That was the grossest, sickest, most bad ass powerbomb I have ever seen in over thirty years of watching wrestling. Holy fuck, Keith Lee is a STAR.
-
The booking of this show has been next level awful.
-
It's a thin line between having to determine what's kayfabe & what's not. Obviously most of Becky's tweets are a work & what Corey was saying wasn't but it'd be a hard line to walk if they tried to punish Corey over his tweet. Some would argue that one of Becky's strong suits is her Twitter game.
-
Then they have to suspend a lot of their roster, including Seth Rollins and most of the women.
-
You can tell Cole is getting the uber nuts push because even after dying in Wargames last night he still gets to kick out of Dunne's finish.
-
This match has been laid out horribly. Rhea just won a damn 4 on 2 Wargames match yesterday and she's acting like she's scared to get in the ring with Nattie & Sasha? What the hell was that?
-
Yeah, he's an overly sensitive geek too. Remember when he got drunk & was sub-tweeting CM Punk on Twitter? He's guilty too.
-
I... am not a fan of this match format. 5v5v5 with one from each team in the ring at all times & anyone can tag a teammate at any time. It's a giant clusterfuck. Carmella outlasting Io... lol

I can't imagine trying to eat healthy while living on the road. To be fair, I can't imagine that lifestyle in general. Just the whole having to make towns, find gyms, get rental cars, etc. seems exhausting let alone having to actually work while doing all of that mundane shit too. Then you factor in that you're constantly banged up, tired, hounded by fans... I wouldn't want to then go to a restaurant and just eat chicken breast & steamed broccoli either!

Ivar looks like he's getting bigger. With Keith Lee waiting in the weeds, I hope his weight doesn't get out of control. I like him & think he has a ton of potential. Same goes for Otis, whom earlier in the night couldn't get up for his elbow after the worm. He's noticeably put on more weight - that's not all just from changing outfits...
-
C.S. likes him too. He'll have your back.

I don't think anything takes me more out of a moment than when a wrestler, in character, is talking about stealing the show, or being the most entertaining, or having a match of the year. I know that kayfabe is dead but is it too much to ask that the wrestlers on the wrestling show having wrestling contests actually want to fucking WIN the wrestling match? How about that for a concept? This fucking rah-rah we had match of the night it doesn't matter that I lost bullshit sucks. Sami can fuck off.

So there was that call for Ryder/Hawkins. Then Dolph/Roode won the Battle Royal. Now Kalisto just came out with a pinata. WTF is going on?
-
During the preshow battle royal entrances, Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder are making their way to the ring & the commentator says "Here comes two superstars whom are always grateful that they're still here." Um, what? Please tell me I misheard that?

For me, it still goes back to the fact that the job of Mauro is supposed to be to get the talent over & he doesn't do that. He gets himself over. Usually to the detriment of everyone else. Which is why we're currently talking about his jobber ass in the thread about the Wargames PPV. As much as I'm not a fan of current Jim Ross or Michael Cole (ever) I would still take both of them over Mauro. Also the elephant in the room: I feel like Mauro uses his mental issues as a get out of jail free card whenever he fucks up.

Show opened with a Von Erich selling his knee. Said he got pipe fucked & heard it pop. Commentators announced Tom Lawlor inked a new deal with MLW. Jimmy Havoc carjacking a guy got a pop out of me. Apparently the falls count anywhere match is going to continue throughout the show. "Right down the shitter, baby." I fuckin' can't. Mance is too much. There's a lot of funny one-liners from Mance & this is like an old WWF hardcore match when Al Snow & company were around. It's like total comedy. The start to the MLW women's division was a disaster. The crowd was silent, the match was awful & the reveal was underwhelming. Pretty much a triple zero. I thought it was Taeler Hendrix but I was wrong. The 2019 Opera Cup might be fun. I have no idea who Douglas James is. But he got worked by HammerStone. Match went twice as long as it should have. Tom Lawlor does a sports style interview & talks about choosing to stay with MLW. Hints more toward his eventual heel turn. I'm really excited for the MLW/AAA partnership. Especially if they get some big names & not like just the minis & exoticos. Show closes with a CONTRA promo. Josef Samael is a lot better as a heel manager than he ever was as a worker. He can still get in the Sheik spots like the fireball & shit but you don't have to watch him wrestle. Best of both worlds. Not a great episode this week. Some story advancement with Lawlor & the Von Erichs. Mance Warner was pretty funny throughout. Women's match was bad. Hammerstone match wasn't great & was too long. That's really all that happened.

Look forward to him crying because not everyone loves his dumb fuck references. He'll come back & start retweeting everyone that verbally blows him again, like last time. While making some snarky comment about people being haters, acting like he's not gotten to.. again.

Chris Jericho - He has been money in AEW. His non-wrestling stuff has been great. The angles, the comedy, the interacting with the audience. The nicknames, the video vignette parody of Cody. It's all been really entertaining. And his matches haven't been bad either! He has made the people in the Inner Circle seem like bigger deals & he made Scorpio Sky in that tag match. I anticipate their 1v1 match this coming Wednesday. The only thing Jericho is doing that I'm not a fan of is his new back elbow finish because it just seems so... basic. Io Shirai - Fantastic performance at War Games. Since turning heel, she's really grabbed my attention. I was against her losing to Shayna during the cage match but I think it was better in the long run as I've enjoyed her character a lot more since turning. She also oozes sex appeal which doesn't hurt. Her big entrance with Poppy felt like a big deal too. I never really know what to expect from performers in WWE, especially the ones that aren't white men, so I think it's a positive that NXT has officially became the third brand. I think it'll mean more of a chance to shine than I would feel she had if she were on RAW/Smackdown. Keith Lee - WWE finally seem to have a hoss can't-miss-prospect, which I feel like they have needed for awhile. Keith Lee just oozes charisma plus the stuff that he can do at his size never ceases to amaze me. His leap frog, of all things, is a thing of beauty. He also has a super deadly double chop in the corner which always makes for a fun spot. I'm not sure how that spot will translate to larger crowds as they'll be harder to quiet before hand but it could still work. His Powerbomb on the last Smackdown looked like DEATH. He was OK in the WarGames last night but that whole match was kind of just a clusterfuck to be honest. His hot entrance & big spots were entertaining. I liked when he took the Olympic Slam off the top & he hit a Bubba Bomb on a table for a big pop. Jacob Fatu - I've been championing Fatu for awhile now & it's only a matter of time until he winds up in a bigger promotion making a lot more money. I assume he'll go to WWE because of the history with his family but he's not getting any younger so that needs to happen soon. Really agile for his size, of course, like all of the other Samoans. Has the wow factor. His character is believable. He comes off like a dude you don't want to mess with. Loved his match with L.A. Park at MLW Superfight. I am digging MLW again in large part because of Fatu as the world champion. Darby Allin - Kind of gives me Raven in WCW vibes. Just feels like a character that stands out from the crowd. I'm not usually a fan of the smaller wrestlers but he has grabbed my attention due to his reckless style & my love for the Coffin Drop finisher. I also like how he seems to have grabbed the imagination of the kids. His match last week with Moxley was fun & that finish of the top rope DDT was sick! Darby takes some pretty crazy bumps so it feels like an inevitability that he's going to get hurt but until then, AEW has done a great job of presenting him as the never-say-die underdog.

If Dave Meltzer gives the men's Wargames a higher rating than the women's, I'll never listen to another word the man says/writes.
-
It was by far match of the night, yeah. The rest of the show wasn't good, really. That main event was... a lot of spots. Heh.
-
It's a giant 4v4 double ring cage match & that wasn't enough so they needed six fucking tables too. I wonder if the women's Wargames & men's Wargames had different agents?
-
Dijokovac has been quite bad in there, honestly. He's just kind of in the way & awkward. And they just royally botched the double throw of Strong.
-
Well, that was a disappointing reveal.
-
This is not good so far but I feel like that's OK because it's going to go hella long. Kind of problematic that they've set it up where the big reveal of the fourth member matters more than all of the entry order. Everything before they all get in there doesn't feel like it matters.

Yeah but at least Finn still could have had the Demon to fall back on. Realistically, if they wanted Finn to win, he should have just cheated. Distract the ref, kick Bro in the dick then hit the DDT. Wouldn't have been that different but have a dramatically different outcome for the characters. Especially since Finn JUST turned heel.
