  1. From today's WO update: Jesus Christ. Maybe people in the undercard don't give a shit because the writers only care about the main eventers and everyone else is left to flail about aimlessly? Then in the next sentence praising Santino, who's act has grown amazingly stale in the last few months?
  2. Another Scooter gem is in his recaps of the October 1997 Raws from WWE 24/7, he's now pointing out every instance of how Bret was being "buried" leading up to You Know What. I mean, it's not as if Vince was in the midst of trying to wiggle out of the 20 year contract he agreed on or anything. Oh yeah, he totally was.
  3. Did JBL sodomize him with a Wii remote or something? What's his thing about video games? It seems to go way beyond the typical "old person doesn't understand video games" thing and its almost like a personal vendetta.
  4. Fuse is also carried by Comcast, although I don't think anyone who has it knows they do.
  5. I'm sure Bruno has some idea, he still lives around here and Angle's DUI was a top story on all the Pittsburgh news stations/papers.
  6. To be fair, if they were going to use the same scaffold setup they used for the MX-Road Warriors match I would understand completely. The first time I watched that match I spent the whole time wondering if the scaffold was going to fall down mid-match.
  7. Well of course they didn't owe anyone, but scaffold matches (at least every one I've seen) always had the big bump be as controlled as possible. As long as you don't land feet-first there should be minimal risk for someone trained to take a bump.
  8. Anyone else think the Powers of Pain quitting over a scaffold match was kind of a pussy move? I mean, sure there's danger involved but the only injury I ever heard about from one was Jim Cornette, and even that was because Bubba missed catching him.
  9. Man, WWE DVDs certainly hit the wall didn't they? I know that not every release can be a winner, but a 3 disc best of Kane set? A Legends set that will probably be the episodes that run on 24/7 with some sort of bridging? Not to mention they stopped doing the awesome documentary + extra disc or two full of matches format and replaced it with random people offering brief comments between matches. Sets like the Jake Roberts and Dusty Rhodes were made significantly better by their respective documentaries, and now watching a WWE DVD set it just screams "here's some shit we threw together, enjoy".
  10. Maybe he didn't sell enough for HBK's chair attacks the other week.
  11. I'd like to know why he did that ridiculous NBC show "exposing" the business. I mean, I guess he can say he worked them since all it did was reveal things like the infamous STUNT GRANNY~!, but still it was pretty embarrassing.
  12. I figured being a HBK trainee would spare him, guess not. I guess he'll be on the next TNA PPV doing shoot promos wishing he was still in WWE now.
  13. Yeah I'm not doubting anabolics have some positive uses, just like I take medication with pseudophedrine to be able to breathe properly, but I don't go around saying that means there should be no restrictions on it just because I get positive benefits. People like Cena who are college educated in this shit shouldn't go around sounding like the typical meathead that thinks it should be legal for him to mainline as many roids as possible because he knows how to cycle properly. Obviously when you're too pro- one side or the other you lose perspective, but there's enough anecdotal and proven evidence out there to get past the whole "maaaaaaaan, people just don't understand" argument.
  14. Come the fuck on, steroids fight HIV now? Someone really needs to tell Cena that the "golly, if only people knew the good side of steroids" gimmick isn't working.
  15. I guess it's one of those "Japan is weird" things, but didn't a lot of their women wrestlers do like softcore photo shoots? I seem to remember "photo sets" of women wrestlers being wank material for a time amongst the Purophile set.
  16. No one's saying his basic premise is wrong, it's just that the idea of listening to two young guys talk about their newfangled technology prompted to to grump like and old man is hilarious. Grump on his blog, which is on that internet thing that's always full of lies and people who were NEVER IN TEH BIZ ranting about things they don't know about.
  17. After reading Raven's contract, I want to see WWE's lawyers try to explain how the wrestlers are independent contractors but they go out of their way to specify companies even affiliated with Turner Broadcasting in the non compete portion.
  18. I say IWA-MS is the worst. I mean, they're awesome in a carny sense but horrible in a non-drawing shitty wrestling sense.
  19. I'm guessing maybe its because 1988 was right around the time of the whole Ryan White thing and AIDS was a big topic of public discussion? Also I don't know if its a local rivalry thing since Dave is in (I think) San Jose, but he never misses a chance to point out Brutus's kayfabe hometown was a rib on San Francisco.
  20. So why would the family pressure Tama to quit because of Sika being let go? I always felt it was kind of cheapening the legacy of the Wild Samoans to have Sika out there as a jobber for quite a while longer than he should have. It was kind of embarrassing for a while to see him out there like an ethnic Steve Lombardi.
  21. Yeah, and what also seems to be somewhat telling is instead of their response being the legal equivalent of "these dudes are full of shit" it's more "these guys didn't follow the proper protocol to file their case" instead.
  22. Also about the Stampede thing, the 1988 NHL finals featured Wayne Gretzky and the Edmonton Oilers finishing up their dynasty by winning the Stanley Cup, so there's no way anyone in Canada was going to be watching anything else.
  23. Pillman was part of the main heel faction at the time of his death and also was involved in an angle with Goldust that was also pretty major. He wasn't a main eventer, but it would hardly be the equivalent of Snitsky today.
  24. So the latest episode of RAW is the Brian Pillman Tribute show, and man does it show how much times have changed. It starts with the announcement of Pillman's death and the 10 bell salute, and the very next segment is the infamous HBK/HHH skit that gave birth to the Degeneration X name. It then leads into Jim Cornette doing a shoot promo on WCW and the nWo, and of course the Melanie Pillman interview which is still the most uncomfortable TV moment ever. They of course would learn through experience to devote the whole show to the guy who died. Also it's kind of creepy that the show is in Kemper Arena and seeing Owen on stage as part of the Pillman tribute.
  25. You know, there probably is some questionable things going on in general re: the WWE and the Stamford PD. Lord knows the things they probably had to sweep under the rug. Having said that, this whole project of Irv's is turning into You're Doing It Wrong: The Book.
