  1. Lashley is an interesting case. He may be in his late 40s, but he doesn't seem old because he's looked pretty much the same for the past two decades.
  2. TV age is more important than chronological age. Carlito may be older than Randy Orton, but he feels fresher because he hasn't been a featured act in WWE forever like Orton has.
  3. To me, saying the MJF/Juice angle was mild by historical standards wasn't so much an attempt to minimize it as an acknowledgement of how bad things really were in the past. I mean, it wasn't that long ago that Harley Race was calling Ron Simmons "boy" in promos. And I'm pretty sure Meltzer is himself Jewish (he's said in the past that he lost relatives in the Holocaust), so he certainly wouldn't be inclined to take that sort of thing lightly.
  4. There is no ethical consumption under capitalism. Also, it bears repeating that the National Labor Relations Act explicitly prohibits employers from supporting unions. The whole point of a union is to represent the interests of workers against employers, and a union that's too chummy with management can't be considered an independent bargaining representative.
  5. I don't know who you're referring to here because the reaction I've seen to this has been universally negative. The only thing remotely close to a defense is people saying it isn't quite as bad as Christian roasting people's dead relatives. Doubtful. There might be momentary uproar in some circles, but most of the world would shrug their shoulders and figure that's just what WWE does.
  6. Dick Blood is an incredible ring name.
  7. Looking forward to him tweeting that the name was his idea. Which, even if true, isn't quite the flex they seem to think it is. "I'll have you know that I came up with this dumbass name ON MY OWN." Really, though, people make ring names out to be a bigger deal than they really are. It's fun to laugh at the stupid ones, but after a while they stop being dumb names and just become names. We all got used to saying Dolph Ziggler without batting an eye, so the sky's the limit. If anything, having a famous name to live up to is more trouble than it's worth if you're not good enough. It's not like Joe Hennig's career arc would have differed significantly if he had been billed under his real name.
  8. If I had a nickel for every time the roster of a Fujiwara promotion left en masse to form their own company, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
  9. When has he ever done this? Cody and Jade both left after their contracts expired. When Andrade and Malakai Black asked to be released, he turned them down flat. Anyway, WOR reported that Hair injured his ribs at Wrestledream and will be out of action for a while. That's why FTR lost the belts in such a short match.
  10. Thank you so much for sharing this. To be honest, though, my eyes kind of glazed over looking at the rules for this year's ballot. It might be time to take a step back when the voting process has become as convoluted as a TNA gimmick match.
  11. He just wrestled in the UK, and going from there to Saudi Arabia is pretty much a lateral move when it comes to trans rights.
  12. It's not like you can only watch things live as they happen or they disappear forever. Cherry-picking after the fact is the way to go unless it's a major event or you have a ton of time on your hands.
  13. From what I've seen, skepticism of Copeland in AEW is due to how bad his last WWE run was as well as lingering PTSD from the history of ex-WWE guys in TNA. Also, a large part of the appeal of talent in a different company comes from the possibility of fresh matchups and new interactions. A feud with Christian isn't exactly that.
  14. Brock was preparing to go back to UFC at that time. He likely would have been down to take more risks in the ring had that not been the case.
  15. Not gonna lie, I'd pop if Ospreay and Ricochet did a feud centered around repeatedly kicking each other in the balls.
  16. Be that as it may, there is no breaking ESPN announcement of Ospreay signing with WWE, which is all I was saying. It looks like someone Photoshopped the Jade Cargill signing announcement to create the above image.
  17. That has to be fake news. There's nothing about that on espn.com or any wrestling news website and Ospreay is still under contract to New Japan until next February.
  18. I'm guessing the original plan was to build to a unification match with Punk's "real" world title, but that's obviously out the window. The MJF/Cole pairing really seems to be clicking, so I see no harm in keeping the belt on ice while that plays out. And considering how often the booking has been derailed by injuries, having a world champion who picks his spots isn't the worst thing in the world.
  19. Their 2021 NXT is probably my favorite WALTER/Gunther match. The fact that he can deliver bangers with Ciampa, who is basically held together by silly string, shows that he's a smart worker who isn't reliant on sheer brute force to produce compelling matches.
  20. Edge is already in the WWE Hall. By the way, I checked the USPTO database and it seems that WWE had tried to trademark Rated R Superstar in 2012 but the application was rejected on the grounds of likelihood of confusion with the R rating for motion pictures, which is a registered trademark of the MPAA.
  21. Edge showing up and screwing Darby would be an acceptable way to swerve the crowd without generating kill-the-town heat. Modern crows pretty much always pop for happenings and a big debut would mitigate the sting of their guy jobbing in his hometown.
  22. I've seen some folks refer to Edge as Adam Phoenix. Alternately, he can go back to being Damon Striker.
  23. ADAM COPELAND BAY BAY
  24. Edge is a much bigger star than all three of those guys combined. With that said, having him come in and win the AEW title right off the bat would be as dumb as bringing Kurt Angle into TNA and having him end Samoa Joe's unbeaten streak right away. In both cases, you're talking about a guy who's a big enough star that he doesn't really gain anything from the rub but isn't a game-changer to the degree where you can justify rebuilding the company around him.
  25. "I'm taking the ramp out. It kills." "The ramp kills?" "Yeah, it actually does kill. It's quite heavy, you don't know."
