I didn't know that about Pillman, but I did suspect money might be something to do with certain guys being pushed and other guys not. Makes me wonder what guys like Marcus Bagwell and Johnny B. Badd, who also got de-pushed during this time, were on relative to the Greg Valentines. All that said, surely Doc and Gordy were on a packet given what they could get paid in Japan?

I believe that the separate feeds thing would be possible even with our current setup. It involves setting up an RSS feed and then submitting that feed to iTunes. With Soundcloud all of this is currently automated, but it is possible to do it manually (I used to do it manually, and it took hours, and I'd also make formatting mistakes regularly). It would take hours to do, but it can be done and through Wordpress (point the link to the raw file on SC, the one you get from "download" button). The big feed would still exist, but you'd essentially have a duplicate copy on a separate feed. The real question would be if there is enough of a demand for that to make it worth the time. If SC goes down, it would be a different conversation. Because aside from having to re-up all of the audio, every single link on every single PTBN show page would need to be updated. We are talking around 500 shows, all-in. So let's hope SC pull through.

The problem was that guys were getting big six-figure guaranteed contracts at a time when WCW was drawing crowds as low as 200 at house shows and all-time low PPV butyrate as well as TV ratings, as we talked about on this show. Frey threw more money at the problem and it didn't change the bottom line. Watts was trying to slash costs. It's one thing we didn't talk about but I wonder if Greg Valentine's fee at this time would have been lower than a Brian Pillman's? Could explain some of the pushing of the old boys over the young guys. On another note, I'd also like to know if any listeners actually enjoy that last match which I hated and Will was a tiny bit higher on. This is the show that soured me on Doc and Gordy for a long time.

Thanks for detailed answer. Interesting viewpoint. Good impetus for me to pick up the Towns and Joni albums again and try to see them in that same light. In my mind Towns albums are all very good but none at five-star all-time level, but I'm going to try to get reacquainted after this comparison. It is an exciting prospect. For me, as you might suspect from the article, I genuinely see Dylan on the level of a Shakespeare or WB Yeats or Mozart or someone like that, someone who might realistically win the Nobel Prize for Literature, which I don't think is true of any other songwriter living or dead. It's something about that kaleidoscopic melting of the Great American Songbook, and the fact that he had the late trilogy of great albums from Time Out of Mind to Modern Times that puts him completely out of reach for me. I don't really see anyone else touching him lyrically -- which is, of course, a view that is very prevalent among English Lit professors.

Wordpress can't host or stream audio properly. I know this because originally Where the Big Boys Play was hosted on a Wordpress site which apparently had unlimited bandwidth. However, they kept complaining that the download traffic (especially from those trying to stream) was taking up too much bandwidth and essentially shut my site down without warning, gave me my money back and deleted the content. This is why we got the Sound Cloud account in the first place. You could use a Wordpress site to generate separate RSS feeds for each show that could then be subscribed to separately -- it will be more labour intensive and time consuming, but it can be done, I think* -- but this wouldn't solve the actual issue of hosting the audio content, which if we were to separate it all out just for PWO-PTBN shows would be something like 10 times the current cost. * Incidentally, PTBN is a Wordpress site, but it would take a lot of man-hours to make separate RSS feeds for every show.

I absolutely will not get into the debate, but out of interest what makes you say this? Which albums do you consider to be better than Dylan's best albums and why? And which songs? It's a view I've not come across before. If you've not seen it, here's my Dylan guide: http://placetobenation.com/parvs-guide-to-bob-dylans-albums/ Also, if you're into hip-hop here's part 1 of my Wu-Tang guide (part 2 maybe by May!): http://placetobenation.com/parvs-guide-to-the-wu-tang-clan-part-1/. If you go to page 7, for fun there's a "depth chart" there where I rank rappers in different catgories. Although, again, no interest in debating.

I think results on the board with a reaction show would be best. Chad and I will do a special WTBBP running down our own top 100s beforehand and I would be more interested in shows along those lines from others.

Try the title track! Looking forward to see what you make of the Magnum matches. I have to say I was surprised that neither of them go much longer then ten mins, they feel longer.

One cool thing to come out of this is that I just noticed the "music snobbery" link in your sig and was delighted to find it clicked through to RYM. I use that site a lot, and will probably lose a few hours reading your stuff. I also love Paris 1919, so thumbs up Back to Ted ...

Whoops, my mixup. Even mention the orange mats in my review.

Right, but that's not part of our assessment. We assess what happened. Not why or how.

Making someone else look strong is work. Doing a job or not doing a job is politics. The two things are different. GWE isn't about politics, it is about work.

What on earth is Vince wearing here? Also, I am sure the guy kissing Heenan's feet is someone in the business. Does anyone recognise him?

I have a comp from years ago on Video Disc format (lol) which has two Ted vs. Kerry matches: 2/18/91 from Florida and 3/15/91 from MSG. Believe the latter one is on Dailymotion. On that same comp I recall a really funny bit with Ted and Heenan on Prime Time involving him paying a guy to kiss Heenan's feet and a kid to put an egg under his chin. They actually break the egg on the kid's neck, I laughed like hell when I saw that. Ha ha. In fact, that was so good I might see if I can find the footage and upload it.

I am not arguing any of these points beyond what I've stated. However, as a fun little tidbit for this thread, it is sometimes forgotten that Ted was instrumental in Mr. Perfect winning the IC belt. Everybody's got a price!

I'll leave it to others to answer all of the above,
