You are clearly a person of surpassing taste and quality. I will wear my new avatar with pride. George gets big points from me for basically inventing the act that gave us Flair, and to a lesser extent Bockwinkel, and hence all of their imitators. Every time I see a George match I see a spot I wish someone would steal today. Plus I once saw him hit the mother of all piledrivers on some match on ESPN Classic back in the 90s I haven't been able to find since. Amazing worker who would have gotten over any place, any time. That's a pretty compelling argument in a tiny paragraph, actually. Not the sort of direction I'd go, but you pass the gauntlet. I had George at 94 I think. I'm not going to claim that he has a ton of great matches on tape or whatever, but his peak as a draw and household name was HUGE, basically the biggest wrestling star between Londos in the 30s and Hogan in the 80s and surely one of the top 10 stars ever. Also hugely influential as Lee pointed out.

That's probably the best assessment. Number of great matches being weighted so heavily bugged me a lot, especially if it was more important than how someone performs. Some people were just in positions to have a TON of great matches and to have those seen by a lot of people. Others did not. The folks who didn't get those chances aren't necessarily worse than those who did. Being in position means they still have to take advantage of that opportunity. And doing so may very well be why they're so often put in such a position. True. However looking at someone like Bret who constantly had to face pirates, dentists, clowns and everybody else and compare that to Kobashi who got to face Misawa, Kawada, Taue, etc.. There is no way Bret would ever be able to equal that many great matches in that situation. Does that mean Kobashi is automatically better? He may be better, but there is more to it than that. Preach on brother

I dunno, at least Graham's universe was full of headlining 20,000 + sellouts for a super hot territory and not part of cards that couldn't draw flies to shit, if you want to be technical about it. (You know I love ya Parv, don't sick the feds on me for subversive statements)

What were his 70s highs? Laying an egg against Harley? I'll give him this: he could sell better than he's given credit for. And was demonstrably a better wrestler than Jesse Ventura. I didn't vote for Graham, but his WWWF stuff in 76-78 from MSG and Philly is mostly good, never bad, and often really memorable. Vs. Bruno, Dusty, Putski, Mascaras (two otherwise crappy wrestlers), Backlund, are almost as good as it gets in NYC during this time. I probably should've found a spot for Superstar

Plus Heenan trained and started his career as a wrestler, and wrestled extensively in all the other areas he worked, including a fair amount in WWF Steven, surely you can find a better pic of Heenan. Preferably one from the 70s with a classic crimson mask

That's so frustrating. Don't give up guys. Having to re-record audio is a major pain. The deal with one persons voice not recording happened to me randomly a few times a couple years ago. I don't think I ever figured out why other than that's the kind of random shit the Skype recorder does

I had a great time doing this with Sleeze but by the end I was running on fumes and basically playing the "check out this podcast for my views on this guy" card quite a bit
