Von Erichs in a Texas stadium show in 2025, time really is a flat circle brothers.
-
A Madison Rayne appearance on the pre show, always good to see.
-
Yeah short of some kind of disaster like an injury happening, Mercedes and Toni are too good to have a bad match.
-
There are certainly a lot, but my main issue is when they do a multi person match and one of the folks are clearly in there to eat the pin. It just telegraphs the whole thing and you're just counting down the time until they do the job.

Yes, Vince always had a thing about the announcers looking too old. Its why he never wanted to go back to doing commentary other than that one-off he did with Jesse . He never seemed to care that the younger folks who he put in their place were a detriment to the business because they had little to no knowledge of wrestling. Going to the WWF pretty much ended Terry Taylor's in ring career but it got him a behind the scenes job that continues to this day so it ended up working out for him eventually.

Wasn't expecting a Keji Muto appearance in a video on NXT, that was neat.

Since ROH is basically their NXT, they should tape it like NXT as well. Have them do their weekly show at like Daily's Place or some other smaller venue they can make their home base and have their big PLE type shows in the cities AEW is having theirs in. Have it look like a modern version of 2000s ROH, which shouldn't be difficult since Danielson probably wouldn't be able to resist showing up occasionally. It would give ROH its own look and feel and not just "we're at the same venue Dynamite was in but it looks sadder".

OK, El Grande Americano has gone all the way from stupid to a German guy pretending to be an American guy pretending to be a Mexican guy. Also the company that bought AAA doing a bit where it's someone obviously different playing a masked character but the announcers are calling it bullshit is just *chef's kiss*.

I don't get the hate for the Hurt Business. I mean, I do to some extent, but they are over with the crowd and Shelton is getting his long overdue respect from a major company. I get it they're ex WWE guys in their 40s and that is anathema to the very soul of AEW, but......it's kinda working though? I'm actually not happy with them putting MJF in the group and having him geek up the place. It was funny when he was begging to join and they kept clowning him, but now that he's in the group he's got Jericho at his vortex-worst go away heat with me.

The show is actually in Atlanta, which kinda got lost in GOLDBERGMANIA running wild.
-
Some things have, yet we still have folks who get injured in angles going to "medical facilities". There were a couple times in the HHH Era where they dropped a few "hospital"s but it's one weird linguistic quirk that still survives.
-
Wild that we get Okada vs Ibushi as a Dynamite main event.
-
Just noticed the belt design for the new unified International/Continental title looks a lot like the original design for the women's title.

That opening segment was good shit, Hangman/Mox was going to be amazing anyway and Texas Death just allows all the craziness to go to 11.
-
Two things occurred to me watching the Ricky Saints/Ethan Page segment: 1. I totally forgot Ricky was in NXT, so that tells you how well this is working for him. 2. Page's group of douchebro guys from Evolve are already looking like they could be money one day.

Also as someone who grew up on JCP and saw about a million commercials for the VHS of this show, finally getting to see this show is a personal holy grail.
-
It is, but it made me wonder why they don't ever promote this stuff like....at all. Cody is the so called QB1 of WWE but they can't ever say "wanna see his dad in action and find out why he's so great? check out the vault on youtube!". This company is such a big fan of multi generation wrestlers, then act like they were all hatched from an egg.

Rush actually has been around recently with Dralistico and Mortos as Los Ingobernales again, he wasn't on the last few TVs since he's on CMLL's banned list and there was no chance he could get on the Arena Mexico show (CMLL did do TK a solid and allow Mortos to appear for the first time in 14 years tho).

Similar to our discussion about Jade, Lyra just isn't working. She's good in the ring, but she has the personality of dry toast. Maybe she would be better as a heel? Certainly couldn't be any worse at this point
-
Is it me or does it seem like she's getting noticeably worse as she goes? Was AEW that much better at hiding her shortcomings, because she went from someone who looked green but with the possibility of becoming something to looking like she had to relearn how to walk properly. I know they did the angle with Naomi partially to cover for a real injury (and also allegedly because Shayna Bazler wanted to beat her ass), is that possibly the reason she's deteriorated so fast?
-
Apparently they are going to spell it "Tala Tonga", I guess Talla was too on the nose for the 6'8 guy. Still better than Hikuleo. Fits better with his brothers' names this way. Also I guess people are mad about Fatu losing, but Solo needed a win and it took 3 other people helping so it's not like Jacob got made to look like a geek or anything. .....and yes, Jade is just absolute trash in the ring. I get WWE wants to get something out of their investment since after Cody she was the first big AEW star to jump but it's just not working. If they try a title run with her I'm almost certain at this point it's going to get rejected by the fans.

Bucks vs Ospreay/Swerve at All In? Don't mind if I do!
-
It took Mercedes a long time to get rolling after her injury (understandable since apparently it was pretty gnarly), but she's closed the gap pretty quickly in this build. I would say Toni is still the clear ace of the women, and possibly all of AEW honestly, and knowing how TK books I would assume the whole belt collector gimmick Mercedes is doing is to set up her losing to Toni at the big show
-
I'm sure Punk got an ungodly amount of money when he came back, since WWE wanted to stick it to AEW so he probably doesn't care about looking bad at this point.
-
Man, Jade is still really rough in the ring.
