  1. I guess I'm in the minority, but I thought the Schultz episode was one of the series' weakest offerings. The bullshit detectors were on high alert for every single person featured in the episode. After watching it, YouTube recommended the Morton Downey jr. episode with Schultz, Jim Wilson, Thunderbolt Patterson, Lou Albano and others centered around the "real vs. fake" debate. That was headache inducing stuff.
  2. I'm looking forward to the Bravo episode too. I know Bravo married into the Cotroni family, could be an accidentally great expose on the Bonnano/Cortoni alliance.
  3. That's one of the more "wrestling bubble " things I've read in a while. You don't think that happens in any other section of journalism ? Every source is pushing an agenda from their point of view. WRT to Dave, he's sloppy as hell but has the advantage of being the only worthwhile fish in a pond small enough to be a puddle.
  4. So if a knucklehead in your own family does something stupid, you personally will be on the hook for it? Good to know.
  5. Exactly. Arn and Tully pinballing around for the Stallions doesn't make you go "Wow, I wonder if they could beat Demolition for the titles", it makes you think "Geez, they barely beat those guys that never win". Vince had eyes on Jake being a top heel. Having him give too much (especially early on) only makes you think "wow, that guy with the snake sure gets beat up a lot". Flair stooging for George South for 15 minutes doesn't make South look better, it makes Flair look worse.
  6. And they were both right.
  7. Hey, that's abusive. I expected better from an enlightened soul like yourself.
  8. Any instance of domestic abuse is abhorrent. That said, Bix is pretty much the wikipedia definition of an internet white knight and anything he says should be viewed through that prism.
  9. Are we sure Dave isn't being sarcastic?
  10. Dave Meltzer understands professional wrestling. Dave Meltzer does not understand real life.
  11. What a vile story.
  12. The Bischoff to Russo comparison is just silly. It seems to stem from Eric's dislike of Missy Hyatt, which founded or unfounded, has caused him to say some rather acidic things. Is there........ anything else?
  13. I have a feeling that we may see more of the "big name's big year" episodes as the show possibly winds down.
  14. Apparently only the Brody episode is non geo-blocked for my region on the viceland site. Any idea how I can watch these?
  15. Hopefully this will finally convince the brass that fans shouldn't be at these things.
  16. I'm curious about how the author of Pillman's book would respond to the Pillman episode. I know he posts here and always seemed like a reasonable guy. Like most things in life, I think the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Relying on workers for information always means you're getting worked, while on the other hand Bischoff's pride won't allow him to admit certain mistakes.
  17. I think Sable unquestionably gets a bad rap. She was just a valet, and did well in that role. She got super over to the point where the company felt they had to do more with her. She's the equivalent of someone who's good at their job then keeps getting promoted until they're in way over their head.
  18. It was cool, in as far that Gorilla in his heyday in the ring could be seen as a 60's-70's version of Vader. A big guy but technically sound. This may not be a popular opinion, especially now, but I think what happened to him in the WWF was as much his own doing as it was theirs. He was getting older, and their repeated requests to him to lose weight weren't without merit. That said, they could have done a better job of protecting him and using him better in some instances. Overall, it's just really weird that he was there in the first place. He couldn't have lost as much face in Japan for doing jobs to Hogan and the Orndorff incident, then he might have when he signed with WCW's competition. Vader said on Austins Podcast that he was injured. The suspension bought him recovery time but he still wasnt healed by Wrestlemania XII. That's interesting because I seem to remember in his RF shoot he complained that they took him off TV right after the hottest angle he was in (being the Monsoon attack)
  19. I don't think it's exclusive to wrestling. Half of the sports pages are dedicated to contract negotiations, locker room gossip and the like.
  20. He always seemed to be an alright guy, if not a little obsessed. However he is a textbook example of not patterning your life after a wrestler like he seemed to do with Benoit, and then...well.....let's just say he didn't handle it well. Ah… RE…. "There's no point in sex. You can't win." Not sure of the context of that one, but he may have been quoting a Norm MacDonald bit.
  21. I enjoyed it, I've always enjoyed Bischoff's perspective because he's not someone entrenched in the rasslin way of thinking. It was really interesting hearing how the Turner legal hierarchy worked around the time of the WWF-WCW suit. He's got a good head for business and a knack for production, I'm looking forward to hearing more.
  22. I think he's fairly credible, and has provided a lot of insight into WWF office decisions. That said, he is a bit of a bullshitter, and as stated it's pretty easy to tell when he's doing it. I think that what Meltzer thinks is a separate issue. I tend to think that it's easier for Dave to say that Bruce, Bischoff or whoever are running a gimmick rather than admit he's wrong a fairly decent percentage of the time.
  23. what od you mean He blew the gimmick.
  24. If people are willing to believe they would inflate the number to seem more important, why wouldn't they believe that they would deflate the number to potentially save money on taxes? They weren't a public company at the time, so I could see internal financials being a little murky.
  25. Fall Brawl itself didn't bother me. I can see how the botched aftermath would be annoying. But the initial turn worked in my opinion. Hennig and Flair had a lot of history, and Hennig stringing Flair along and then "out-Naitching the Naitch" was a good story. Had it led to a Hennig-Flair blowoff at Starrcade, it would be remembered a lot more fondly As for the initial question, Katie Vick. It's an obvious one but it's true. I was a lifelong fan until then. I still watch the older stuff, but I haven't watched an entire show since.
