  1. Ricky Jackson

    NXT talk

    I love the guy
  2. Official drop is tomorrow, but PWO gets the advance screening http://placetobenation.com/at-the-garden-series-preview-wrestling-at-msg-1880-1938/ This is a special series preview for a new ongoing podcast from Kelly Nelson (Titans of Wrestling, Tag Teams Back Again) that will spotlight individual wrestlers and their history at the "Mecca of Professional Wrestling". This episode provides a brief history of three different buildings known as Madison Square Garden, covering such figures as "The Solid Man" William Muldoon, George Hackenschmidt, Frank Gotch, Ed "Strangler" Lewis, "The Golden Greek" Jim Londos, Danno O'Mahoney, and many others. *Also, I pledge to keep episodes in the 45 minute range, perfect for those finding it difficult to consume all this media in the 21st century!
  3. Those are both great, but Bob Backlund's piledriver is the true "Holy Fuck he just killed that guy" piledriver
  4. I thought Bob vs Harley was great the first time I saw it, but upon a second viewing, with a lot of great Bob matches recently in the rear view mirror due to Titans, it left me kinda cold. It's a weird match. The crowd totally laps it up and loves seeing Bob kick Harley's ass, like seeing the Yankees pummel the Dodgers in the World Series. There is a unique buzz in the air because a lot of fans were expecting Bob to walk out with both belts. But yeah, detached from that, there are tons better Bob title matches during his run on top
  5. Exactly. The best alternative to WWE TV is a different kind of WWE TV
  6. He just had to get that HHH weight off from around his neck that was dragging him to the bottom of the ocean
  7. Damn right that's fantastic. It's going to make me watch Smackdown for the first time in years
  8. She would actually probably dig LU more than any other wrestling now that I think of it...
  9. I think that is one of the things that make it interesting. The fans in the temple are also unaware of the vignettes, making the TV viewers the only ones that are aware of the whole story. It's a new kind of kayfabe in a sense
  10. Yeah, it seems to me 90% of online wrestling talk is bitching about the current scene
  11. That had to do with segregated seating at the old arena in Memphis or Nashville, not with wrestlers. It's an interesting question. I'm not sure when or where white vs black wrestling began exactly
  12. Yeah, as much as a lot of fans are drooling about a Bullet Club reunion, I think Finn has to come in as a face. Teaming with AJ sounds good. Maybe have someone join Gallows and Anderson, but not sure who
  13. I love Lucha Underground. I'm just getting into it too. I watched the first 13 or so eps then decided to start cherry picking because I'm not a binge watcher and it would take forever for me to catch up. The casket match in ep 19 is freakin amazing. Aztec Warfare I and II (the only ep of season 2 I've seen) are both great, especially II. Just a bunch of great characters and vignettes, with the matches being mostly secondary in importance
  14. I was really down on WWE after Mania. I just hated that show so much, more than any show in years. But since that mess there have been several positives. The main event scene is hot. The womens division feels important (really liked the in-ring segment last night). Tag scene has purpose and over teams. On the other hand, I can't stand the McMahons, especially Shane. The commentary, as ever, is unbelievably bad. And outside of a couple main events, I've felt the big shows so far this year have been uninspired. Still, if you focus on the good, there is quality stuff here
  15. I'm digging this storyline with Reigns and Styles with the blurred lines and questions about allegiances. It's different while also feeling kinda old school
  16. Sign in the front row reads Worst Champions 1.Great Khali 2.Roman Reigns 3.Sycho Sid Lol Lists are all the rage
  17. Yeah, that's it
  18. Missed the first hour or so. Having a few glasses of wine ("Johnny Goggles") and flipped on Raw with the New Day/tag team scene segment. That was fun. I'm intrigued by the six-man main event of Reigns/Usos vs Styles/Gallows/Anderson.
  19. Meet the Thesz Press
  20. I think we are getting close to the time where the GWE forum should be made read only and everyone starts moving on with their lives and start new journeys. I'm willing to guide anyone through 70s WWWF
  21. Personally, I think if you're a big enough wrestling fan to have stumbled on a site like this, you've probably watched enough wrestling in your life to be able to come up with a top 100 list. Maybe, like myself, you didn't participate in the "official" journey of the GWE, but I've been on a personal journey for 30 years, and nobody can tell me I don't know enough about wrestling to vote in a poll for the greatest ever
  22. Seems like the issue with Soundcloud has been fixed and the shows can be downloaded
  23. I love TNT as much as anyone but I don't think binge watching it is the way to go. Just watch one every once and a while to retain your sanity
  24. For those who care, I watched Camp WWE and well, if you want to hear Vince swear a lot and see Flair having implied sex with bears, here you go
