this down by saying it was just the end of the territories and the oil crisis at best maybe shaved a year or two off the inevitable. You figure that was around 1986-1987, it was pretty clear how things were going to go down for anyone not the WWF by that point.

Wasn't that also the reason Randy Savage started wearing the full bodysuit in the 90s? I recall it being stated he wore that to hide his smaller build because he got off the gas to have a kid with Liz.

So I read on the luchablog how Namajague got dropped on his head on a botched Spanish Fly and got hurt. The match aired on TV this week, and it was one of the more alarming things I've seen. The bump wasn't just a blown spot, but a total "holy shit, I think that guy might be dead" botch. Not only that, but Rey Cometa kept picking him up and doing more spots despite his opponent clearly being out on his feet for half of them. I don't expect Mexico to be up to date on head trauma safety issues (no one outside the US seems to be too concerned it seems), but you'd think it would be a clue when the guy you're trying to pick up to do moves on is a sack of potatoes.

I would assume Foley was the backup plan as the HOF "main event" if Bruno hadn't agreed, but now with the group they have now (and they aren't done for this year yet) they've kind of shot their load for a while with top level entries. The only top level guy left it seems would be Edge since Rock's going to probably be around to some extent for another year or so probably. *edit* lol, brain cramp on my part forgetting Edge was already inducted. Who else do they have left who would qualify for a big name?

Not only did I love his video, but Lawler saying the most diplomatic version of "about fucking time" ever afterwards was awesome too.
