  1. IMO it seems like Dave is carrying a bit of guilt over Pillman's death still, he seems to think he could have done more to convince him to stop wrestling when he was in bad shape towards the end. As such, he is still super sensitive about anything regarding him, especially what was written in Ring of Hell.
  2. They were going to have Taker's streak with a bullshit finish like that? Not saying that wasn't the plan, but what an underwhelming end to the streak that would have been.
  3. Heyman is also a master of always making sure he has something to fall back on, so while he has nothing but nice things to say about Stephanie now, I have no reason to believe the two could work together in any aspect for any length of time. I'm also fairly sure they parted on good terms specifically because they both knew they wouldn't have to deal with each other anymore. Vince is a smart guy, he knows Heyman is good when it comes to the verbal aspect of the game. Putting him in roles that take advantage of that is hardly a sign of respect. I think it's more Vince wanting to be the boss of guys who used to be his competition, and once that starts to lose its appeal and/or be a headache he no longer has any use for them. One of the excuses given for the original ECW going under was Heyman refusing to give up any control to allow someone to help him run things, that doesn't seem like the kind of personality type that would respond well to having extreme Alpha types like Vince and Steph as bosses. It does seem like all three of them realize that, which would explain why everyone seems to be respectful towards each other now that enough of a cooling off period has gone on since Heyman's dismissal.
  4. I don't think there was ever any intent to give Joe the Umaga gimmick. There was a desire from I'd guess Vince to hire Joe and job him out in one of those "see how the other guy's talent can't hang in WWE with the big boys" deals, but Joe knew that's what they wanted to do and passed. Umaga made his debut afterward and dummies on the net were all "OMG JOE WUZ GONNA BE UMAGA~!" It should also be noted that the December to Dismember fiasco is like a living testament to Stupak's portrayal of the creative staff's intense hard-on against Heyman. They gutted the show and rewrote practically every and anything that had his fingerprint on it and ended up with a turd of a PPV that ended up running too short.
  5. So basically people are mad that guys went out to hype a book written by an e-friend of theirs. Do these people also go on the internet and complain that a movie or video game wasn't as good as the trailers/commericals because I'm pretty sure that happens too. Sure, you can say that the hype for this book was a bit excessive but there's little doubt (for me at least) that without them doing what they did no one would have even known this book was released.
  6. Good question. I caught a bit of RAW last night, including her announcing next week's Slammy Awards matches, and she seems to want to be Sarah Palin these days. Oh man, can you imagine that? Next week on RAW we get to meet Steph's "Downs baby" which will turn out to be Big Dick Johnson dressed as an adult baby.
  7. I don't know about Meltzer rather seeing Daniel die than the business, but of all the things to take issue with he sure did seem to be most upset about how Pillman was portrayed rather than say, the guy who murdered his family. Also, I agree with Dylan. It's not that the book is a perfectly written masterpiece but a LOT of people are upset over someone breaking "internet kayfabe" if you will and actually admitting wrestling is a scummy profession.
  8. Semi off topic, but I love how JR is the only guy who tries to keep kayfabe on those Legends roundtable shows. A good drinking game would be to take a shot every time he uses the term "antagonist" instead of heel or even just bad guy.
  9. That and a little of "that other book is out of print so I see nothing wrong with basically selling it again with a different cover". My wife reads romance novels and they literally will release the same books every 5 years with different covers to the point where she checks the copyright date on "new" books to make sure they aren't reprints. Scooter's take on publishing seems very similar.
  10. Did they ask him about Vince offering Harley Race a huge payoff to no show the first Starrcade? They tried to get Flair to talk about it on the latest Legends Roundtable and he acted like a mob boss not wanting to betray confidences.
  11. Kennedy not being able to coherently explain the plot of the movie he's starring in has to be a late contender for the most embarrassing moment of 2008.
  12. I'm pretty sure Bret told the "everyone does their finish on Vince" story in his HOF speech.
  13. I guess Vince's obsession with mainstream acceptance is contagious. It's like no one in the business has any idea why people in other sports/fields of entertainment would look down on them.
  14. Well then what about the period where Jericho's catchphrase was calling Steph a bottom feeding skanky trashbag ho?
  15. lolololol take that u fat biatch!!!!!  There was a time when Hunter's wife wasn't looking so svelte on TV. I don't recall anyone making light of that. The Rock and Jericho both made jokes about Steph's appearance quite often. "LET THE BOOBIES HIT THE FLOOR" anyone?
  16. I know all that, I'm just saying Keith makes it sound like Bret was somehow the first person in history to experience such a thing.
  17. Has he been on the payroll all this time? Checking Wikipedia (I know...) it states he's been a road agent all this time, which is news to me.
  18. At the risk of rehashing the entire Montreal debate again, Scooter's still an unabashed Hitman fanboy and still refuses to even consider the possibility that maybe Bret wasn't completely blameless in the whole affair. Also him pointing to everything as proof of a burial on RAW makes him seem clueless to the fact that Bret was a heel (maybe not to him but to the rest of the world - Canada) and DX was the new face group catching fire. If the WWF would have booked the heel to get the better of the up and coming face group, Keith would have bitched about that had it involved different participants.
  19. Those were people who worked for his father though. Has there been anyone with a job for life post Vince Sr? (in before the inevitable Bob Holly jokes)
  20. She was involved in pretty much every program Edge was in last year, she wasn't the sole reason anything drew or didn't draw of course but anything that adds to the heat of an angle helps increase the drawing power. Seriously, she's been such a key part of Smackdown that saying she should be banished from TV smacks of stereotypical internet wrestling fan misogyny.
  21. Well he does make a case on that WO link that's a little less crazy but he seems to be assuming a lot of things not in evidence: 1. He wonders why the police didn't press further for any possible WWE connections to the kid, which kind of makes sense if you're investigating a double murder and the person you're interviewing lives in the same town as the HQ of the company that employed the murderer. Especially considering the kid's dad works for the city. 2. He seems hung up on the fact that another one of the edits he made was removing a racial slur from Chavo's page. I guess if you're considering the Nancy edit a one in a million coincidence, the odds of him editing another person involved in the story seems quite remote. Still, if this kid was the typical internet wrestling fan it wouldn't be unheard of for him to run to the defense of a Guerrero. 3. The fact that he had to threaten a lawsuit to get the police to release the tape that is public record really seems to be the only thing he has a legit point on. He seems to be under the impression Stamford is nothing more than a company town for WWE and Boss Vince makes the rules, but it seems more like the PD not wanting some nut to post the tape on the internet in an attempt to embarrass them.
  22. Right, Vicki's been getting the most heel heat of anyone not named McMahon in a decade at least. The only thing I don't get is how they keep coming up with ways to keep her in the wheelchair I guess because they think it hides her weight (it doesn't). Plus she has credibility that Adamle didn't from being part of one of the most famous wrestling families.
  23. I thought Adamle was getting into a good groove as GM, but he was never going to be able to overcome his Shockmaster-like intro to the business. What's funny is the angle with Steph and Shane seems to be designed to make Shane look like a sap not unlike the dearly departed Adamle. The whole "Steph undermines everything Shane does in an attempt to get the company all to herself" seems to be another step towards her becoming an eerie female clone of her own father.
  24. My point is that no one in the mid card is pushed seriously, that's why WWE has such a hard time getting new main eventers over. I'm not saying everything has to be SERIOUS~! but it's hard to create new stars when everyone gets cut off at the knees right out of the box constantly.
  25. You're right, but he's still stale. He can be funny, but he's been relegated to the comedy ghetto where he'll get banana peel wins but for the most part is not taken seriously. There's no reason for the fans to care about anything he does.
