  1. I get it, but if they are going to start inducting matches that kinda has to be one of them.

I think ol' Cope is about to get Stinged by FTR.

IMO Big Bob has the aura of someone who should be a megastar, but for some reason he's just....not.

Mercedes and Athena is another banger on the horizon. Also say what you will about Tony S, sometimes it blows my mind that the guy who used to do the rundown of upcoming JCP shows when I was a kid is now doing the rundown of upcoming AEW shows to adult me.

Ironically, Sting never lost but in the process he still managed to put over Darby huge in the process. Plus he was so beloved in his last run the crowd probably would have revolted if he had lost.

The tricky part about going up against the company that had a 20+ year monopoly is that anyone you bring in who'd be famous enough to make a difference ratings wise are going to be old WWE guys to some extent. AEW is past the point where bringing in a top name indy star is going to immediately make a difference. It gives AEW some credibility with casual fans by showing they are big time enough to get some well known people from the "big company" to jump ship even if they were a little past their sell by date. Most of us were around to see WCW do the same thing back in the day. Their biggest angle, one of the biggest in history, that shot them to the moon was literally 3 guys famous from WWE beating up the homegrown guys. In AEW's case they've mostly used them help the young guys and didn't fall into the WCW/TNA trap of letting the old guys take over the booking.

Usually when they do this "everyone knows who's under the mask" bit it's the babyface who lost a loser leaves town match. like Stagger Lee or the Yellow Dog. Having the twist be it's all the babyfaces who are all "come on, we know who this really is" is at least something different. Also anything that gets us Chad Gable vs Dragon Lee is golden in my book
  8. In terms of the family I mean. I'm sure they were aware of his feelings towards WWE (which lets be honest, in that context just means Vince).

Watching Heyman during Roman's promo made me realize what an unforced error it is that WB never cast him as the Penguin in their cinematic Batman universe. He has the best "villain face" I've ever seen.

Seth coming out to confront the man who just admitted to trying to kill him dressed in what looked like quilted pajamas absolutely floored me.

I saw some people expecting Cena to come our with a switched up look to go along with his new heel status, which of course didn't happen. Naomi, on the other hand. My goodness.
  12. Hunter has done miracle level work in the past smoothing out beefs so I wouldn't be surprised if that happened here as well.

I think Swerve wins at Dynasty, it would be booking malpractice not to put the title on him at this point. No one is currently anywhere near the level he is at "top guy" -ness and as stated Mox is past his expiration date in this angle.

Stephanie Vaquer has come out and said when she signed they asked if she wanted to be on the main roster or NXT. She said the main roster initially but then realized it would probably be easier to be in NXT while adjusting to life in a new country and getting familiar with a new style.

Yeah, you can look at some people in NXT and see that they could use some more seasoning but I don't know what more Trick can do at this point. I also wonder about someone like Jacy Jane, who in all her time in NXT has gone from the Arn of one group to the Flair of another similar group. Instead of it coming off as a promotion of sorts it just looks like she's been treading water for years.

Indeed, my main takeaway from the show was that I really want to visit Brussels now.

So NXT is going to be interesting in the next month or so, assuming we get our usual post Mania call ups. Roxanne is like 2/3rds of the way on the main roster as it is, and you would think Trick should be getting the call as well. They are leading up to Oba vs Trick at Stand & Deliver, which seems to set up the NXT tradition of a top guy getting a proper send off on their way out.

To be fair, if anyone deserves to lose their shit over the fans, it would be Cena considering he had to deal with half the crowd booing him for decades.

I hate how great Logan Paul is at wrestling. Dude is the answer to the question of what a wrestling heel would be in real life.

Mox wants to be American Onita, right down to using Wild Thing as his music pre-Death Riders. The guy's practically his role model.
  24. What makes a great heel turn is having people get invested in characters so when they turn it causes an instant emotional reaction. That's where the Vince Russo types fall short, when they rapid fire turns no one gives a shit because you never gave them a reason to. I think that's why the Cena turn specifically hit so many people, say what you will about all the Super Cena stuff everyone had feelings about him one way or another. Add in the fact that no one on the planet thought he would ever turn heel on his farewell tour, and you have all the ingredients of a all time angle.
  25. I think once the shock of "holy shit, a top level WWE guy jumped ship" wore off, people started remembering how the end of that WWE stint went.
