This one now has the Doc vs Taylor match...
-
Ask him about his time in CWF as a ring announcer.

Especially when it's Nick Patrick and the wrestlers are smaller than him. The other day I caught him hesitating to intervene on Morton post-belling Pillman. He was literally a head taller than both. Especially since Patrick is a former wrestler.

For me, it's ref bumps - like 99.5% of them. They were way overused back in the day but even then I could live with most of them. No, the ones I hate are the ones where the referee does some unnatural movement - very quickly - to get in the way. You know, the "sprint in behind the guys so I get crushed by the guy who just did a leapfrog even though I have no reason to be in the center of the ring right now" type deal. Another, and I know it's standard American tag team heat-generation but I detest the "referee stops the face partner from being in the ring while allowing the heels to do whatever they want" bit. And, as long as I'm killing referees here, any ref that alters the pace of his count at the finish.

I vaguely recall him getting Observer WOTY in 1984? Maybe it was earlier. I know he was thought of really highly at the time.

Top 5 Living WWF Hulkamania era Wrestlers?
Tabe replied to thebrainfollower's topic in Pro Wrestling
Well, that and the fact that he's, ya know, dead. -
That Reed/Santana match is an interesting one - takes place in the middle of January 1984, when Santana was already a WWF full-timer.

Houston Wrestling Results (NWA Classics Research)
Tabe replied to KrisZ's topic in Megathread archive
Looks like the Battle Royal is 6/22/79 and that the above listing for that card is incomplete. Did a Google search, came up with Clawmaster's Andre the Giant records and he lists a 6/22/79 Andre/Spoiler match in Houston. -
I actually didn't like this too much and though that Brad taking out his own leg by atomic dropping Gang made Brad look pretty stupid. Yep, Put that in with the "doing an atomic drop on your already injured knee" as being spots that I just hate.
-
I have no problem with them uploading "jobber" matches. Better to sprinkle them in and spread out the good stuff than to front load too much good stuff and then be stuck with nothing to upload after X months. Besides, I want complete cards, so go right ahead and upload squashes and jobber matches!
-
1) "Houston Wrestling", I believe was the name of the promotion. Might just have been "Paul Boesch Promotions" or something. 2) 99% of these matches are from the Sam Houston Coliseum. The card in question, however, with Andre/Harley was, indeed, at the Houston Summit.
-
Didn't Sgt. Slaughter use an "atomic noogie" (not sure what he actually called it) for a little while instead of the Cobra Clutch?
-
You're missing the women's match from this card.
-
OK, that makes sense, but what about the eyes? Just close and pray?

LOL, sorry about that. http://www.tabe.nu

I've watched a ton of Power Pro from 1985 recently so I've got some questions: - why the heck was Hercules Hernandez announced as being from "Badstreet"? - How in the heck did they do the fireball on Hacksaw Duggan in May of 1985? Akbar sticks the flame RIGHT ON Duggan's face. Seems incredibly dangerous, yet intentional. - in an anti-WWF promo, Dick Murdoch says that with Adrian Adonis, he "never knew if my partner would show up" - is there a story behind that or is Murdoch just flapping his gums? - during one of the Joel Watts "Punishment of Pro Wrestling" videos, they show Tim Ashley taking an elbow drop from Nord the Barbarian (and getting crushed by Nord's leg) and say that Ashley quit wrestling as a result of the injury he sustained. Fact or crap?

Not sure. Never seen listings for a full GCW taping. I've also got some Pro Wrestling USA listings and there are pretty extensive AWA listings out there. As for Mid-South, like I said, I've got extensive PPW & UWF listings on my site. Far more detailed than most, especially for Power Pro, with locations & dates included, etc. I'm also working on pooling together the different files of results I've gotten from people over the years as there's differences between them.
-
There are match listings online for Mid-South 1982-85. I have the most-extensive Power Pro & UWF match listings around on my site. I also have all of the 1985 NWA Worldwide shows on my site.

They ran into a bug and it's gonna be another couple weeks.

Yes, he should have. But he wanted a million bucks to do a Dome show against Misawa and Baba wasn't willing to pony up that cash. Wish that had somehow happened. Instead we get Takada throwing away his wrestling career in return for paydays from Pride. Damn you Nobuhiko for robbing me of 10 years of matches in return for 45 minutes of fights from Pride.
-
That certainly didn't help. Also, they had no top stars after Vader left. They went from Vader headlining to........ Joe Malenko. Then they made the ill-fated decision to work with New Japan. They got buried in that feud and it killed the company.
-
Tully vs El Bracero - 12/11/81 Atlas vs Tanaka - 3/28/80
-
Crockett giving a million bucks to McMahon right before the first Wrestlemania.
-
They also put up Tony Atlas vs Toru Tanaka
-
Looks like the Vicki Williams vs Leilani Kai match is from 1/7/79 and the previously published card for that show was actually incomplete. Same folks in the front row for that match as for Andre/Harley.
