  1. Helluva main event. I still don't like making it a two-day thing, but the main event of both shows definitely delivered.
  2. I was digging the ZSJ/Sanada match until they went into the constant indie spot pinfall attempt shit. I like Sabre a lot but I've cooled on Sanada. For a long time, I thought he had a lot of untapped potential but, I think he just might be a coaster. I've never seen him even attempt to hit the next gear, so I don't know. Strikes me as if he's just happy to get the check.
  3. Babyface Lacey is just like Liberty Belle from GLOW to me.
  4. Loved Archer/Moxley. Thought Ospreay/Takahashi was really good. Honestly kind of feel let down that the main event for both belts is Okada/Naito. It feels old already somehow. Not that I wanted Jay White there but I wanted Ibushi to beat Okada. Maybe that was just wishful thinking but it would have felt fresh & like they had a new guy up top. Of course, Okada is only 32 so it's not like he's in the twilight of his career or anything. I think the window closed on Naito. Maybe I'm wrong but it certainly doesn't feel as special or as over as he was two years ago. That's when they should have pulled the trigger on him.
  5. I thought for sure Arn was going to turn on Cody to cost him the match against Darby.
  6. I feel like Nyla is getting better but I can't really say the same about Britt Baker.
  7. NWA Power this week was pretty good, although it aired a day late. Eli Drake did a good promo. Tim Storm did a good promo. Aron Stevens pulled double-duty, the second match against Trevor Murdoch which was fine. Since I wasn't watching during the premiere, I was able to fast forward, so I skipped the women stuff. Of course the draw being the Tim Storm Vs. Nick Aldis rematch, this time during the Television Title tournament, so unfortunately it would have had a 6:05 time limit... but instead, it didn't happen at all, which is even worse. It's crazy to me that Tim Storm is 54-years-old, I only see him during NWA Power & he's still one of my favorite wrestlers right now. Kamille looked great, like she always does. The name of the Nick Aldis stable is apparently Strictly Business. Royce Isaacs took Nick Aldis' place, big downgrade for me. But again, with the time limit, I'm not sure it would have mattered anyway. Tim Storm won with his Perfect Storm finish which is like the Black Hole Slam/Spinning Side Slam/Bossman Slam.
  8. It did have a lot of non-wrestling angles, which were really fun. Not car crash, but like all the Sting Vs. nWo stuff or anytime the nWo would beat people down & spray paint them... that shit was gold. Like it's old hat now, but when I was watching it in the 90's when I was a teenager, it was new to me. I wanted to see DDP hit people with the Diamond Cutter. I wanted to see Sting Scorpion Death Drop people. Hell, for awhile, when he was a babyface, I was all about The Giant Chokeslamming the hell out of people too. Not to mention the climb to the top of Goldberg. One thing that stands out to me about wrestling then compared to now? A finisher was a big deal. Even when it wasn't a match. Like Kevin Nash doing a walk-in to hit a Jackknife Powerbomb felt like a big deal. Even when they weren't doing the angle where the Powerbomb was banned. Seeing wrestling segments that weren't matches that ended with a wrestlers finisher was always exciting to me. ECW did that well too. Sometimes WWE does that still with like the RKO but during the Attitude Era? How often did Austin stun the hell out of people? It feels like you don't get that anymore. Even when Batista chose RAW over Smackdown & turned on Triple H & Ric Flair, that ended with a Batista Bomb through a table. We need more stuff like that. I feel like the Mysterio, Jr. lawn dart moment was really big for Nitro.
  9. This is a really good point. Not just from the likes of Jim Cornette but even people on social media. We know, in example, that Cornette likes The Revival. It's true though, that he's constantly harping on people so much when it would be more productive to talk about the people that he enjoys. He has recently said that he likes what Cody has been doing, I believe. I'm guilty of this myself. Sometimes it feels easier (cheaper?) to get caught up in the hate instead of praising the stuff you like. I love Jacob Fatu & think Josef Samael is a good manager for him. I really like Salina de la Renta as a valet/business woman as well & L.A. Park can still bring it. Mance Warner I enjoy as a promo. MLW has been doing some fun things that I enjoy. I have even liked some of the Dynasty stuff & think Hammerstone might wind up in WWE some day. I think it's cool that ROH put the world title on PCO because it feels like a reward for how hard he has been working lately. WWE still has a lot of talent that are really good, including Rusev & Roman Reigns whom I think are both great. NXT is fun with what they're doing with Keith Lee. Samoa Joe looks like he's set to have a run & was surprisingly great at commentary. AEW has done good things with Darby Allin, Luchasaurus, Cody & Jericho has been a lot of fun. The Tokyo Dome show is just around the corner and New Japan also has a lot of talent that I enjoy. Okada, Naito, Ishii, Tanahashi... Archer had a strong 2019. Also shout out to Cara Noir as I think that gimmick could be special.
  10. He's Dolph Ziggler if he went to Japan.
  11. Good God, man! That was the line of the week!
  12. This is the first I'm seeing of Cornette seeing the clip & saying something about it, although I had heard he also shit on it. But yeah, I went off about this myself as well & drew a lot of ire from random no-nothing Twitter marks. For what it's worth, that dude & his stable also suck shit in MLW. One of the worst acts they have going right now.
  13. Getting ready for the World Title main event run, brother.
  14. Oversaturation is a very real thing. The length of shows for sure but also the amount of shows a week, too. Especially when you follow multiple promotions like a lot of us do. I had to cut way back on wrestling because I felt I was getting burned out. I now only watch select Pay-Per-View events & NWA Power on Tuesday. And I didn't finish the last episode of Power, despite being only an hour. I don't even have a desire to attend an event anymore because it feels never-ending, without even including travel time, parking, etc. I'm waiting on something different to come around. Right now, a lot of modern wrestling feels very "samey." It's a bunch of acrobatic small guys no selling big bombs & doing flips. NWA is trying to be different from that but their roster is weak & they come off as way too corny. NXT or New Japan are probably the closest to what I'm looking for right now but I would love to see something like Lucha Underground return. It felt a lot different. The presentation was unique. I feel like the luster has fallen off of AEW for me completely.
  15. In my opinion, making it a two-day event is a mistake. I would say the same for Wrestlemania if they were to do it as well. Just make the one day better & stop trying to make it an eight hour thing. It was never an issue in the past, when there were only four Pay-Per-Views a year & Wrestlemania was only three hours long... If I were a fan buying a ticket, I would feel obligated to go both days. Which increases the cost exponentially. If you're in a situation where it's a one day thing then you have to choose which of the two days to go to. That shit sucks. As a business though, I'm sure they'll make more money, so it's probably the right decision. As a fan, I hate it.
  16. If the activity in this thread, or lack there of, is any indication, the ratings are going to be brutal.
  17. A "first time viewer" talking about them "holding back" Britt Baker because she lost the one match he watched? OK..
  18. I think it's more the state of PWO than AEW.
  19. I marked for Nikita. The closing angle was good too.
  20. Someone on Reddit said that Kairi said to Asuka in Japanese "Sis, help me" & that made me feel awful.
  21. 6 minute time limits is an awful idea.
  22. It's just such bad writing to have a PPV match turn into a 4-on-1 beatdown in a gimmick match & not have a single babyface give a fuck to help Roman. I don't know what the long game is here but that shit sucked.
  23. The War Raiders open challenge is answered by The OC. Which is about as lame of an outcome as could possibly have been. EDIT: OK, they're apparently the Viking Raiders now. I think I already knew that, I just forgot.
  24. Humberto/Andrade was good. New Day/Revival was good. Murphy/Black is very good. No complaints so far.
