Nice touch to slap Virgil in the Million Dollar Dream. I also marked when Ross guessed it might be Abdullah in the box.

This segment is at least better than what NXT is opening with, anyway. This is entertaining.

Well, that's your opinion. Just telling you how I felt. Sorry if that upsets you.

Kenny Omega is a good worker. My issue with him is the same issue I have with a lot of wrestling nowadays, especially in AEW: no one knows what less is more means anymore. Here's a perfect example: last night on AEW Dark, in the opening match, Pentagon Jr. hit Trent Barretta with a Canadian Destroyer, which Trent kicked out of. Then he hit him with a Package Piledriver on the ring apron. Then he did his arm-breaker move. Then went for ANOTHER Package Piledriver (when at this point, Trent should be getting stretchered out) and Trent reverses it and wins the match. It's like, believability is so fucking far away from wrestling at this point I feel like guys would kick out from a literal gunshot. "Well, he didn't hit a major organ!" Watching Kenny Omega in Japan, it was just a whole bunch of everything & none of it meant anything. Like, you're doing a top rope Dragon Suplex for a near fall!? It's just insane. Adam Cole takes a top of the cage through a table Air Raid Crash & he's working the next day in a 15 minutes match... that he wins. It's insane.

I didn't know it was him. I've been trying to figure out who it was but yeah, I agree. He's been really good. Like, shockingly good.

I was actually thinking about this myself. I don't think they can come up with a card with their current roster that I could justify paying $25 for anyway. Especially when you factor in that we don't actually know what the PPV itself is going to look like. Power doesn't exactly inspire a lot of confidence that you're going to get good wrestling. Also, I already know that the show is going to involve people like Cabana & Anderson & I didn't want to pay for them ten years ago, let alone today. The biggest draw in NWA for me right now is Kamille.

Whomever laid out that Pentagon/Trent match should be fired.
-
I don't actually care too much that it's Nick Aldis/James Storm to be honest. I think it's fine. Making it two-out-of-three falls is probably unnecessary though. Really just wanted to get that Darth Vader in there.
-
Man, this episode blows. Feels like the Cornette shit really fucked things up.

Is this just a recap show or what? What the hell. Eli Drake talking about Austin, Rock & Flair but doesn't acknowledge my comparison to Ace in the Hole Sonny Siaki. That promo was awkward because the crowd was dead silent at the beginning. Thankfully they started making some noise toward the end to give him something to work with.
-
I just don't want Tim Storm as a heel because he's such a good, sympathetic babyface. Which is not really something that NWA has elsewhere. James Storm? No. Colt Cabana? C'mon. Ken Anderson? Hell no. Eli Drake? Negative. So Tim Storm fills a role & I hope they don't mess things up by trying to switch things up because I don't think any of those other talents can get over in the same way that a Tim Storm can. They actually have a lot of people that come off as douchebags or swarmy even when they're not necessarily heels. Even Nick Aldis feels like a tweener. I'm thinking something happens with Aldis causing him to lose the title & then Storm gets a shot at the new champion. Whomever that turns out to be.

They need to cycle in & out some new faces as well. Taping that many episodes at once is brutal because the shows are starting to feel the same already. Like there's only four women. I didn't really care to see Anderson & Cabana from the jump. And they have a Women's title, midcard title, tag titles & world title with a roster of like 15-20 people. It's crazy. Hopefully we'll get some new stuff because of the PPV & going forward. I know Melina just showed up last week for the ladies but still, that's not enough. It's basically world champion Allysin Kay & Ashley Vox (whom is a jobber basically) as the faces & then Thunder Rosa & Marti Belle as the heels with Melina as the manager, I guess? Is she going to wrestle? I'm not as down on James Storm as C.S. is, I do think he's got a strong look & is a good promo.. but I agree that I have no real desire to watch him wrestle & it doesn't make sense for him to get a title shot after just losing. I just hope whomever is chosen that it remains a 1v1 match. I don't want a 3-way or any sort of multiperson clusterfuck, y'know? Because, again, the roster is too damn small. I of course haven't read any spoilers but I have a sinking suspicion that the Rock & Roll Express are going to win the damn tag titles too. Which would probably bother me more if the NWA tag division meant anything right now or if I didn't think that even today the RnR can probably outwork the teams they do have. Homicide is acting like he doesn't want to be there. The Bram team is... nothing. I don't even remember the other teams. I love the format of the show, the style of the show & the layout, etc. The biggest issue for me right now is like the opposite issue that the other promotions have. The issue with NWA is the roster. They have some talent they're just too thin, top to bottom. EDIT: I forgot Kamille. She's a women they have that they could use too as a worker. I don't know if she's any good but I know she at least wrestles because she's posted clips from Puerto Rico & stuff on her Instagram.

I stand corrected. I must just be misremembering & putting BattleBowl & Survivor Series together in my head. Sounds like I need to go & rewatch Survivor Series 1990!
-
Oh no, it's a lot older than that. Like 1989 old. It was always pretty much Hogan or Warrior if I recall. It was like what WCW did the BattleBowl. In fact, maybe they only did it once? I should look it up.
-
I also liked when the surviving members of each winning team competed in a battle royal at the end of the show. A good way to set up an angle for the post PPV TV. Of course, harder to do that nowadays when you have both men & women matches & don't do intergender stuff.
-
If the rumors of Vince being disappointed with the main event last night are true, that doesn't bode well for the women closing out a lot of PPVs in the future. At least not Shayna & Bayley, I would imagine.

At this point, you have to wonder how much more WWE is willing to put up with. This isn't the first time Corey Graves has done stuff like this. Let's not forget his temper tantrums over C.M. Punk. This also isn't the first time Mauro has cut himself off. We all remember the JBL stuff. At some point, WWE has to decide if it's worth keeping around potential P.R. liabilities or to just nip it in the bud & replace them now. Or would the backlash P.R. from removing either of them be worse? Like, what does Corey bring to the table at all for WWE? They would feel bad that his concussion stuff happened on their watch & he wasn't on the payroll. If Corey ran with that in the news, that's not a good look. Probably the same thing with Mauro. It would be a bad look as a company to release the guy with mental issues after this drama unfolded. Especially if then he went to the press with it. So it's like, WWE is in a real pickle here. And it's not like I care about the image of a corporation but if you're a decision maker there, how the hell do you handle a situation like this? Just hope it blows over & works itself out & that there's not anymore issues to arise? Corey Graves, especially if the talk about his heavy drinking are true, appears to be a powder keg. Mauro will probably keep having issues as well. Especially when he inevitably returns to social media again. It's bad all around. All because of Twitter. WWE should just ban Twitter in-house. That would help a lot. Of course, then they lose the tool of Twitter & it's ability to promote & interact with the potential customer base, etc. It's just a bad situation all around.
-
I would be OK with them just firing Corey, TBH. I'd also be OK if Mauro didn't come back too.

Laughs in THE GODDAMN PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Twitter as a whole is the shits, to be honest. Nothing good comes from it, let's be honest. It's a cess pool for negativity, snitch tagging & name calling. (and at least in America, motherfuckers LOVE drama)

Honestly, Becky is over still but it might be time for some of the regular WWE women (Charlotte, Bayley, Becky) to take a step to the side for a bit & try other women at the top. An Asuka run. A Sasha run. Then you got Shayna, Rhea & all the other NXT women waiting in the weeds even if Ronda doesn't come back. But it was the wrong call for the women to go on last tonight if they didn't have an angle for afterward. Which is funny as the women should have went on last on Saturday.
-
I think I'm over Bayley tbh.
-
That was an awful main event & without an end of show angle, just ends the show on a sour note. Shame.
-
There's been some good stuff on this show tonight, to be honest. It hasn't all been good but overall, I'm happy with it.
